Kings name Drew Doughty 15th captain in franchise history
Doughty has spent his entire 18-year career with L.A., appearing in 1,279 games with 165 goals and 544 assists for 709 points.
The 36-year-old defenceman has been with the Kings for two Stanley Cups and 11 playoff appearances.
Doughty will take over the captaincy from Anze Kopitar, who retired following last season.
In his decorated career, Doughty has been named a four-time all-star and has won the Norris Trophy in 2015-16.
