The Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers might be on the cusp of running it back. According to Mark Kaboly, people in the Steelers building expect Aaron Rodgers to be back with the team for 2026.
“What I’ve heard a lot is they’re expecting him to come back. They are under the impression that he still wants to play. But until you sign on the dotted line, you just never know, especially with Aaron.”
Thanks for the submission!

A fan said, “Might as well bring Rothelisberger back, he’s virtually the same age.”

Another added, “Well how bout the team not sitting around waiting on him like you did last year. Move on, d*mn! The dude will be 43. No one will blame him if he doesn’t want to play anymore.”
One wrote, “A coach with a 2010 offense with a player who was in his prime in 2010. What could go wrong?”
Some fans reacted positively.
One said, “If part of returning is to help Will Howard become the starting quarterback, I’m for him returning.”
Another added, “Aaron Rodgers still has that elite arm talent and veteran savvy to lead. Steelers insiders are expecting him back in 2026, especially with McCarthy reuniting with his old QB. But at 43, the biggest question is if his body holds up for one more run.”
One chipped in, writing, “I’d take him back in Pittsburgh!”
The Steelers have had five starting quarterbacks since Ben Roethlisberger called it a career at the end of the 2021 season. The franchise selected Kenny Pickett in the first round of the 2022 season and he started 24 games in Pittsburgh.
Next up was Justin Fields. Fields started six games in the 2024 season before he relinquished the QB1 spot to Russell Wilson. Wilson started 11 games, leading the Steelers to a playoff berth before departing as a free agent at the end of the 2024 season.
Aaron Rodgers had a mixed first season with the Steelers
Aaron Rodgers joined the Steelers after a two-year spell as the New York Jets’ starting quarterback. He joined on a one-year deal worth $13.65 million.
Rodgers posted a stat line of 3,322 passing yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions while leading the Steelers to 10 wins. The Steelers beat the Baltimore Ravens to the AFC North crown and secured a wild-card round game against the Houston Texans.
However, that was as good as it got as the Steelers lost 30-6 to the Texans. The team was then rocked by Mike Tomlin’s decision to step down as head coach after 19 seasons at the helm.
Rodgers is now considering either returning to the Steelers or announcing his retirement from professional football.
