Flying Eagles Defender Somto Nnoli Visits Akwa Ibom Sports Commissioner after WAFU B Championship Return

Nigeria U-20 and Akwa United defender Somto Nnoli has paid a courtesy visit to Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, following his return from the recently concluded WAFU B U-20 Championship in Côte d’Ivoire.

Nnoli was part of the Flying Eagles squad that finished as runners-up at the regional tournament, where Nigeria produced a strong run to the final.

The young defender was accompanied by Akwa United head coach Paul Offor during the visit.

Nnoli presented the Sports Commissioner with a souvenir jersey as a gesture of appreciation for the support and encouragement given to athletes from Akwa Ibom State.

Receiving the player, Elder Paul Bassey congratulated Nnoli on his achievement and praised him for representing Nigeria and Akwa United with distinction on the regional stage.

The Commissioner said Nnoli’s progress was another sign of the growing football talent emerging from Akwa United.

He described the defender’s achievement as a source of pride and encouragement to other young footballers in the state.

Bassey also urged Nnoli to remain focused, disciplined and committed to improving his game as he continues his professional career.

Nnoli’s involvement with the Flying Eagles further highlights Akwa United’s role in developing young players and providing them with a platform to earn national recognition.

The defender has since returned to club duty with Akwa United as preparations continue ahead of the new football season.
