Paris Saint-Germain snatched a draw away at Rennes (2-2) on the opening day of Ligue 1. Ferran Torres, Paris’s new signing, came on after the break and saved the day for PSG.

Lille and Monaco also got off to a winning start. It was a historic day for France in badminton. Arthur Fils won the Cincinnati Masters 1000. In basketball, Les Bleus beat Serbia in a friendly match. In Formula 1, Lando Norris won the Dutch Grand Prix.
