Terence Crawford was in attendance to watch Errol Spence Jr’s final fight – a unanimous decision loss to Tim Tszyu in Sydney, Australia.
Spence ended three years of inactivity following a loss to Crawford in 2023 when he returned this weekend against Tszyu. Fighting at middleweight for the first time in his career, the former pound-for-pound star failed to find the previous form that had led him to victories over the likes of Shawn Porter, Kell Brook and Danny Garcia.
Though Spence had his moments, producing some good body work and taking advantage of some quiet periods os action from Tszyu, he looked vulnerable when under pressure and fell away from the contest as the rounds progressed, other than a spirited effort in the eleventh.
“My money is good, it’s working for itself. Everything’s good, man. I got a beautiful family. I thank God that I’m leaving this sport with my faculties intact and my family still by my side. Everything’s gonna go well … This has been a great journey for myself – it’s time to live family life.”
It is a decision that Crawford, who had predicted a Spence win, appears to think is the correct move.
In a series of posts on X, the five-weight world champion provided his thoughts from ringside, ultimately deciding that his former rival’s reflexes are “gone”.
“Body language is not looking good … Tim stronger and just got more snap on his shots. You can see he’s taking Spence shot better than Spence taking his … Reflex’s gone.”
Spence joins Crawford in retirement as one of this generation’s standout welterweight world champions.
Questions of when Max Scherzer’s next start would be have been put to rest.
The Toronto Blue Jays pitcher is set to make his long-awaited return to the major-league mound against the Washington Nationals on Monday, manager John Schneider told reporters Sunday.
In a corresponding move, Spencer Miles will shift to the bullpen.
How the Jays would set up their rotation for the three-game set against the Nationals was still up in the air as they weighed the health of the 41-year-old Scherzer.

However, a strong start from the future Hall of Famer in his final rehab outing on Wednesday looked to be convincing enough to let the Jays give him the ball.
Scherzer threw 56 pitches in five innings, striking out seven. The only baserunner he allowed reached on a fielding error by shortstop Josh Kasevich.
It marked Scherzer’s first rehab outing since before the all-star break, when he received three cortisone shots in his thumb and was forced to miss a scheduled outing.
He was placed on the injured list in June for back spasms but has since been plagued with various injuries, delaying his return to the team.

He has not pitched in a game for the Blue Jays since June 10. He holds a 10.23 ERA in six starts this season for a Toronto team that has been struggling with a lack of starting-pitching depth.

Nigerian midfielder Daniel Daga marked his return to the starting line-up with a goal as Molde came from behind to defeat KFUM Oslo 4-2 in a Norwegian Eliteserien match on Sunday, July 26.
KFUM Oslo made the perfect start, taking the lead in the opening minute of the game. However, Daga brought Molde back into the contest in the 40th minute with a well-taken low shot from inside the penalty area to make it 1-1.
The 19-year-old played for 69 minutes before he was replaced by Enggård, with Molde going on to score twice in the second half to complete an impressive comeback victory.

The goal was Daga’s second appearance since he was acquitted of sexual assault allegations. He had returned to action last weekend, coming off the bench in Molde’s 2-1 home defeat to Brann.
Daga’s goal and strong performance will be a welcome boost for Molde coach Sindre Tjelmeland as the club continues its push for a European qualification place in the Norwegian top flight.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett agreed to a reworked deal that will guarantee him $15.5 million plus incentives, according to multiple reports on Sunday.
Brissett could earn $21 million this season if he meets all incentives. He is slated to become a free agent following the season.
Brissett has been unhappy with his contract all offseason after starting 12 games in 2025 and being projected as Arizona’s starting quarterback again this season.
The 33-year-old Brissett didn’t do on-field work during the team’s mandatory minicamp as he expressed his disdain for his deal due to pay $4.88 million in 2026 with just $1.5 million guaranteed.

However, he participated in Thursday’s first training camp workout with Arizona.
Brissett replaced injured Kyler Murray as the starter last season and completed 64.9% of his passes for career highs of 3,366 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also tossed a career-worst eight interceptions in 485 attempts.
Still, the Cardinals went 1-11 in Brissett’s 12 starts. In the offseason, Arizona hired a new coach in Mike LaFleur and drafted quarterback Carson Beck in the third round of the 2026 draft.
Overall, Brissett is 20-45 as a starter while playing for six teams. He made 30 of his starts for the Indianapolis Colts (2016-19) with 15 coming in 2017 when Andrew Luck was injured. He made 15 more in 2019 after Luck unexpectedly retired shortly before the start of the season.

Brissett has passed for 14,766 yards, 76 touchdowns and 32 interceptions in 101 games. Brissett and Aaron Rodgers both have 1.4 interception rates that are the lowest in NFL history.

As a rookie, Hampton played in just nine games due to injury and finished with 737 scrimmage yards and five touchdowns. He finished as the RB35 but injuries shouldn’t be a concern going forward. Hampton was a durable workhorse in college, not missing a game due to injury over his last two years at UNC, while leading the ACC in carries in both seasons.
His improved health is coupled with better health from Los Angeles’ starting tackles, Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater, as the two Pro Bowlers combined for just six games a year ago. Their returns, plus the addition of former Pro Bowl center Tyler Biadasz gives Hampton one of the best O-lines in football. Another potential breakout that SportsLine’s Fantasy football rankings 2026 have identified: Bears receiver Luther Burden III. A second-round pick in 2025, Burden ranked fourth among Chicago wideouts in targets last year with 60. He turned that into a stat line of 47-652-2, but two of the players who drew more targets in D.J. Moore and Olamide Zaccheaus are no longer in town.
That makes Burden, at worst, the No. 2 receiver for the Bears, and he actually had more yards last year than the presumptive No. 1 in Rome Odunze. Burden is an analytical darling as he ranked third among all NFL wideouts in yards after catch per reception (7.1) and ranked fourth in passer rating when targeted (123.1). The Hawks Chose Winning Now Over Waiting on Potential
NBA teams rarely move on from a No. 1 overall pick this quickly. But Atlanta decided that what Risacher might become someday was less valuable than what Dort already is today.
While Risacher remained one of the league’s younger rotation players entering his third season, the organization concluded that he failed to produce what many expected from a No. 1 overall pick. Although he showed strong moments, his overall role diminished as the season progressed.
During the postseason, Risacher appeared in just three games during the 2025-26 Eastern Conference First Round against the New York Knicks (a series the Hawks lost in six games). In those games, he averaged 7.7 minutes per game, posting 3.7 PPG and 3.0 RPG with no assists, steals, or blocks. He shot 35.7% from the field, including just 20.0% from three-point range, and did not attempt any free throws.

His limited minutes suggest head coach Quin Snyder trusted experience over potential when the stakes were highest. Rather than waiting another year for a potential breakout, Dort offers championship-level experience on both sides of the court.
Dort Gives Atlanta One of the NBA’s Best Perimeter Defenses
The central part of the deal is undoubtedly creating one of the NBA’s strongest perimeter defenses. Dort arrives in Atlanta after spending seven seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he established himself as one of the toughest on-ball defenders while helping the Thunder capture an NBA championship during the 2024-25 season.
Dort, who earned First Team All-Defensive honors in 2024-25, gives Atlanta another versatile player capable of guarding elite scorers across multiple positions. Dort’s addition creates one of the league’s deepest defensive wing rotations alongside Dyson Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker. The Hawks now hold three dynamic defenders capable of switching across positions while disrupting offenses.

For a Hawks team that finished 2025-26 with a defensive rating of 113.7, ranked 9th in the NBA, adding Dort raises the bar. Instead of relying on flashy offensive plays to outscore opponents, Atlanta continues to build a roster designed to win through physicality and defensive pressure.
While Lu Dort headlines the deal, Ryan Nembhard shouldn’t be overlooked.
The former Gonzaga standout earned a reputation as one of college basketball’s most efficient players before going undrafted. Dallas signed him after the draft, and Atlanta saw enough potential to make him part of its long-term plans.

Nembhard arrives as a traditional pass-first point guard with strong decision-making and creation for his teammates. During his collegiate career, he consistently ranked among the nation’s assist leaders while demonstrating the ability to run an offense.

For a Hawks team that lacked point guard depth at times last season, Nembhard is capable of coming off the bench while keeping the offense flowing. His arrival also eases the physical pressure on veteran guards over the course of an 82-game season.
At 23 years old and worth $2.2 million this season, Nembhard represents a low-cost, high-ROI developmental piece. Risacher, meanwhile, carries a $13.8 million salary this season.

Although the future is unknown for Nembhard, Atlanta can turn an undrafted rookie into a dependable backup point guard. He then holds the potential to become a bigger contributor than Risacher was during his time with the Hawks.
This Trade Will Be Defined by What Risacher Becomes
Whether the trade succeeds won’t be determined by Dort; rather, it will be determined by Risacher. If the forward develops into the star that many pictured, critics will forever question why Atlanta gave up on a No. 1 pick too soon.

Yet if Risacher remains the same player he was through his first two seasons, this trade could become one of the boldest and smartest decisions the Hawks have made. Championship contenders make bold and difficult decisions to become elite, and Atlanta seems to want to be in that conversation.
After two seasons, the Hawks decided they had seen enough. Atlanta believes that next season can prove to be one remembered in the city’s history.
On paper, it was difficult to give the Albanian even a puncher’s chance against Joshua, who has faced a far superior level of opposition throughout his career.

Spence looked vulnerable when under pressure and far from his prime. Post-fight, he confirmed that he would be hanging up the gloves at the age of 36 and with a record of 28-2, 22 KOs.

In the aftermath, Crawford was asked by Fight Hub TV if he felt Spence had made the right decision.
“Yeah. He’s been in a lot of wars. With his fighting style – come forward, take some punishment, dish some punishment and try to break somebody down – that type of style only goes so far … Like I said, he was off-balance. He just didn’t have it tonight.”
Worcestershire appeared to be cruising towards victory when Hampshire, chasing 308, needed 48 runs to win with 21 balls remaining and one wicket in hand.
Some big hitting from Andrew Neal took Hampshire to the brink of an astonishing success but, requiring five more off the final three balls, he edged spinner Fateh Singh behind to fall for 48 off 22 balls.
The late drama at New Road was in sharp contrast to events earlier in the day at Radlett, where Middlesex made short work of Glamorgan’s batting line-up.
Naavya Sharma (4-29), Toby Roland-Jones (3-35) and Noah Cornwell (3-1) were the only three bowlers used as Glamorgan, who were 44-1, lost their final nine wickets for 22 runs.

Opener Will Luxton made 117 in Yorkshire’s 325-7 and Coad’s four wickets with the new ball left Sussex on 21-5 as they chased a revised target of 325.
Coad ended with 5-12 from seven overs as Sussex were bowled out for 140 to lose by 184 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method.

Essex beat Derbyshire by nine runs at Chelmsford in the other match in Group B, with both captains leading their sides’ respective batting causes.
Westley, making his 500th career appearance in all formats, scored 102 off 97 balls in the hosts’ 257-7.
Harry Came (97) shared an opening stand of 113 with Martin Andersson but the match looked in the balance when Derbyshire needed 100 more with five wickets in hand.
Charlie Bennett (3-32) broke a seventh-wicket partnership worth 45 between Ross Whiteley and Nick Potts, which proved crucial.
Tadej Pogačar has done it again. The Slovenian cyclist has won the Tour de France for the third consecutive year. He’s won the race five times in his career.
Pogačar has now tied France’s Jacques Anquetil and Bernard Hinault, Eddy Merckx of Belgium and Spain’s Miguel Indurain for most Tour de France championships at five. Indurain remains the only cyclist to win the race five consecutive times, from 1991 to 1995.
