The Indian football team return to England for the first time in 24 years as they prepare to face Jamaica in the Unity Cup 2026 semifinal in London on Wednesday. The Blue Tigers last played on English soil back in 2002, coincidentally against the same opponents, and the upcoming clash presents another major test for Indian football under head coach Khalid Jamil.
India head into the contest after an encouraging victory over Hong Kong, but the challenge against Jamaica will be significantly tougher. Ranked 136th in the world, the Blue Tigers are clear underdogs against the 71st-ranked Reggae Boyz, who narrowly missed out on qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026 after a playoff defeat to DR Congo earlier this year.

Jamaica will be eager to bounce back strongly from that disappointment and are expected to dominate possession with their physical and high-intensity style of play. India, meanwhile, will rely on defensive organisation, discipline and quick transitions to trouble their opponents. A positive result would be a major statement for Jamil’s side, while Jamaica will see the tournament as an opportunity to rebuild confidence and push for silverware.

India’s squad has been reduced following the withdrawal of several Mohun Bagan Super Giant players after the club recalled them from national duty. Defender Anwar Ali is also unavailable due to injury, while Ashique Kuruniyan misses out as well. Midfielder Macarton Nickson, defender Nikhil Barla, and forwards Mohammed Sanan and Vikram Partap Singh have been added to the squad.

Germany have sealed their place in the FIFA World Cup knockout stages after beating Curacao and the Ivory Coast in their opening matches. Die Mannschaft will also finish on top of the Group as they have a better head-to-head to Cote d’Ivoire, the only side who can match them in the points tally.
Julian Nagelsmann’s side will take on a third-place side from Group A, B, C, D or F in the Round of 32. The match will take place on June 29 at the Boston Stadium.
Thanks for the submission!

Brazil were the toughest opponents possible for Germany in the Round of 32, but with Selecao beating Scotland and winning all their games, that has been ruled out. Morocco are also ruled out from Group C, as they finished second, but Scotland remain in the mix.

The loser of Paraguay vs Australia are a possibility for the Germans, and their match takes place today, June 25, at Santa Clara. Both teams have three points each, and a draw would see Paraguay finish third with four points and a -2 goal difference.
Japan vs Sweden will also be a match Germany will have to keep an eye on today. The Netherlands have not won Group F yet, but Tunisia have been eliminated, and the loser of Japan and Sweden will finish third regardless of the result in the other game.
The other possible opponents for Germany in the FIFA World Cup Round of 32 are South Korea from Group A or Bosnia-Herzegovina from Group B. They finished third after their matches yesterday, June 24, and have sealed their place in the knockout stage.
Germany boss hits out at FIFA World Cup schedule
Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann is not happy with the FIFA World Cup schedule. He believes that his side are being punished for finishing on top of their group as they have less than 48 to prepare for their Round of 32 game and said:
“I think you’re a bit punished as a group winner. We divided up the potential opponents. I watched three or four matches, and the analysis team did as well. Everyone can imagine there are better ways to spend Saturday night than working through it. It will be an all-nighter; we want to have large parts of it prepared so we don’t have to create the match plan in a huge rush on Sunday. We’ll manage it, we’re almost all still young in the coaching staff, so we can work through the night if necessary.” (via iMiaSanMia)
Germany thrashed Curacao 7-1 in the first match, before coming from behind to beat the Ivory Coast in the second match of the FIFA World Cup.
Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka is yet to win Wimbledon and is the top seed on the women’s side, ahead of former champion and world No 2 Elena Rybakina and defending champion Swiatek. French Open winner Mirra Andreeva carries good form onto the grass.
From a British perspective, Emma Raducanu returns as the 30th seed after an impressive run to the Queen’s final, although amid a fresh injury worry, while former world No 4 Jack Draper is unseeded as he returns to action after a year of injury hell.

Everyone will be desperate to see who Serena Williams plays in her first singles match in four years. She could play anyone, from world No 1 Aryna Sabalenka down to a fellow wildcard like Britain’s Katie Swan. Defending champion Iga Swiatek will hope for a good draw when she opens play on Centre Court on Tuesday – perhaps she will land in the same quarter as last year’s runner-up Amanda Anisimova, who Swiatek defeated 6-0 6-0. British No 1 Emma Raducanu, the 30th seed, has found some form on the grass and is likely to be handed a collision course with a big name by the third round. As for dangerous floaters, as well as Williams, recent Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova returns as an unseeded player, although her compatriot and fellow former winner Marketa Vondrousova is out after receiving a four-year ban for refusing a doping test.

As always, where Novak Djokovic lands in the draw will be fascinating. As seventh seed, he could be drawn to face defending champion Jannik Sinner as early as the quarter-finals. After excellent performances at the French Open, all eyes will be on rising stars Rafael Jodar and Joao Fonseca as they enter seeded 23rd and 24th respectively. Former world No 4 Jack Draper could be a dangerous floater as the popular Briton returns alongside new coach Andy Murray, while former Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini is also unseeded.

Haiti striker Duckens Nazon became the first player with Indian Super League (ISL) experience to play in a FIFA World Cup match when came on as a substitute against Morocco. Haiti’s all-time top goal-scorer was part of Kerala Blasters in 2016 after spells at Lorient II and Olympique Saint-Quentin. During his ISL stint, he played 13 matches for Kerala Blasters and even scored a couple of goals. One of these goals was extremely important as it helped the club in qualifying for the playoffs with a win over FC Pune CIty. However, he left the side and went on to join the U-23 set-up of Wolverhampton Wanderers. He is currently playing in the Persian Gulf Pro League for Esteghlal and for the national team, he has scored 44 goals in 78 appearances.
Coming to the match, Morocco twice overcame the shock of conceding to Haiti to win a World Cup thriller 4-2 in Atlanta on Wednesday, but missed out on top spot in Group C to Brazil.
Haiti bowed out with their first World Cup goals for 52 years as a Yassine Bounou own goal and WilsonIsidor‘s stunning strike twice gave them the lead.
Achraf Hakimi and Ismael Saibari, with his third goal in as many games at the World Cup, levelled before half-time.
Soufiane Rahimi was nearly brought to tears when the 30-year-old’s deflected effort found the top corner to give Morocco the lead before Gessime Yassine rounded off the scoring.
But by finishing second to Brazil on goal difference, Morocco will head to Monterrey for a likely meeting against the Netherlands or Japan in the last 32 on Monday.
Despite bowing out without a point, Haiti’s performances at a first World Cup since 1974 have done a nation gripped by poverty proud.
Les Grenadiers were already eliminated after losing to Scotland and Brazil, but the thousands of Haitian expats in the stands at Atlanta were undeterred as every attack was met with deafening cheers.
“Today we scored two goals, we are really proud of it, the emotions were big, but it is still really frustrating because we didn’t get a point,” said Sunderland striker Isidor.
“With the generation we have I am confident we are going to be here again to win Haiti’s first point in a World Cup.”
Haiti’s long wait for a goal on the global stage was ended after just 10 minutes when Jean-Kevin Duverne got to the by-line and Lenny Joseph flicked his cross into the net via a deflection off Bounou.

Hakimi has continued to captain Morocco despite learning mid-tournament that he is to face a trial on rape charges in France.
But the reigning African footballer of the year said he was still in a good place “personally and professionally” after helping Paris Saint-Germain to a second consecutive Champions League title and his country into the knockout stages of the World Cup.
“I am in a very good moment, personally and professionally,” said Hakimi, who won man-of-the-match.
“I feel very good, I have good people around me that help me concentrate on the most important thing and the truth is it is one of the most important moments of my career. I hope to continue like this for as long as possible.”
Hakimi equalised when he was left with the simple task of forcing the ball over the line after Johny Placide could only parry Bilal El Khannouss‘ strike.
Within four minutes, though, Haiti had restored their lead in far more spectacular fashion.
Isidor pounced on a loose ball and let fly from outside the area with a shot that arrowed into the top corner.
Hakimi and coach Mohamed Ouahbi were visibly angered by conceding for a second time, but the 2022 World Cup semi-finalists responded before half-time.
Saibari stroked home his third goal of the tournament with a cool finish from Hakimi’s low cross.
With Brazil cruising to victory over Scotland in Miami, Morocco knew only a comprehensive victory would secure them top spot in Group C.
Ouahbi began turning his attention to the last 32 as Bayern Munich-bound Saibari and Real Madrid’s Diaz were replaced with over 20 minutes remaining.
But two of his substitutes came on to win the game for Morocco.

Rahimi’s powerful strike from a corner flew into the top corner via a deflection off a desperate Haiti defender.
He then turned provider by robbing possession on the Haiti by-line and crossing for Yassine to roll into an empty net.

In Part I of our three-part putting series, we explored how block-practice stations can help golfers develop the fundamental skills of putting. Through controlled environments and immediate feedback, players can build awareness of their setup, alignment, face control, stroke mechanics, and speed control with block practice. But while these stations are valuable for skill acquisition, they do not fully prepare golfers for the challenges they encounter on the golf course.
Golf is rarely played from the same spot twice. Every putt presents a unique challenge, with varying distances, slopes, green speeds, and visual perspectives. Performing successfully in these constantly changing conditions requires more than technical proficiency, it also requires adaptability.
This is where transfer training comes into play. This type of practice bridges the gap between skill development and on-course performance by introducing variability, decision-making, and problem-solving into practice. Rather than repeating the same putt over and over, golfers are challenged to apply their skills in constantly changing situations.
That’s why having practice that helps utilize this training is so important. It’s where your objective shifts from executing a movement perfectly to producing a successful outcome under a variety of conditions.
Below are a couple of drills I like my players to use for transfer training on the putting green.
Station 1: Random distance speed control
In this station (above, left), you can see a series of discs positioned at varying distances between the golfer and the target. Rather than focusing solely on making putts, the goal is to control speed and finish each ball within a designated zone. This task encourages adaptability and develops the ability to calibrate speed across multiple distances.
The objective of the drill is to have one ball come to rest between each pair of discs. Golfers may also choose to benchmark their performance by tracking how many balls are required to successfully complete the challenge.
Station 2: Green reading
One of the most challenging aspects of putting is learning how much a putt will curve as it travels toward the hole. Many golfers struggle not because they make poor strokes, but because they consistently misjudge the amount of break. Transfer training provides an opportunity to develop this skill by creating tasks that require players to read, predict, and respond to changing green conditions.
In this station (see featured photo above, right), a marker is placed on the intended starting line between the golfer and the hole. Rather than focusing on whether the ball is holed, the golfer’s objective is to roll the ball directly over the marker while allowing the slope of the green to move the ball toward the target. The marker serves as a visual representation of the golfer’s read.
Each putt requires the player to evaluate the slope, determine an appropriate starting line, and execute a putt that matches that prediction. If the ball misses the marker, either the read or the execution was incorrect. If the ball rolls over the marker but misses the hole, the golfer receives valuable information about the accuracy of the predicted break. The result provides immediate feedback on both the quality of the read and the quality of the stroke.
This drill demonstrates how a simple target can transform putting practice from repetitive execution into a decision-making exercise. Instead of repeatedly hitting putts toward the hole, golfers are challenged to make a prediction, test that prediction, and adjust based on the outcome. This process closely mirrors what occurs during actual play, where every putt requires a new read and a new decision.
Block practice involves repeating the same skill or movement in a consistent, controlled environment to build familiarity and technique. While block practice helps golfers develop skills, transfer training teaches them how to apply those skills in changing environments. By introducing variability, decision-making, and problem-solving into practice, golfers learn to adapt to the demands of the course rather than simply repeat a movement.
As players become more proficient at transferring their skills to new situations, they are ready for the final stage of development: performance training. In this stage, skills are tested under pressure, consequence, and competition, creating practice environments that closely resemble real playing conditions.
This year’s New York Mets are the new worst team money can buy.
The Mets’ $329 million payroll, the largest in the league, has been all for naught, as they are currently tied for the fourth-worst record in the major leagues.
And when one looks back at the 2026 Mets however many years from now, Wednesday’s debacle will be known as the microcosm of this team.

The Mets hosted the Chicago Cubs for a day-night doubleheader and lost the first half of it, 10-3, much to the delight of Norwegian fans in the ballpark. Three hours later, though, it got much worse.
The Mets made six errors, their most in a game since 2014, and each of their four starting infielders committed one. That has not happened in franchise history since 1962, the team’s first year in existence that is widely regarded as one of the worst teams in baseball history.
Even Francisco Lindor, known for his defensive prowess, made an error on the first ground ball hit to him after returning from an injury.

Out of frustration, the Mets fans in attendance decided to chant Pete Alonso’s name – the Mets moved on from the fan favorite, along with others, after last year’s midseason collapse to miss out on the postseason.
Alonso, Jeff McNeil, Brandon Nimmo, and Edwin Díaz all left as the Mets opted for a “run prevention” system – but six errors in a game won’t exactly do that.
Entering this series, Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson was hitting .183 with a .617 OPS, but in three games against the Mets, he is 7-for-12 and has driven in 15 of his 46 runs this season against them.

It is a far cry from the “OMG Mets” team that rallied from a poor start just two years ago to a National League Championship Series appearance. In their current five-game losing streak, they are being outscored 50-19.

New York is now 34-46 on the season, on pace to win fewer than 70 games. The Mets have not won 69 or fewer games in a 162-game season since 2003 when they went 66-95.

North Queensland Cowboys vs Penrith Panthers Preview
Penrith will start strong favourites when it travels to Townsville to face North Queensland on Saturday evening.
The Cowboys struggled to contain New Zealand’s attacking pressure last week, particularly through the middle of the field. While North Queensland’s powerful forwards remain dangerous with momentum, repeated defensive efforts have exposed vulnerabilities at times this season.
That presents an opportunity for the Panthers, who remain one of the competition’s most methodical teams. Nathan Cleary’s game management and Penrith’s ability to patiently build pressure continue to separate them from most opponents.
The Panthers have won seven of their past eight meetings against the Cowboys and will be confident of strengthening their position near the top of the ladder, while North Queensland needs a significant response after last week’s disappointing performance.
The United States men’s national team opened its 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with a commanding 4-1 rout of Paraguay behind two goals from Folarin Balogun, and after taking care of Australia, the team has one match left in the group stage against Turkey on Thursday night.
The Americans took care of Australia last week 2-0 to keep their strong start rolling. The victory clinched a knockout-round berth for Team USA. The USMNT will look to carry its momentum into their match against Turkey as the Stars and Stripes return to Los Angeles Stadium.

Australia began its World Cup run with a win over Turkey before suffering a setback against the U.S. The Australians will meet Paraguay on Thursday in a match featuring two teams already beaten by the Americans during the group stage.
Late last month, the Americans defeated Senegal, 3-2, in a World Cup tuneup match.
Under head coach Mauricio Pochettino, the USMNT entered the tournament as the No. 17 team in the FIFA World Rankings. FIFA determines its world rankings using the Elo rating system, which rewards teams for wins and penalizes them for losses while also factoring in the strength of the competition.

Floyd Mayweather’s planned exhibition against Greek kickboxing icon Mike Zambidis this weekend has now been cancelled following a dramatic legal battle that has engulfed the Hall of Famer’s 2026 comeback schedule.
The exhibition, scheduled for Saturday, June 27 in Athens, Greece, became the subject of a recent lawsuit after CSI claimed Mayweather is contractually obligated to fulfil previously signed agreements to face Mike Tyson in an exhibition before a professional rematch with Manny Pacquiao. The company argued that staging the Zambidis exhibition with another promoter would breach those agreements.
There has not yet been an indication that the exhibition will be rescheduled, and it appears unlikely that Mayweather’s exhibition schedule will move forward until his dispute with CSI is resolved.
That legal battle could also have wider implications, with veteran boxing reporter Dan Rafael reporting that the long-discussed Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch has been pushed back from its planned 2026 date and, if it happens at all, is now expected no earlier than January 2027.
For now, the cancellation leaves Mayweather’s immediate future firmly up in the air. The undefeated former five-weight world champion has remained one of boxing’s biggest attractions since retiring from professional competition, building a lucrative exhibition career around his global drawing power.
Whether that schedule can resume – or whether long-discussed bouts with Tyson and Pacquiao eventually materialise – will likely depend on the outcome of the ongoing legal dispute, which now appears set to shape the next chapter of Mayweather’s career as much as anything that happens inside the ring.

Now that the dust has settled on the NBA Finals and the NBA Draft, all attention will be on free agency.
But the release of NBA 2K27 will take place in the first week of September. NBA fans and gamers will have a chance to use the entirely new rookie class and proper free agent fits on this new game.
Popular prediction market site Kalshi allows users to make trades of real-world events. As of June 25, they’re giving San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama an 84% chance of being named the cover of this year’s version of NBA 2K.
An 84¢ contract on Wembanyama to be named the cover of NBA 2K27 wouldn’t payout much, as it’s the favored outcome. New York Knicks NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson has a 20% chance of being the cover of the league’s popular video game, which would be a much more attractive contract for users seeking value.

Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards is the longshot, getting only a 9% chance of being named the cover athlete. Those chances increased following the breaking news of LaMelo Ball being traded to Minnesota. Certainly, the Timberwolves will be a popular team in the game next season.
How does NBA 2K decide the cover athlete?
Each year, NBA 2K takes their time determining the cover athlete.
For the game’s main cover, they typically select an up-and-coming superstar. A player whose stock could be on the rise would be the usual target. They also like to take advantage of significant benchmark moments in the NBA (like winning a championship, MVP, etc.).
Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the cover of NBA 2K26. He had won his first MVP and NBA Championship. Carmelo Anthony was the superstar edition cover and Angel Reese was the WNBA edition cover.
Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum was the cover of NBA 2K25. For 2K24, the game tributed the cover to Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.
Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker was the cover of NBA 2K23 and Luka Doncic was the cover of NBA 2K22. Damian Lillard, Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kyrie Irving and Paul George have also been on NBA 2K covers in the last decade.
It’s likely that Wembanyama or Brunson will be this year’s cover athlete. The value would be on Brunson after winning a championship and breaking New York’s five-decade title drought. But for now, Wembanyama remains the favorite as the future face of the league.
After a disastrous start at the World Cup, Bafana Bafana have qualified for the knockout stage for the first time. The team beat South Korea 1-0 in their last group stage game to reach the Round of 32. Meanwhile superstar Neymar came in as a substitute for Brazil to the delight of fans. The team took the top spot in Group C by beating Scotland 3-0.
