VANCOUVER — A team that has been tearing at the seams for two seasons is trying to trade a glue guy.
Respected senior defenceman Tyler Myers, part of the Vancouver Canucks’ leadership group and one of the most popular players among teammates, sat out Wednesday’s loss against the Winnipeg Jets after management reportedly presented him with a trade proposal that requires the 36-year-old to waive his no-movement clause.
As an extra skater, Myers participated in Vancouver’s pre-game warmup at Rogers Arena, potentially his final time in a Canucks jersey after he returned to his “home” province as a free agent in 2019.
Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin, who is on a scouting trip, announced about three hours before Wednesday’s game that Myers would not play due to “roster management.” The team made no trade announcements, although players and coach Adam Foote were asked about the situation after Vancouver lost 3-2 in overtime on Cole Perfetti’s goal 1:37 into three-on-three.

Most of them sounded resigned to Myers leaving.
“He’s such a big voice in the room,” winger Brock Boeser, another long-serving Canuck, told Sportsnet. “He’s a big leader and losing him will suck. He’s such a good guy, a great guy for the young guys and everyone around the rink. Personally, I think he deserves the chance to go win a Cup and just hope he chooses the right team.
“We know what’s going to happen; it’s the position we’re in. They’re going to move guys and get what they can. So, yeah, it sucks but it’s part of the business.”
32 Thoughts: The Podcast
Hockey fans already know the name, but this is not the blog. From Sportsnet, 32 Thoughts: The Podcast with NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman and Kyle Bukauskas is a weekly deep dive into the biggest news and interviews from the hockey world.
With the countdown to the National Hockey League’s March 6 trade deadline ticking louder by the day, Canucks populate various media trade boards like Norwegians populate medal podiums at the Winter Olympics.
And yet, Myers’ name has been rare on these trade lists — not because the veteran isn’t a desirable pickup for teams with Stanley Cup ambitions, but because there didn’t seem much chance that the transplanted British Columbian would agree to a move.
The 36-year-old, who was born in Houston but grew up in Calgary, has made Kelowna his home since he won the Calder Trophy with the Buffalo Sabres in 2010. Myers and his wife, Michela, have three children and the eldest, Tristan, has cerebral palsy. Myers has spoken publicly about his family.
The family is settled in B.C. and has support for Tristan.
The fact that Myers didn’t just say no to whatever Canucks management presented him is likely indicative of its potential appeal to a player whose 18-year career in Buffalo, Winnipeg and Vancouver has been played without a Stanley Cup Final appearance.
While Myers’ no-movement clause gives him a veto now, his trade protection diminishes to a 12-team no-go list on July 1 for the final season of his three-year contract. Whether he wants to be traded or not — and Myers has said he’d like to stay — the defenceman is empowered to control his destination now than he will be this summer or next season.
His departure would certainly be a blow to teammates and, especially, the young defencemen on the team he willingly mentors. Myers is frequently the veteran player Tom Willander, Elias Pettersson (Junior) and Zeev Buium approach for advice or support.
“I’m so new to this I don’t know how any of this works, but I love him,” Buium, the 20-year-old rookie, said after the game. “He’s been amazing to me since the first day I got here, texting me, making me feel comfortable. And little things on the ice, systems, getting to know me, speaks volumes to who he is as a person and a player. You can’t just play 1,100 games in this league, so he’s been awesome. Awesome to sit by him (in the locker room) and just pick his brain and hang out with him. Everyone respects him.”
“If he ends up being traded, it will definitely be a missing piece in the locker room, for sure,” Willander, another 20-year-old freshman, said. “It’s not just the knowledge he provides, but he’s also a great person in the locker room, you know? On the ice, he helps with stuff and gives me tips. But I think he’s a great person off the ice, too, and the more people you have like that in the locker room, the better. So it would definitely be a missing piece.”
Of course, other teams appreciate these pieces, too — players who bring value to a dressing room like they bring experience to the ice.
Attrition alone doesn’t explain why Myers, a free-agent signing by former GM Jim Benning, has become the third longest-serving Canuck, surviving one major regime change and four different head coaches.
Without Myers, Vancouver failed twice to hold one-goal leads against the Jets, who have under-achieved this season at least as much as the Canucks have.
Goals by Canucks Drew O’Connor and Evander Kane near the start of the first and second periods were offset by goals from Jets Kyle Connor and Gabe Vilardi.
Goalie Nikita Tolopilo, starting for Vancouver due to Olympic bronze medallist Kevin Lankinen’s late arrival home from Italy, was the main reason the Canucks made it to overtime.
But after making big saves on Connor and Mark Scheifele in OT, Tolopilo couldn’t stop Perfetti’s point-blank shot at the end of a three-on-two rush enabled by Marco Rossi’s poorly-timed change at the end of a long shift.
Myers was replaced in the lineup by Pierre-Olivier Joseph. Willander logged 19:08 of playing time and was on the ice for the overtime winner. In his first game since suffering a facial fracture Jan. 25, Buium finished with 16:30 of ice time while second-year defenceman Pettersson (Junior) logged 19:34. Veteran Canuck blue-liner Filip Hronek led all skaters at 28:53.
Vancouver does not play again until Saturday in Seattle.

“There’s a couple ways to look at it,” coach Adam Foote said of the situation. “Obviously, as a coach, you want to have all the veteran Ds, you want to have all the best players in the world. But this is a different situation where (there is) development and. . . where this organization wants to go. It’ll get a guy like Willander, for example, more reps. Get him prepared in those situations faster to be asked to play in a place that he might not be ready to play in right now. You look at our league, guys are asked to be men before their time starts at 18, 19, 20, right? Just pro hockey, pro sports.”
Foote told reporters he was aware Tuesday night that Myers might not be available to play and was told Wednesday morning that the defenceman had to come out of the lineup. Foote said he asked Myers to take the warmup in case something happened to a teammate.
“He’s a great, great guy, a good human as you all know,” Foote said. “Really enjoyed coaching him, that’s for sure. You know, every year it seems like you lose one you like. It’s part of the game.”
The Canucks traded superstar captain Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild in December, and sent leading goal-scorer Kiefer Sherwood to the San Jose Sharks in January.

Nick Fuentes reacted publicly on X after Candace Owens claimed Charlie Kirk had a “third eye” and said they had discussed astral projection.
Owens made the remarks during a livestream on February 5, 2026, titled An Open Letter to Erika Kirk. In the broadcast, she discussed conversations she said she had with Kirk about supernatural experiences, including what she described as his “third eye,” sleep paralysis, and astral projection.
After clips from the livestream circulated online, Fuentes responded later that month. On February 25, 2026, the fan-run X account Fuentes Updates posted a summary of his reaction. The post stated:
“Once Candace Owens said she can astral project, Nick started getting freaked out 😳 ‘IS SHE IN HERE RIGHT NOW???’”
The quoted remark was presented as Fuentes’ immediate response to Owens’ claim that she could astral project. No additional written explanation was included in the post cited. His reaction focused specifically on her assertion about astral projection rather than the broader set of claims discussed in the livestream.
Candace Owen’s YouTube podcast served as the backdrop to the exchange. During that episode, she described past discussions with Charlie Kirk that she said involved paranormal and metaphysical topics.
Those comments drew attention on social media in the weeks that followed, including the February 25, 2026, post referencing Fuentes’ reaction.

Candace Owens’ claims about a “third eye” and astral projection
In the February 5, 2026, livestream titled An Open Letter to Erika Kirk, Owens detailed conversations she said she had with Kirk regarding what she described as unusual childhood experiences and metaphysical subjects.
She stated:
“Charlie and I spoke a lot about his third eye. That’s why that sentence caught my attention in the article. He spoke about the street lamps that would go off when he would run, about the special school that he had to go to.”
Candace Owens added that they discussed the testing they both underwent during childhood. Owens further said:
“We spoke about the fact that we could both astral project. You know all of this, of course, you have his phone.”
She also referenced sleep paralysis and similar experiences, stating:
“When we learned that not everybody does that naturally. Sleep paralysis, you name it. We had conversations about it.”
Third eye must mean something totally different
In addition to her livestream statements, Candace Owens had previously made similar remarks in an earlier podcast episode published on October 8, 2025. In that episode, she described what she called a vivid dream involving Kirk, stating that he appeared to her and told her he had been betrayed. She said:
“I had a vivid dream this weekend and Charlie came to me and he told me that he was betrayed.”
Candace Ownes further added:
“You don’t have to believe that, but I do believe that… I also felt in the dream that it is soon going to be revealed… that there is nothing and no one that is going to stop the truth from coming out and it is going to have international consequences.”
She concluded that statement by adding:
“Take that to the bank. Quote me on that. Women tend to have a stronger intuition about people, I would say.”
Charlie Kirk’s passing on September 10, 2025, marked a widely noted moment within conservative political media. Since then, public discussion surrounding his life and work has continued, with Candace Owens’ recent claims and the reaction that followed becoming part of that broader conversation.
It has been quite the season for the Bruins, both on and off the court.
Most of the headlines this season, beyond the gym, have involved head coach Mick Cronin.
From questioning his squad’s toughness to kicking Steven Jamerson out of a game to doubting his team’s potential, the seventh-year coach has been borderline embarrassing.
Through it all, though, UCLA has persevered and seems to be peaking at the right time.
The Bruins’ tournament resume got a big boost this week after knocking off Illinois on Saturday and dismantling USC on Tuesday night.
Donovan Dent had a big week. Against Illinois, he played 42 minutes, finishing with 14 points, including the game-winner to cap the upset.
He followed that up with a 30-point performance against the crosstown rivals.
More impressively, over the last two wins, he has dished out 22 assists without turning the ball over in 80 minutes of court time.
The two-game winning streak has improved UCLA’s record to 11-6 in Big Ten play and 19-9 overall.
Winners of seven of their last 10 games, the Bruins seem to have righted some of their woes following a tough two-game swing through the State of Michigan.
The trip to the Great Lakes State is certainly no picnic this season as both the Wolverines and Spartans look like legitimate challengers in March.
But a pair of lopsided losses by an average of 26.5 points in the two contests could have signaled the end for UCLA.
Instead, the Bruins got themselves off the mat with a pair of impressive performances.
Donovan Dent’s shooting should open things up for Trent Perry | UCLA Athletics
This UCLA team enters March with seven of its nine losses coming against Quad 1 opponents, and only one of them at Pauley Pavilion.
If Dent can start finding his shooting stroke consistently—especially on threes—it will be a big lift for the Bruin offense.
The senior point guard has connected on only 24.1% of his triples this season.
That makes his performance against the Trojans all the more promising, as he knocked down five of six from distance.
He ranks fifth in the nation with 7.2 assists per game, but his threat to score from outside will open things up more for the likes of Tyler Bilodeau and Trent Perry.
Perry has stepped up recently as the sophomore guard has reached double figures in nine of his last 10 games, while averaging 15.2 points per outing during that stretch.
UCLA’s offense is averaging 78.0 points per game, ranking 136th nationally, but 77.6% of the team’s scoring has come from five players.
The Bruins could use more production from their bench down the stretch.
UCLA does not have any bad losses this season, with a neutral-site loss at the hands of California being the worst on the resume.
UCLA’s early-season loss to Cal could prove costly| Jan Kim Lim / UCLA Athletics
That loss could loom large down the stretch as the Bears are a fellow bubble team and the head-to-head result could come into play.
The homecourt overtime loss to Indiana would fall into that same category. But UCLA has a chance to erase all bubble talk with a strong finish to the regular season.
Each of the final three games on the schedule would be Quad 1 wins today.
Trips to Minnesota and USC sandwiched around a visit from Nebraska give UCLA the chance to make a statement before they head to Chicago for the Big Ten Tournament.
The Bruins need to continue their current surge. They are right smack dab in the midst of the huge NCAA bubble, but the opportunity is there to separate themselves from the pack.
UCLA had high expectations heading into the season, and they still have time to deliver on them. This is a talented team with the potential to make a lot of noise in March if they click.
The Bruins seem to be getting hot at the right time, but just how hot remains to be seen.

“During that time I think that we weren’t playing badly at a club and I wasn’t playing badly but certain people decided to just send abusive messages after pretty much every game and it got to a point where I thought this is not OK,” Cain added.
“It didn’t matter what I did on the pitch and it does affect you at some point.
“You see so much of it you start thinking, are they right? Obviously you know that they’re not but I think it was becoming so much that sometimes you have to speak out.”
Cain believes people can forget that footballers “are actual humans”, with abuse affecting players’ lives away from the pitch as well as family members.

Therefore, Cain says, she will use her platform to try to prevent further abuse.
“I think when you do say something, people start deleting all the negative comments they’ve made and they think that’s OK,” she added.
“But if I can have a tiny, tiny effect on people maybe thinking before they write something, then I’ll absolutely do that.”
“You have to take the good with the bad sometimes and I understand people can get carried away and let their emotions get away from them, but I think [it is good to have] a reminder that it can have a serious effect on people’s mental health.”
United Football League games will look noticeably different once the 2026 season kicks off.
The spring football league announced several rule revisions for its upcoming season, including a new twist on field goals. Any team that makes a field goal of at least 60 yards will receive four points instead of the traditional three.
“We want to create an exciting game. We want good flow. We want big plays. We want to promote scoring,” UFL head of officiating Dean Blandino told USA Today Sports.

Other notable changes center around punting restrictions. Teams will be barred from punting “anywhere inside the 50-yard line,” the UFL said, except after the two-minute warning in either half.
The past couple of seasons in the NFL saw an uptick in field goal tries from beyond the 60-yard mark. Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey, who played spring football in the USFL from 2022-23, connected on a 64-yard field goal last season.

“Kicking a 65-yard field goal is a lot harder than one from 35,” Blandino added, according to ESPN. “Why should they count the same? So, it promotes excitement. Those are really, really exciting plays, whether it’s an end to half or end of game, and it’s also going to change the strategy of the game as well.”

Other changes in the rules overhaul included a ban of the tush push. The short-yardage play was nearly banned by NFL team owners in 2025.

Kickers will begin kicking off the ball from the 30-yard line during the 2026 season.
Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes recently complained that her federal prison camp did not allow her and her fellow inmates to watch President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address. Holmes is currently incarcerated at Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas after being convicted of three counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud in 2022.
On February 25, 2026, Elizabeth Holmes took to her X account to complain about not being allowed to watch Trump’s State of the Union address, which was held the previous day. She further alleged that the system was “broken” as the federal prison camp allowed inmates to “stay up past count” to watch the BET Awards, adding:
“My federal prison camp let inmates stay up past count for the BET Music Awards. Last night they wouldn’t let us watch the State of the Union. The Bureau of Prisons would rather we be entertained than educated. The system is broken.”
In a follow-up post, she added that she had learned her camp leadership was unaware of the State of the Union address, writing:
“Update: I’ve now learned that Bryan Prison camp leadership was not aware there was a State of the Union address last night. They have committed to ensuring we can watch future presidential addresses, debates, and other major political events going forward.”
Update: I’ve now learned that Bryan Prison camp leadership was not aware there was a State of the Union address last night. They have committed to ensuring we can watch future presidential addresses, debates, and other major political events going forward.I’m grateful for the quick response. Access to civic life shouldn’t end at a prison fence, and now it won’t. Hopefully this will extend to the other 121 federal prisons in this country. 🇺🇸🦅🦅

Elizabeth Holmes is scheduled for release on April 3, 2032
Elizabeth Holmes reportedly dropped out of Stanford University at the age of 19 to focus on developing health care technology and founded Theranos, a blood-testing start-up, in 2003. Her company was funded by the likes of Robert Murdoch, and Holmes became the United States’ youngest self-made billionaire in 2014.
Her company specialized in creating a device, called the Edison, that was believed to conduct conventional laboratory and blood tests with just a finger prick and a few drops of blood. It reportedly offered more than 240 tests ranging from cholesterol to cancer.
However, an exposé by The Wall Street Journal, dated October 16, 2015, cast doubt on the company’s claims. This report instigated a federal probe into Holmes and an indictment that charged Holmes and Theranos executive Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani of misleading and defrauding investors and patients.
Elizabeth Holmes’ trial began in 2022, and she began her sentence in 2023. At the time of her sentencing, U.S. Attorney Stephanie M. Hinds said:
“When fraud is perpetrated on those providing the necessary capital, it staunches investment and can cripple an industry. For almost a decade, Elizabeth Holmes fabricated and spread elaborate falsehoods to draw in a legion of capital investors, both big and small, and her deceit caused the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars. Her sentence reflects the audacity of her massive fraud and the staggering damage she caused.”
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Jury finds Elizabeth Holmes guilty on 4 counts of fraud and conspiracy at her former blood-testing startup Theranos.
Holmes was a new first-time mom before her trial began in 2022, and she gave birth to her second child in 2023, months before she was scheduled to begin her sentencing. She began her sentence on May 30, 2023, and is scheduled to be released on April 3, 2032.
According to a People Magazine interview in February 2025, Elizabeth Holmes maintains her innocence, adding:
“Then it was about forgiving myself for my own part. [And] I refused to plead guilty to crimes I did not commit. Theranos failed. But failure is not fraud.”
Elizabeth Holmes reportedly works as a reentry clerk in prison, earning 31 cents an hour. She also works as a law clerk and teaches French to fellow inmates.

Responsible Gambling on Football Betting Sites
Advertisement
The most important thing to remember is to gamble responsibly. When betting on football, treat it as entertainment and always assume you’ll lose.
Only bet what you can afford to lose and don’t get too carried away by free bet or casino offers.
Make sure you use the responsible betting tools offered by gambling sites such as deposit limits, reality checks, loss limits, time outs and self-exclusion.

If you have gambling-related concerns, seek independent help. There are several UK charities and institutions that offer support, advice and information:

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell speaks to media members during a joint training camp session with the New England Patriots at the TCO Performance Center on August 13, 2025, in Eagan, Minnesota. The joint practice featured competitive drills and game preparation between the two teams. Mandatory Credit: YouTube.
The Minnesota Vikings flopped worse than could have been expected during the first year with J.J. McCarthy under center. When he wasn’t again hurt, he was largely bad, resulting in a 9-8 record and missing the playoffs.
Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is gone. Kevin O’Connell has to get the roster right, and Rob Brzezinski won’t have a true general manager working alongside him until after the NFL Draft. It is assumed that Minnesota will have a new starting quarterback by that point. McCarthy will need to earn the job, and the Vikings aren’t in a position to draft his competition.
Why Willis and Jones Don’t Match Minnesota’s Cost-Benefit Window
Between roster cuts, free agency, and trades, any number of candidates can be considered for Minnesota. There are two who should not be on the radar, though, and both for the same reason: compensation.

Mac Jones and Malik Willis present a similar set of circumstances. Both have found heightened profiles after a change of scenery. Both are backups that teams now have renewed interest in. Both will also cost a lot.
Willis is a free agent, and reports suggest he is absolutely going to secure the bag. That’s a significant gamble for a guy who has shown flashes while still operating in the shadow of Jordan Love. He’s certainly better than the circumstances in Tennessee allowed him to be. $30 million per season on a multi-year deal is a massive contract, however.
#Packers free agent QB Malik Willis is in demand, as expected, and interested teams I’ve spoken to at the Combine in Indianapolis believe him getting at least $30M per year is a foregone conclusion. pic.twitter.com/FzB8GaaNPw
It took Sam Darnold winning 14 games with the Vikings to get that sort of money. Willis’ projection is based on 11 games in Green Bay, over two seasons, in which he threw a whopping 89 passes. It makes sense that the Jets would be interested, since they are always quick to make poor decisions.

Jones won’t cost significant dollars, but handing the 49ers a second-round pick after an 11-game sample in San Francisco is crazy. Jones is on his third team in five years, and still carried just a 13/6 TD/INT across eight starts last season.

It’s possible he’s not the middling option that he proved to be in New England or Jacksonville, but even at his best with the Patriots, the ceiling was probably already shown. For a team like the Vikings, needing to get younger and more sustainable, trading massive draft capital for him is a reach.
The Vikings need to address a bunch of roster problems this offseason. They’ll have to sort out their ugly cap situation, and the quarterback room would be best off crowded with options. These are two that should be struck off the board, though.
