The Inner Circle: “You are legendary”

Abdulla Dayakaev of Russia secured his second straight win over “The Kicking Machine” Superlek at The Inner Circle 25 on Friday at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok.

After the rematch, the Dagestani fighter left with emotions that went well beyond a result on his record.

When Superlek’s right leg gave way in round two and the referee stepped in, the rivalry ended not with the finish Dayakaev had envisioned. Still, the 24-year-old was left with genuine concern for the man across from him.

Long before they ever shared the ring, Dayakaev had followed Superlek’s career and held him in the highest regard.

“Thank you, Superlek, for everything, for these two fights,” he told ONE Championship. “I wish you all the best. I wish you the best recovery and a fast recovery. I know you are a great fighter. You are legendary. I want to see you fight in kickboxing at 135 pounds again. I don’t want to fight with you again, but I respect you.”

Abdulla Dayakaev sets sights on Rambolek-Yod-IQ winner

With the Superlek chapter firmly closed, Abdulla Dayakaev’s attention shifts to the bantamweight Muay Thai title picture. Champion Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon defends against Yod-IQ Or Pimolsri at The Inner Circle 30 on Sept. 11, and Dayakaev has a score to settle with both men.

He has lost to each of them, giving the matchup a layer of personal stakes beyond the title itself.

“I really want to show myself in a world title fight,” he told ONE. “Right now, there’s almost nobody left. I want to fight the winner because Yod-IQ and Rambolek are two great fighters. I respect them also. I want to get the answer, and I want to fight the winner.”
