Since making his MLB debut in 2021, Jarren Duran has established himself as a regular in the outfield for the Boston Red Sox. He is currently playing on a one-year, $7.75 million contract.
While he has been solid over the past month, batting .242 with 23 hits, 6 homers and 12 RBIs in August, he has had a down year at the plate overall, batting .207 with a .631 OPS.
As the Red Sox faced off against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, Duran came up to bat in a big spot with two runners on and only one out in the bottom of the fourth. He was unable to get anything going, however, and was ultimately retired after flying out to shortstop J.P. Crawford.
In the immediate aftermath of the unsuccessful at-bat, Duran’s frustration was clear to see, as he let out an expletive-laden roar. Insider Tyler Milliken posted a video of the incident to X.
Reacting, several fans left comments taking shots at Duran.
“Get him a f****** tennis racket,” a fan wrote.
“He’s done this enough times I’m sure someone could make a compilation,” another fan commented.
“Wish these professionals would act professional,” another fan replied.
“I can’t wait until he’s no longer on the roster,” another fan responded.
“This guy needs to get himself under control. He is clearly not well,” another fan shared.
“Doesnt he always do this?” another fan posted.

While they are in a relatively comfortable position to make it to the postseason, the Red Sox seem to be struggling for consistency at the worst possible time. After beating the Miami Marlins on the road in late August, they have now dropped back-to-back series against the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners.
After the 8-3 loss against the Mariners on Wednesday, Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy spoke to MLB.com’s Ian Browne.
“We’ve definitely struggled. We’ve obviously gone through some stuff as far as getting the rotation online, getting Sonny [Gray] rest, and having to use a spot starter, going through some of these things,” Tracy said. “But certainly the season ebbs and flows.”
“We’re going through a little bit of a rough patch there, but if we string together some good starts, we’ll be in good shape. The flip side of the coin is that we actually are swinging the bats pretty good. We’re getting a lot of traffic, so we’ve got to get that point squared away.”
Next, the Red Sox begin a four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.
