There is a lot of talk over the potential punishments that City could be handed, the truth is it could be various ones, with the Premier League not having set sanctions for financial rule breaches.
Previous cases have seen Eveerton deducted a total of eight points for two breaches, Nottingham Forest four points for one breach. Last season, Leicester City were docked six points for a breach, with the points deduction taken off them while they were in the Championship.
Here are the punishments the independent comission can impose on a club:
- Suspend a club from playing league matches
- Points deductions
- Recommend to the board that league matches be replayed
- Recommend to the board that the league expels the respondent club
- Order compensation
- Cancel or refuse registration of players
- Conditional punishment
- Order the club to pay costs
- Make such other order as it thinks fit
