England vs Pakistan, 1st Test Day 1 Highlights: Hosts England hold the edge at Stumps on Day 1. They wasted little time wrapping up Pakistan’s innings, bowling them out for 171 with Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue both completing excellent five-wicket hauls. Ben Duckett and Emilio Gay then came out with positive intent, racing to 36 before Mohammad Abbas and Mohammad Ali struck in consecutive overs to remove both openers, with Gay departing for a fluent 33. That, though, was as good as it got for Pakistan, as Joe Root and Jordan Cox came together to steady the innings and keep the runs flowing, adding an unbeaten 64 to ensure there were no further hiccups and cutting the deficit to just 59 at Stumps. The visitors will hope the overcast conditions bring early reward on Day 2, while England will look to build on this stand and turn their advantage into a substantial first-innings lead. (Scorecard)
