United are prioritising other areas of the squad this summer. The midfield is set to be overhauled, with a deal already agreed to sign Ederson from Atalanta, while the left side of the squad is also being looked at.
The recruitment team are analysing the left-back options in the transfer market. Newcastle defender Lewis Hall is admired, but he has three years remaining on his contract and manager Eddie Howe wants to keep him.
The Reds are aware of their centre-back situation, but Michael Carrick currently has five senior players in Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, and Ayden Heaven at his disposal.
If it were up to me, one of those players (Martinez) would be sold, and a new centre-back would be brought in, someone with a good fitness record who would have no problem with two games per week.
