The cost of a Vita Vea extension with the Bucs just went up

Published

on

In the NFL, it is always advantageous to pay players early when they have shown what they are capable of. In the case of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they have done a good job of retaining talent over the years under general manager Jason Licht.

When he hits on a draft pick, they tend to stick around. However, for once, it may have been slow to get one player extended, and the recent work of another team may now create a new complication in their attempts to extend Vita Vea.

On Monday, the Green Bay Packers extended defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt by giving him a three-year, $57 million contract extension with a $20 million signing bonus. That will bring his annual salary to an average of $19 million, which puts him just below the likes of Osa Odighizuwa, Kenny Clark, and Zach Seiler.

Ayyoub Bouaddi ‘agrees transfer’ as he picks between Man City and Man United

Published

on

Ayyoub Bouaddi is one of the most sought-after young talents in world football, and Manchester City are reportedly leading the race to sign the Lille midfielder, with Arsenal and Manchester United also linked

Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi appears to have chosen to move to Manchester City this summer, with the talented midfielder reportedly agreeing terms on a contract with the club. Several Premier Leagues including Manchester United and Arsenal have also been linked with the World Cup star.

The Morocco international was one of the standout players at this summer’s World Cup in North America, as he helped his side reach the quarter-finals before losing to France. His performance have led most of Europe’s top clubs to show interest in the 18-year-old.

Bouaddi currently plays for Ligue 1 side Lille. Reports claim that they are asking for around €100 million (£85 million) if they are to cash in this summer.

The club’s chairman Oliver Letang hinted at his asking price earlier this month, stating: “When I see [Elliot] Anderson move to Manchester City for £116 million and [Sandro] Tonali to Tottenham for £100 million, and they don’t have the potential for development that Ayyoub has because he possesses unique qualities.

“I have a price in mind, and we’ll see what happens.”

According to journalist Nicolo Schira, the teenager has agreed a contract with City running until 2031. The club will now enter into negotiations with Lille in a bid to reach an agreement over the transfer fee.

It is also reported that City anticipate two other ‘top European clubs’ making their move, though their identities remain undisclosed. Arsenal and United are amongst the clubs most strongly linked with an interest in the player.

Reports indicate that City view Bouaddi as someone capable of slotting directly into Enzo Maresca‘s first team, despite the £116 million acquisition of England international Anderson. This could have given them an advantage over competing clubs.

Former France international Emmanuel Petit has heaped praise on Bouaddi. “He’s been one of the strongest young players in France,” he told talkSPORT.

“We’ve seen that against Brazil. He’s shown maturity and personality.

“Even at the end of the game, I saw him try to dribble in his own penalty area. The confidence, he’s got quality, he’s got physical presence, he’s got the tactical knowledge, he’s got the technical skills.

“I’m not surprised at all that he’s been targeted for two seasons now with the big clubs in Europe, and it will be a fierce battle to get him.”

Thousands of Man City fans upgraded their matchday last season. This is how they did it.

Alexander Bublik vs Facundo Diaz Acosta preview

Top seed Alexander Bublik will face off against unseeded Facundo Diaz Acosta in the second round of the 2026 Generali Open on Wednesday.

Bublik received a first-round bye as the tournament’s top seed and defending champion, so this will be his first match of the week. He arrives with a streaky season by his own standards, but he’s the heavy favorite here after winning this exact title last year.

Diaz Acosta reached the second round with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Federico Cina, backing up a strong 2026 that’s already included four Challenger titles this season. It’s been a career-best year for the Argentine as he continues building momentum on clay heading into a tough test against the defending champion.

Alexander Bublik vs Facundo Diaz Acosta prediction

Bublik’s raw talent is the clearest factor here, and even in a season with plenty of ups and downs, he’s shown he can flip a switch when the occasion calls for it, especially as the defending champion looking to protect his title. That combination of ceiling and motivation is hard to match against a lower-ranked opponent.

Diaz Acosta, by contrast, is riding real confidence into this one, having ground out a three-set win over Cina in his opener as part of a career-best season that’s already produced four Challenger titles. He’s clearly building momentum, even if this is a significant step up in class from his usual level of competition.

Neither player has faced the other before, so there’s no history to lean on. Given the gap in level and Bublik’s extra incentive as defending champion, this looks like a clear-cut match on paper, though Diaz Acosta’s clay-court form makes total domination less of a given.

Pick: Bublik to win in straight sets.
