It wouldn’t be a Winter Olympics without some curling drama.

This time, it’s over crowd noise.

Switzerland’s Yannick Schwaller and World Curling are at the forefront after the Swiss skip posted to his Instagram account immediately after beating Czechia 7-3 on Friday at Milano Cortina 2026.

“@worldcurling please stop (discouraging) the crowd from (being) loud, let them go nuts! It is what curling needs,” Schwaller wrote in the caption of his Instagram. “Awesome atmosphere by the Italians.”

In a comment on Schwaller’s post, Great Britain lead Hammy McMillan Jr. wrote “why was there quiet please being projected onto the big screens(?)”

Sportsnet reached out to World Curling for comment.

“We have no issue with the noise and have asked the Sports Production team not to put it (a message on the screen) up again,” World Curling wrote.

World Curling also replied directly in Schwaller’s comment section, saying the Sports Production team put up signs on the big screen after receiving a complaint about the noise.

Curling Canada was in the building for Brad Jacobs’ big win over the U.S. Thursday morning and noticed how loud the Italians were while supporting their home country against Great Britain. The Italians won 9-7.
