Charlotte Flair discloses how much control she has in WWE

Charlotte Flair has been criticized for winning most of her matches. She’s a 14-time women’s champion in WWE, way ahead of any other female star on the roster. Even though she may not decide the final outcome of her matches, The Queen has claimed that she commands full ownership of the story told between the ring ropes.

Speaking on Power Hour with Ilona Maher, Charlotte Flair opened up about her level of creative freedom when it comes to in-ring action. Flair explained that WWE management dictates the winner and the desired finish, but she has total liberty to choreograph the match.

“I’ve had, for years now, the freedom for putting the match together. They might have, like, ‘She’s winning,’ or ‘She’s winning. We’d like her to win by submission or pinfall.’ But in terms of the dance, they’ve always allowed me to put the dance together… You kind of have to let down your ego as an athlete and go, ‘We are here to tell stories, and we’re here to elicit emotion.’ If that’s what’s best for the story, then you have to just eat it,” said Charlotte Flair (12:00 onwards).

Flair also emphasized that having an opinion is earned through veteran experience. She acknowledged that true growth has allowed her to set her personal ego aside to serve the overall story. More than a decade into her legendary career, The Nature Girl has earned the right to craft her own action and drive the way she is in the ring.

Speaking on Power Hour with Ilona Maher, Charlotte Flair shared that stepping away from the world title picture benefited her character. However, she reiterated that her ultimate goal is to be remembered as the greatest WWE star ever, irrespective of gender.

“By default, this last year, being out of the main title picture – and that’s what I was synonymous with – everything that I do right now, every second, every minute, every hour, every day, I just want to be the greatest of all time. Literally, it doesn’t matter, male or female,” she said.

Meanwhile, Flair is still in her feud with the baddie faction. This weekend, alongside Tatum Paxley and Alexa Bliss, she will be up against Jade Cargill, B-Fab, and Michin at Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta.
