Free bets can be claimed from betting sites by new and existing customers, allowing bettors to bet without risking their own money.
Terms and conditions are attached to free bets and betting offers. Usually, bettors must deposit or stake a qualifying amount to claim a free bet, which can be used on selected sports and events.
Wagering requirements can be attached to free bet offers, which means winnings must be played through a set number of times before you can withdraw funds as cash, but this is more common on casino sites.
Types of free bets
Advertisement
Bet & Get: The most common betting sign-up offer, bet a minimum amount, meet the T&Cs and receive a free bet bonus.
Moneyback specials: Typically an ongoing free bet promo, whereby punters get their money back as a free bet if there’s an underwhelming outcome such as a 0-0 draw.
Free bet clubs: Loyalty reward schemes aimed at those who bet regularly with one bookmaker in particular.
Enhanced odds with free bet winnings: A bookmaker offers a wildly inflated price on a popular market, such as 40/1 on Man City to win, with winnings paid out as free bets.
No deposit free bets: These are rare, but can be obtained via free-to-play prediction games on several online bookmakers.
Free bets are straightforward to use for customers, although the way they can be deployed may differ depending on your chosen bookmaker.
Usually, betting sites will have a box or toggle on your bet slip that users can tick or move to confirm free bets on their bet.
An important note. If your bet wins, you only keep the profit, the free bet stake itself isn’t returned.
Bookmakers may require you to use free bets in precise portions, such as £5 or £10, while others will allow you to bet with amounts of your choosing until you’ve used up your balance.

Below, we’ve provided some detail on common traps that users can fall into when claiming free bets:
Stake not returned on free bets
Not all free bet offers return the original stake if your bet wins. For example, a £10 free bet at 3/1 pays £30 profit, not £40; always factor this in when comparing headline free bet amounts.
Short expiry windows
Advertisement
Free bets usually expire within 5-7 days of being credited, and occasionally less. Unused free bets are removed automatically once they expire, so casual or infrequent bettors can lose value this way.
Remember to always check the expiry date as soon as the free bet is added.
Bet builder or market restrictions
Some free bets are limited to certain types of use. For example, some are football bet builders only, accumulator bets or bets fixed to specific sports, leagues or events. These restrictions reduce flexibility and can increase risk.
Bet builder-only free bets often require multiple selections to win, meaning long odds, and it is the same with accas. Remember to check eligible markets before placing your qualifying bet.
Minimum odds requirements
Betting offers may require minimum odds on either the qualifying bet or the free bet itself, and sometimes both. Higher odds thresholds can push bettors toward riskier selections, while a smaller free bet with low odds requirements can offer better value.
Cash-Out and In-Play exclusions
Advertisement
Remember that cashing out a qualifying bet often voids eligibility for the offer. Some free bets also cannot be used on in-play markets.
These exclusions are commonly hidden in the T&Cs, so avoid cashing out unless you’re sure it won’t affect the promotion.
Wagering requirements and bonus conditions
Wagering is uncommon on free bets, but it is not unheard of. Some promotions attach extra conditions to winnings or follow-on bonuses instead.
Offers requiring winnings to be wagered multiple times reduce real value, while simpler “bet and get” free bets are usually the safest option.
Before a bookmaker makes our list of free bet offers, they must meet key criteria to ensure a high-quality betting experience.
1. Licensing
Only sites with a valid UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) licence are considered on our list of recommended operators.
The UKGC ensures fair play and consumer protection, working alongside independent testing agencies like eCOGRA. If a bookmaker isn’t regulated, it’s not safe – anyone can verify a licence via the UKGC register.
2. Security
Every bookmaker we recommend must implement high-quality security measures such as SSL encryption and two-factor authentication to protect customer data.
3. Reputation
Advertisement
Reputation also plays a role – established brands like Betfred, William Hill and Bet365 consistently rank highly with us, but we also highlight new, reputable operators such as BetMGM when their free bet offers meet our expectations.
4. Mobile
With most bets now placed on phones and tablets, mobile betting functionality is essential.
Bookmakers with dedicated betting apps that mirror the desktop experience are given preference, and we also consider user app reviews from the Apple and Google Play stores.
5. Experience
The customer experience is equally crucial – we rigorously test bookmaker support channels, favouring those that provide fast, effective resolutions.
Ultimately, our rankings focus on the quality of the free bet offers, but we also take into account matters including odds restrictions, timeframe to both unlock free bet offers and use your bonus funds, wagering requirements and available payment methods.
6. Value

Operators that provide valuable betting sign up offers, competitive terms, and ongoing free bet promotions for returning customers get the highest ratings.

If you decide to engage with any of the online betting sites highlighted on this page, remember to gamble responsibly, even when using free bets and betting sign up offers.
When betting, always assume you’ll lose and therefore, only bet what you can afford to lose. Even free bets still involve a level of risk.
Make sure you use the responsible gambling tools offered by betting companies such as deposit limits, reality checks, loss limits and time outs. These can stop gambling from getting out of hand.
If you have gambling-related concerns, then seek independent help. There are several UK charities and institutions that offer support, advice and information, with a few listed below:
Are free bets withdrawable?
No, it is not possible to withdraw a free bet. It must be used according to the terms and conditions of the free bet offer or it will be forfeited.
Can you cash out free bets?
In most cases, bookmakers will not allow punters to cash out a free bet before the bet has run its course, so you will likely have to wait for your bet to settle before receiving any winnings.
What does money back in free bets mean?
This means you can get a refund on your stake, but not as withdrawable cash – only as a free bet, meaning you have to stake the same cash again on a different bet.

What is the best betting sign up offer available now?
In the Independent’s view, Coral provides the best betting sign up offer on the market at present. New customers need only sign up and deposit £5 before betting £5 on any sports market with odds of 1/2 or greater to unlock £30 in free bets.
What betting sites give free bets without a deposit?

Atlanta United and New England Revolution will battle for three points in MLS Eastern Conference action on Wednesday (April 22nd). The game will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The home side are coming into the game on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Nashville SC at the same venue over the weekend. Cristian Espinoza broke the deadlock just past the hour mark, while Shak Mohammed stepped off the bench to secure the win in injury time.
Thanks for the submission!

The Revolution, meanwhile, claimed maximum points with a 2-1 comeback home win over Columbus Crew. They went into the break behind to Max Arfsten’s 24th-minute strike, but Dor Turgeman equalized nine minutes into the second half. Carles Gil scored the match-winner from the spot with five minutes to go.
The win saw them climb to fifth spot in the Eastern Conference standings, having garnered 12 points from seven games. Atlanta United are second-from-bottom with four points to their name.
Atlanta United vs New England Revolution Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
New England Revolution have seven wins from the last 17 head-to-head games. Atlanta United were victorious six times, while four games ended in draws.
Their most recent clash came in September 2025 when the Revolution claimed a 2-0 home win.
The away side on the day have won just one of the last eight head-to-head games (five losses).
The Revolution have lost their last six away games on the bounce.
Atlanta United have won just one of eight league games this season, losing six matches in this run.
Five of the Revolution’s seven league games this term have produced three goals or more.
Atlanta United vs New England Revolution Prediction
Atlanta United have made a poor start to the season. They started the league campaign with a win against Philadelphia Union in their opening home game of the season, but are winless in three games since then (two losses).
New England Revolution, for their part, have been more consistent and are unbeaten in their last four competitive games (three wins in regulation time).
We expect the two sides to battle it out in an entertaining and high-scoring stalemate.
Prediction: Atlanta United 2-2 Philadelphia Union

The NHS Couch to 5K app is celebrating its 10-year anniversary having been downloaded more than eight million times.
The app, which is a collaboration between the BBC and the Department of Health and Social Care is a free, beginner-friendly running plan and aims to help people go from being non-runners to be able to complete 5km.
As well as eight million downloads, the app has also supported more than one billion minutes of movement since its launch in 2016.
To mark the anniversary, a series of special programmes across the BBC are taking place – including a Traitors special of the BBC Sport Couch to 5K Podcast.

“NHS Couch to 5K has been a real success story and to achieve supporting over one billion minutes of movement over a decade from runners across the UK is truly incredible,” said the BBC’s chief content officer Kate Phillips.
“We all know the physical and mental benefits of taking up regular exercise.”
The NHS says regular running has been shown to reduce the risk of long-term illnesses, such as heart disease, type two diabetes and stroke, as well as helping to maintain a healthier weight and improve mood and wellbeing.

Fans lashed back at Mark Martin after he congratulated Daniel Dye on securing a maiden NASCAR Cup Series opportunity despite the young driver’s recent suspension. Dye was indefinitely suspended by NASCAR and Kaulig Racing for making homophobic, disparaging comments during a livestream, in which he mocked IndyCar driver David Malukas last month.
Martin, one of NASCAR’s most respected former drivers, responded on X (formerly Twitter) with a simple two-word message that quickly made the rounds online. However, instead of sparking celebration, his reaction drew sharp criticism from fans who questioned both the timing and the sentiment behind it.
Thanks for the submission!

Reacting to Dye’ big Cup Series ride news, Martin wrote:
“Let’s go 👊🏼 @bjmcleod78 @danieldye43”

Martin’s reputation as a respected voice in the garage has taken a temporary hit, with several fans even expressing disappointment in the veteran driver.
Here are some of the fans’ reactions:
“Yikes. What a horrible take.” One fan wrote
@markmartin @danieldye43 @bjmcleod78 Yikes. What a horrible take.

“Sorry Martin but this isn’t it. Daniel hasn’t learned and grown as a person yet so why would he now?” Another fan said.

“How do you go from championing hard working drivers who make it on talent and working on their own equipment, to cheering a spoiled rich kid riding daddies money with multiple behavioral issues, who washed out of Xfinity” a third user said.
Daniel Dye started the 2026 campaign as one of the full-time drivers for the Kaulig Racing Ram Truck program in the Truck Series but was handed a suspension for violating the NASCAR rulebook over insensitive comments. He was reinstated later in March 2026 after completing mandatory sensitivity training and subsequently stepped down from his role as Kaulig driver.
Daniel Dye to make select NASCAR Cup Series starts in 2026
Daniel Dye is all set to make four NASCAR Cup Series appearances in 2026, with his debut coming this weekend at the Jack Link’s 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. He will driver the #78 Chevrolet for Live Fast Motorsports with a primary sponsorship from Champion Container, a company owned by his father.
The Deland, Florida native will next compete at Pocono Raceway (June 14), followed by Daytona International Speedway (August 29) and Talladega Superspeedway (October 25).

Dye returned to stock car racing following his suspension, making an appearance at the ARCA Menards Series Tide 150 at Kansas Speedway last weekend, where he secured a P2 finish.

Akwa United have spoken for the first time after missing out on promotion from the Nigeria National League, sending a strong message to rivals, the state government, Ibom Air and their supporters.
The Promise Keepers ended their 2025/2026 season with a 2–1 away win against Solution FC in Awka, but it was not enough to secure promotion. Sporting Lagos claimed the only ticket in Conference B by just one point.
In an official statement signed by the club chairman, Mr Joseph Eno, Akwa United congratulated their rivals and reflected on a tough season.
“We extend our warm congratulations to Sporting Lagos on their achievement. They provided formidable competition throughout the season, and the race for promotion remained intense until the final day of the league season.”
The club highlighted their strong performances during the campaign, including an unbeaten home record, three away wins, and one draw on the road.
“Our campaign was marked by an unbeaten home record, three away victories, and one away draw. Unfortunately, these efforts were not sufficient to secure promotion. While this outcome is disappointing, we accept it in the true spirit of the game and now turn our focus to the challenges ahead.”
Akwa United also took time to appreciate the support they received throughout the season, starting with the Akwa Ibom State Government.
“We express our profound gratitude to our sports-loving Governor, His Excellency Umo Eno, for his unwavering support and commitment to Akwa United Football Club. We remain resolute in our determination to achieve our promotion objective next season.”
The club also praised the Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, for his consistent backing.
“Our sincere appreciation also goes to our pillar of support, the Honourable Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, whose consistent backing has been invaluable. We only wish our results had fully reflected his dedication and efforts.”

Akwa United did not forget their sponsors, especially Ibom Air, whose support they described as vital to the team’s progress.
“We also acknowledge our worthy partners and sponsors, Ibom Air, whose continued support has strengthened and uplifted the team. Their reliability remains a great source of encouragement, and we look forward to celebrating shared success in the near future.”
The club reserved special praise for their fans, who stood by the team both at home and away.
“To our loyal and passionate fans, we say thank you. Your support—both at home and on the road, as well as your strong online presence—has been a constant source of inspiration throughout the season. We urge you to continue standing with us, and we promise to make you proud.”

Despite the setback, Akwa United made it clear that their season is not over, as attention now shifts to the President Federation Cup.
“Although the NNL season has come to an end, our journey this football season continues. The President Federation Cup presents another opportunity to achieve success. Our campaign resumes on Monday, April 20, as we compete in the semifinals of the State FA Cup at the State level.”
The club admitted disappointment but insisted they will come back stronger.
“As a club, we are disappointed but proud of the effort put into this promotion race. We fought until the final whistle of the league season. We will carefully review the lessons from this season and take decisive steps to ensure we return stronger, better prepared, and ready to fight for promotion next season.”

In a related development, Akwa United booked their place in the final of the 2026 Akwa Ibom State FA Cup after a dominant 4-0 victory over Heaven’s Race Academy, while also sealing qualification for the 2026 Nigeria President Federation Cup.
The Promise Keepers delivered a strong performance in the semi-final, with goals from Daniel Gothom, Yannick Menegbe, and a brace from Aniebiet Sunday securing a comfortable win.

The NBA action in the postseason was scintillating on Sunday night with Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs flexing championship-caliber potential against Portland.
While Wemby rests, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets duel in one of the more entertaining first-round matchups in the Western Conference playoffs.
Minnesota has listed Anthony Edwards was questionable, which seems to swing the pendulum in Denver’s favor.
Here’s a closer look at our lean in Monday’s matchups:
Nuggets-Timberwolves over 231.5 (-110, FanDuel)
Anthony Edwards had a miserable shooting night on Saturday but averaged over 28 points in four games against the Nuggets this season. If he’s able to play in Game 2, Minnesota will have to score big to stay in the same stratorsphere as the Nuggets, one of the NBA’s best home playoff teams.
Denver is not known for defense, yielding nearly 120 points per game this season, and Minnesota moves the ball effectively to take advantage of openings.
Edwards is the player who makes it all click. But he missed 11 of the Timberwolves’ last 14 games of the regular season with right knee inflammation before logging 38 minutes and admitting to rust and fatigue in Game 1 on Saturday.
If Edwards can play, we like the over on the total with the over on his point production (26.5).

There has been a little movement in the Knicks’ favor — not a surprise, but by point of fact — from the opening line of 5.5 and the total is up a point to 217.5. At FanDuel the public is on the under.
Why? We need to know if the Hawks can score on the road when 3s aren’t falling. The answer was no on Saturday night in Game 1.
New York chases a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series after a 113-102 victory in the series opener.
That’s not to say the Hawks can’t score. They finished the regular season sixth in scoring (118.5 points per game) and fifth in 3-point shooting at 37.1 percent.
The Hawks might have hit the comeback button, but it malfunctioned when Atlanta missed 15 of 21 attempts from 3-point range in the second half.
The Hawks didn’t heat up until the waning minutes of the fourth quarter. That 11-0 run that cut a 19-point deficit to 106-98.

Former Manchester United man Nicky Butt has delivered a scathing critique of Alejandro Garnacho, pointing to the behavioural concerns that marked his time at the club.
Humiliated
Garnacho endured an extremely difficult game on Saturday as United beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. He came on in the first half for the injured Estevao and had no impact whatsoever for the Blues, who are currently in a torrid run of form.
Diogo Dalot had a comfortable game against the forward, who repeatedly broke down Chelsea’s attacks and bizarrely kept tumbling over even under minimal pressure.
After the final whistle, Luke Shaw appeared to aim a dig at the Argentina international when he posted a picture of himself flooring the Chelsea star to the ground. Several United players responded to the post, ridiculing Garnacho and offering a stark indication of how unpopular he may have been within the Old Trafford dressing room.
Since joining Chelsea from United last summer, Garnacho has struggled to make an impact. His departure from United was somewhat acrimonious, following a public falling out with then-manager Ruben Amorim. Unhappy at being left on the bench for the Europa League final loss to Tottenham, Garnacho criticised Amorim for the decision while also raising questions about his future at the club.
The shocking episode was the final straw in a long history of misconduct by the 21-year-old and his brother, with United appearing to have finally run out of patience.
A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe was over the moon and could hardly contain his joy when Chelsea lodged a £40m bid for Garnacho.
Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, United legend former academy manager and coach (coached reserves and briefly served as Ryan Giggs’ assistant), Nicky Butt, ripped into Garnacho’s attitude and shed some details on his experience with the player.
Butt tears into Garnacho
Butt said, “He signed at 16. I was academy manager at the time and he signed in a deal where they also signed Alvaro (Fernandez). Garnacho was always a bit stand-off-ish; he had a high opinion of himself. I thought he had an edge about him. And when he got into the first team – I will just say what I think because I was there – he got above his station way too quick. He got superstar status way too quick.”
“And that’s not a former player saying they get paid too much, I hope young players get paid millions, but he got superstar status too quick and he obviously scored the bicycle kick which was phenomenal.”
“Someone in that club or team at the time should have been swatting him down, and they might have been, and he ignored them. But the best thing Man United did was sell him because, forget his ability, and I don’t think he is that great anyway, but I thought his attitude was a disgrace when he was at Man United.”
Butt added, “More importantly when he left, and if you completely disrespect your teammates and the football club when you leave, then that’s it.”
“It is common knowledge that (Amorim) told him on the final game of the season that he can go find a new club. If he had been in our team then he would have been taken out every single day in training with the players we were brought up with.”
“He would have been treated really badly, he’d have learned from that and got better.”
“He was 21 or whatever when he left the club but you can’t be up your own backside thinking you are as big or bigger than Man United. In an interview recently, I watched it and he said: ‘I thought I should have played every game.’ I was thinking number one, you weren’t even that good, and number two you are young, be humble.”
“What I would say is that he was very mentally strong. We had a lad called Anthony Elanga, I thought he was better, if he went at the right-back and lost the first three he wouldn’t do it again. He wouldn’t want to give the ball away. He is different now.”
“Garnacho had that mentality to just keep going, that’s his biggest strength and that is why every now and again he will do something unbelievable. He has massive belief in himself.”
Garnacho made 144 appearances for United, scoring 26 goals during that period. He also provided 22 assists.
Jones kicks off his title bid with a tough test against Mark Selby, who will be hunting a fifth world title to add to his impressive trophy cabinet.
Cwmbran’s ‘Silent Assassin’ will be hoping he can repeat his heroics of 2024 and go one step further to win his first ranking title.
And while last year’s champion Xingtong will be intent on breaking the ‘Crucible curse’, Jones is focused on himself.
“I honestly don’t mind who I play. I just concentrate on myself and If I play well then I’m sure I’ll be a game for anybody,” said Jones.

“When I’d gone there the first or second time you don’t know what you’re capable of. I suppose now I know that I can play well there and can do well there. So that gives me a lot of confidence and belief.”
At the Crucible Jones will look to become just the fourth Welshman to become world champion, following in the footsteps of Terry Griffiths, Ray Reardon and Mark Williams.
“I enjoy playing at the Crucible, you either love it or hate it and you can crumble, but I enjoy the atmosphere,” said Jones.
“It’s an unbelievable venue to be honest and I’m really looking forward to it.”
The Ottawa Senators are heading home down 2-0 after losing a dramatic double-overtime Game 2.
The goal came after Martinook nearly scored on a penalty shot as part of a wild chain of events in the first overtime period.
That sequence began when Hurricanes forward Mark Jankowski first appeared to score the overtime winner on a delayed penalty but the goal was overturned due to an offside review. Martinook was still awarded a penalty shot for the Senators’ delayed penalty, but Linus Ullmark made the save to keep the game alive.
After going down 2-0 in regulation, Drake Batherson and Dylan Cozens each scored for the Senators in the second period to even the game.

In the third period, the Senators doubled the Hurricanes in shots but they couldn’t finish the chances, forcing the game to overtime.
For the Hurricanes, Logan Stankoven opened the scoring with his second playoff goal in as many games. Sebastian Aho also scored for the home team.
The Senators and Hurricanes are off to Ottawa where they will meet again on Thursday for Game 3.
If you thought you’d seen everything in an NHL hockey game, think again.
In one of the most chaotic sequences you will ever see, the Ottawa Senators were able to survive to a second period of overtime against the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 2 on Monday.
With the Senators called for a delayed penalty, Hurricanes forward Mark Jankowski appeared to bury the overtime winner to give Carolina a 2-0 series lead.
But after a league-mandated review, the goal was waved off for offside.

The league determined that Hurricanes forward Jordan Staal had possession but not control of the puck when his skates went over the blue line on the initial entry to the zone, per Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.
Rule 83.1 of the NHL rulebook states in part: “A player controlling the puck who shall cross the line ahead of the puck shall not be considered ‘off-side,’ provided he had possession and control of the puck with his stick prior to both skates completely crossing the leading edge of the blue line.”
However, the absurdity of the sequence was far from over.
Because the Hurricanes scored with the Senators on a delayed penalty, Carolina was still in line to receive the penalty after the disallowed goal.

That call was made with reference to Rule 38.7 of the NHL rulebook, which states in part: “If one or more penalties (minor or major) are assessed between the time of the missed infraction and the video review that disallows the apparent goal, the offending team(s) (and responsible Player(s)) will still be required to serve the penalty(ies) identified and assessed, and the time of the penalty(ies) will be recorded as the time at which the play should have been stopped for the missed infraction.”
But this call wasn’t just a regular penalty, as the referees determined that Jordan Martinook had a clear scoring chance taken away and awarded the Hurricanes forward a penalty shot.
Senators goalie Linus Ullmark came up big and stopped Martinook, and after all was said and done, the game headed to another 20 minutes of overtime.
Martinook would get the last laugh, however, as he made up for his penalty shot miss in the second overtime by scoring the game-winner.

Luckily for both teams, there are two days off to recover before Game 3 in Ottawa on Thursday.
