Report: Rams’ Aaron Donald will not travel for Australia season opener
Aaron Donald’s return from retirement has been delayed by at least one week.
The 10-time All-Pro defensive tackle will not travel to Australia for the Los Angeles Rams’ Thursday night season opener against the San Francisco 49ers, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday.
The Rams want to give Donald more time to ramp up before returning after two seasons away from football, per Schefter.
Donald agreed to a one-year contract for a reported $20 million on Aug. 30, marking his return to the NFL for the first time since retiring after the 2023 season.
The 35-year-old spent his entire 10-year career with the Rams and recorded 111 sacks, including a league-leading 20.5 in 2018. He won three AP Defensive Player of the Year awards and helped the Rams capture the Super Bowl in 2021.
