Mikel Merino was the hero for Spain as La Roja came from behind to defeat Croatia 2-1 in the UEFA Nations League.
Croatia took the lead in the first half, but Merino turned the game around after coming on at the break. The Arsenal midfielder scored twice to complete Spain’s comeback and secure another important victory.
The brace means Merino has now scored three goals in his last two games for Spain, continuing his impressive run of form on the international stage.
His latest performance once again highlighted his importance to Luis de la Fuente’s side, with the midfielder proving decisive when Spain needed him most.
