Man Utd are yet to sign anyone in January but with Patrick Dorgu out injured Michael Carrick has hinted they could be active before Monday’s deadline.
Michael Carrick has refused to rule out the possibility of Manchester United signing somebody before the transfer window closes on Monday, after being dealt with a blow with the news that Patrick Dorgu has picked up a hamstring injury.
Dorgu had been in fine form for United and started the past two games on the left wing, scoring against Manchester City and Arsenal, but he is now out for a couple of months after picking up the injury at the Emirates.
United have insisted all January that they would only make a move for a player who was a long-term target this month and the chances of that happening were receeding, but Carrick suggested conversations around recruitment were still going on.

“We’re just working through it,” he said. “Never say never because a lot can happen and situations can be thrown up, sometimes it’s in our control and sometimes it’s not.
“We’re calm, we’ve shown what we’re capable of doing as a team. We’ll see what the next few days brings.”
Carrick played down the chances of anyone leaving, with Joshua Zirkzee now back fit having attracted loan interest this month, but he did admit the loss of an in-form player in Dorgu was a blow.
“It’s not ideal, of course it’s not, we don’t want to lose good players from the group,” said Carrick. “That is part of having a squad and assembling a squad. We’ve got players who can do that, it’s the nature of the beast, unfortunately.”
