NBA fans couldn’t believe seeing Chet Holmgren‘s body transformation. Ahead of the 2026-27 season, the OKC Thunder star is spending time in the gym. At 7-foot-1, Holmgren has a tall and lanky frame. Other big men tend to overpower him, and he decided to make a change ahead of his fourth season.

Holmgren spent time in the weight room this summer. This summer, he began to build muscle, which may improve his matchups in the paint. Although he’s one of the tallest players in the NBA, other big men can overpower him since he’s listed at 208 lbs.

Fans reacted after seeing Holmgren’s dedication to getting better next season. They talked about him on social media.

“He’s morphing into Elon Musk,” a fan said.

“Wemby still gon k**l him,” another fan commented.

“He’s now 47 overall strength,” one fan said.

More fans commented on Chet Holmgren’s offseason weight room training.

“Lm**o, yeah I see why they gave him a 68 strength in 2k. That’s realistic,” someone said.

Last season, Holmgren was named an All-Star for the first time. He appeared in 69 games, averaging 17.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks. In the playoffs, however, the Thunder star had a disappointing run. His numbers went down to 14.9 ppg, 8.2 rpg and 1.5 bpg.

In Game 7 of the Western Conference finals against the San Antonio Spurs, Holmgren struggled to make an impact. He had four points, four rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

Chet Holmgren is Still Expected to be Part of the Thunder’s Long-Term Plans

Chet Holmgren’s postseason performance against the Spurs drew criticism. Jalen Williams, the team’s second-best player, only played three games in the series because of persistent injuries, so the Thunder needed him to step up.

After his disappointing display in an elimination game, trade rumors around Holmgren emerged. However, The Stein Line’s Jake Fischer said that the star big man is still part of OKC’s future. Despite how he played against the Spurs, there are no plans to trade him.

In June, Zach Lowe reported that OKC has received calls about Holmgren’s availability.

“Teams have definitely asked about Chet Holmgren,” Lowe said. “In the wake of the Chet collapse and have been rebuffed.”

The Thunder view Chet Holmgren as an integral part of the team’s future, along with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams.
