Nigeria’s U17 women’s team, the Flamingos, continued their strong run at the 2026 WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup with a 2-0 victory over Burkina Faso on Monday.
The Flamingos secured the win at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro to maintain their perfect record in the competition.
Nigeria dominated possession in the first half and created several chances, but Burkina Faso defended well to keep the score level.
Despite Nigeria’s pressure, neither side could find the breakthrough before the break as the first half ended 0-0.
The Flamingos returned for the second half with greater intensity and continued to push Burkina Faso deep into their own half.
Their pressure finally paid off in the 82nd minute when Mary Dunstan found the back of the net with a fine finish to give Nigeria the lead.
Burkina Faso tried to respond, but the Flamingos remained in control and continued to create opportunities.
Nigeria sealed the victory in stoppage time when Oluwakemi Adegbuyi scored the second goal to make it 2-0.
The result gives the Flamingos three more points and takes their total to nine points from three matches.
Nigeria remain unbeaten and top the table with a perfect record as they continue their pursuit of the WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup title.
