Nigeria’s Super Falcons will receive a record $2 million if they win the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The increased prize money was announced by Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe during the CAF Global Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The new reward is the biggest ever for the winners of the competition and shows CAF’s growing investment in women’s football across Africa.
The Super Falcons will head into the tournament as one of the favourites. Nigeria are the defending champions after winning the last edition held in Morocco and will be looking to add another WAFCON title to their impressive record.
Apart from the prize money and the continental trophy, there is another major reward at stake. The four teams that reach the semi-finals will qualify automatically for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The 2026 WAFCON will bring together Africa’s best women’s national teams as they battle for the continental title, a place at the World Cup, and the record $2 million winners’ prize.
