Shakur Stevenson sets sights on ‘one of the best in the sport’: “We have unfinished business”

Published

on

Shakur Stevenson is determined to face one of his old amateur foes, insisting that they have “unfinished business” to address in the professional code.

The 29-year-old comes off arguably a career-best performance against Teofimo Lopez, who he unanimously outpointed and dethroned for the WBO super-lightweight title in January.

Since then, he has signed with Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing but is yet to announce a date, location or opponent for his next outing.

If he chooses to keep hold of his WBO strap, then the American may be ordered to face former world champion Raymond Muratalla, who has become the sanctioning body’s leading contender at 140lbs.

In an ideal world, though, Stevenson would rather face WBC champion Ryan Garcia, who comes off a second-round stoppage of Conor Benn over the weekend.

The 28-year-old had claimed his world welterweight title by dethroning Mario Barrios in February and, during his post-right interview, Garcia was particularly vocal about wanting to fight Stevenson.

During the Paramount+ broadcast for his win over Benn, meanwhile, Stevenson expressed his own interest in their potential showdown.

“I would love to fight him. Me and him have unfinished business. We fought in the amateurs at 15 years old and he still cries about it to this day. It’s an amazing matchup; I’m one of the best in the sport and he’s one of the best in the sport.”

Stevenson won their amateur bout in 2013 and, even now, would be a sizable favourite heading into their contest.

It is likely that Garcia would also need to meet Stevenson at a catchweight of 144lbs, despite having campaigned at welterweight for his last three fights.

VT’s Vikings Postgame: 6 Quick Thoughts Following a Wild 4th Quarter

Published

on

Well, that was a wild one.

The Vikings postgame considers a team that was playing terribly for a long time. But then everything started to fall into place as the Vikings then started to play terrific. Check out some quick thoughts after the game before a heartier helping of Vikings content later today.

Vikings Postgame: 6 Quick Thoughts

1 — Terrible News for Kyler Murray

Kyler Murray arrived with a few primary concerns:

  1. Work Ethic
  2. Scheme Fit
  3. Size
  4. Injuries

On Sunday, the injuries became an issue. The concussion was the byproduct of an awkward tackle in a random play in a football game. The Vikings appear very likely to see the QB1 miss a minimum of a single game.

After the game, Kevin O’Connell didn’t have any firm insight about Murray’s availability, of lack thereof. What’s pretty obvious, though, is that that was a scary moment that requires caution with Murray’s health. The remaining quarterback depth consists of Carson Wentz, J.J. McCarthy, and Max Brosmer.

2 — Dallas Turner’s Best Game by a Minnesota Mile

He was a monster out there. Easily, that was Turner’s best game since getting drafted. Crucially, it’s not just the sacks:

The Vikings saw Turner feast on the Packers. He had a sack and forced fumble alongside a full helping of pressures and quarterback hits.

3 — DeeJay Dallas on Specials

DeeJay Dallas is a practice squad runner who got bumped up for the game. Go back to watch some of those great special teams reps. The depth runner who is wearing #31 was putting in some awesome work.

4 — The Secondary Was a Mess

In fairness, Jordan Love is a very good passer. WR Christian Watson has the capacity to be a menace, when healthy. TE Tucker Kraft might get overshadowed by other TE talent in the NFC North but he’s a ball player.

Still, that wasn’t good.

The Packers saw their QB1 climb up to 387 yards. Most of that damage came in the meaty portion of the game, not garbage-time stats when things got out of hand. Green Bay pass catchers made wide open catches far too often. The Vikings have a lot to correct.

5 — Ruggedness in Green Grass

The Christian Darrisaw and Max Bredeson pair out into green grass is a force. Check it out:

The Vikings should commit to this sort of thing.

6 — Casual Excellence from Will Reichard

Do you know what really takes the wind out of a team’s sails? A missed kick. The Vikings didn’t have to worry about that in Week 1.

The Vikings have grown accustomed to Will Reichard being automatic. What can’t be forgotten, though, is how helpful that is. The third-year kicker went 1/1 on field goal and 4/4 on extra points.

Credit to rookie holder Brett Thorson, too.

Indian Football League 2026-27 season set to begin on October 30, says AIFF | Football News

Published

on

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Tuesday said that the 2026-27 Indian Football League (IFL) season will commence on October 30, after meeting with representatives of all 11 participating clubs.

The meeting reviewed the 2025-26 season, noting that viewership figures and overall broadcast performance were hugely encouraging, surging to four times higher than the 2024-25 campaign.

As part of regulatory updates for the upcoming season, the Council approved a rule permitting a maximum of three foreign players on the pitch at a time during matches. The league’s footprint will also expand with the inclusion of Nagaland and Odisha as new venues.

Additionally, the IFL Charter, proposed budget, and sponsorship packages for the new season came under detailed discussion.

AIFF Deputy Secretary General M Satyanarayan described the gathering as a very cordial meeting.

“Last season, despite being a truncated campaign, the league generated a lot of interest, and the viewership figures were very encouraging. We are now looking forward to a full-fledged home-and-away season,” Satyanarayan said.

“With new entrants and new venues coming into the league, there is a lot to look forward to, and all of this will add to the excitement around the IFL.” Ahead of Tuesday’s formal meeting, representatives of the IFL clubs and Satyanarayan met Prasar Bharati CEO Gaurav Dwivedi in New Delhi on Monday to discuss the broadcast partnership for the upcoming season, with both sides expressing optimism regarding another successful collaboration.

Phoenix is a judge from the Krampus Compliance Authority, a self-regulatory organization for TOPS. She is described as a powerful, outgoing figure who remains undefeated, thanks to her unique ability to enter a transcendent state that prevents death. This undying factor certainly makes Phoenix an intriguing character in ZZZ from a lore perspective.

In contrast, Severian is a commissioner from the Metropolitan Order Division under New Eridu Public Security. While he serves as a role model for Public Security officers, his brother, Seth, claims otherwise.
