Women’s World Cup qualifying: Wales boss Rhian Wilkinson to continue rotating keepers
Rhian Wilkinson intends to continue rotating her goalkeepers during Wales’ Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign.
Wales kick off their bid to reach the 2027 World Cup in Brazil when they face the Czech Republic at the City Stadium in Uherske Hradiste on Tuesday.
Wilkinson has regularly switched between her two frontline keepers, Olivia Clark and Safia Middleton-Patel, during her time as Wales head coach and says that approach will continue.
“Both of them have performed for Wales but I don’t feel either of them really grabbed the jersey yet and so I try not to make it [so] that it’s a combative environment,” Wilkinson said.
“They know before they come in which games they’re going to be playing, so I try to tell them that you have just got to perform in your game.
“If they can do that consistently, they’ll grab the number one, but I do not feel one of them has taken that number one role yet.”

Arsenal vs Chelsea: Title-chasing Gunners face crucial Premier League test | Football News
Arsenal will be looking to respond strongly this afternoon as they host Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium, following Manchester City’s narrow win over Leeds that cut the Gunners’ lead at the top to just two points. With a 22-year wait for a league title still ongoing, every point is crucial as Mikel Arteta’s side chases glory in the Premier League.
Chelsea arrive under pressure in the race for next season’s Champions League football, especially after Liverpool’s dominant victory over West Ham on Saturday. While Liam Rosenior has steadied the Blues, their recent form has been patchy. Draws against Leeds and relegation-threatened Burnley at Stamford Bridge have left Chelsea struggling to make the most of a favorable run of fixtures, and their Carabao Cup semi-final exit to Arsenal highlights their inconsistency.
At the Emirates, Arsenal look the stronger side. They have shown they can handle pressure, notably in last week’s north London derby against Spurs. Chelsea are likely to struggle against the attacking firepower and momentum of the Gunners, making an Arsenal win the most probable outcome in what promises to be a high-intensity clash.
Arsenal Team news
Arsenal face fitness concerns ahead of their clash with Chelsea, with key player Bukayo Saka having limped off during last week’s north London derby against Spurs. His availability remains uncertain, adding to the injury worries for Mikel Arteta.
Apart from Saka, midfielder Mikel Merino is the only confirmed absentee for the Gunners. However, there are lingering doubts over a few other important players, including Kai Havertz, Max Dowman, and defender Ben White.
Chelsea Team news
Wesley Fofana will miss the match due to suspension after his red card in a disappointing display against Burnley last week. Marc Cucurella is also struggling with a hamstring injury, leaving his participation uncertain. Additionally, English defenders Levi Colwill and Jamie Gittens are both unavailable for Chelsea.
Arsenal vs Chelsea Probable starting 11
Chelsea starting 11: James, Adarabioyo, Chalobah, Gusto – Caicedo, Santos – Palmer, Fernandez, Neto – Pedro
Arsenal starting 11: Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapie – Rice, Zubimendi, Odegaard – Saka, Gyokeres, Trossard
Player battles to look out for
Declan Rice vs. Moisés Caicedo
Two of the Premier League’s finest midfielders will go head-to-head at the Emirates. Declan Rice has emerged as a commanding presence and leader for Arsenal, but he will face a stern test against the dynamic Moisés Caicedo. Both players excel in both defensive and attacking phases, making them game-changers. Caicedo had the upper hand in their first meeting until an early red card in November, while Rice and Arsenal dominated the rematch in February. Containing each other will be no easy task, but whichever midfielder performs better could have the final say in this crucial clash.
Bukayo Saka vs. Jorrel Hato
Bukayo Saka may be a minor injury doubt for Arsenal, with Noni Madueke ready to step in if needed. Assuming Saka starts, he will face a different Chelsea left-back due to Marc Cucurella’s injury. Jorrel Hato could be handed the right-back role, presenting the biggest test of his young Chelsea career. Hato must contain Saka’s creativity, or Arsenal could dominate down this side.
William Saliba vs. João Pedro
Arsenal’s defensive linchpin, William Saliba, will face Chelsea’s hot striker João Pedro, who has scored seven goals and assisted four in 10 games. Saliba has kept Pedro quiet in both Carabao Cup semifinals, but the forward’s strength, movement, and skill make him a constant threat. Another clean performance will be crucial for Arsenal’s title ambitions.
Gabriel vs. Robert Sánchez
Arsenal’s set-piece weapon Gabriel could prove decisive against Chelsea. His aerial dominance and timing make him a key threat from corners. Chelsea’s goalkeeper Robert Sánchez, along with defenders like Trevoh Chalobah or Mamadou Sarr, will need to organize and clear effectively to prevent Arsenal from capitalizing. Set-pieces could ultimately tip the balance in this encounter.

Chris Eubank Jr in talks for ‘fire fight’ but wants opponent to make a catchweight
Chris Eubank Jr’s return to the ring seems to be edging ever closer.
Eubank’s rivalry with Conor Benn dominated 2025. He won the first fight but lost the second convincingly, leading many fans to questions whether or not retirement was on the cards. Following treatment in hospital for an undisclosed health condition, the 36-year-old is now plotting a comeback.
According to Chris Mannix, that could come against Edgar Berlanga. Speaking on the DAZN broadcast for Emanuel Navarrete and Eduardo Nunez’ unification bout this past weekend in Arizona, he revealed ongoing discussions.
“Edgar Berlanga has been sorting through what he’s going to do in his next fight, but I’ve been told there are plans in the works to bring Edgar back in the first half of this year. An interesting fight has been discussed with Team Berlanga, and that is a potential showdown with Chris Eubank Jr.
“[Eubank] is moving back up in weight, and they have discussed a fight … What is holding up those talks is the weight. Eubank Jr, I’m told, wants the fight at 164 pounds. Berlanga says I can’t go any lower than 168. Can they work it out? I don’t know, but that’s a big fight.”
Supporting the report, Berlanga – who has lost to Canelo on points and, more recently, Hamzah Sheeraz by stoppage – took to X to talk the fight up.
Me vs @ChrisEubankJr will be a fire fight in LONDON! 🇵🇷 vs 🇬🇧 👀👀👀👀
— Edgar Berlanga Jr (@EdgarBerlangaJr) March 1, 2026
Fans may be surprised at Eubank’s desire for a catchweight over a straight move to super-middleweight, particularly given his documented struggles making 160 for the two Conor Benn fights. However, the rehydration of only 10lbs may have been the real test in those stadium bouts, and there would be no such clause this time around.
The Brit’s team may also be thinking about the catchweight as more of a disadvantage to Berlanga – who has fought at 168 since 2020 – rather than an advantage for their man.
Whatever the reason, it seems Berlanga will not budge on the 4lbs.

Gautam Gambhir demands ‘special effort’ as India gear up for semi-final against England | Cricket News
NEW DELHI: India head coach Gautam Gambhir has warned that nothing short of a “special effort” will be enough when the defending champions face England in a blockbuster T20 World Cup semi-final in Mumbai, even as he lavished praise on Sanju Samson for keeping their title defence alive.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW!Samson produced a sublime unbeaten 97 off just 50 balls to power India to a five-wicket win over the West Indies at a packed Eden Gardens, chasing down 196 in a winner-takes-all Super Eights clash. His knock, studded with 12 fours and four sixes, lifted India to 199/5 and into the last four.
“We all know how good a player Sanju is,” Gambhir said after the match. “It was all about backing him and when the team needed him the most. Obviously today was the day when he probably showed his full potential.”Samson had played just one group-stage match, scoring 22 against Namibia, as India preferred a left-hand opening pair. Recalled for the Super Eights to add a right-handed option at the top, he made 24 against Zimbabwe — enough for Gambhir to persist with him.“I have always said that he is a world-class player. He is a great talent and hopefully he can kick on from now and we can see a lot more innings like this,” Gambhir added.

Who will win the T20 World Cup semi-final: India or England?
But the focus now shifts to Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, where a formidable England side awaits on Thursday. Harry Brook’s men arrive unbeaten in the Super Eights and peaking at the right time.“Look, they’re a world-class team, they’re a quality team, they’ve got a lot of quality players as well,” Gambhir said in a post-match news conference. He acknowledged the new challenge posed by Wankhede’s conditions after Kolkata. “We all know that playing at the Wankhede is a tough game, but it’s another opportunity to do something special for the team and for the country.”India, he stressed, must be flawless.“Hopefully we play our best game, that is going to be very important and we can keep ticking all the boxes. Because we will need a special effort to beat a quality side like England,” Gambhir further added.

Neemias Queta’s big effort lifts Celtics over 76ers
Mar 1, 2026; Boston, Massachusetts, USA; Boston Celtics center Neemias Queta (88) reacts during the first half against the Philadelphia 76ers at TD Garden. Mandatory Credit: Paul Rutherford-Imagn Images Neemias Queta had a career-high 27 points along with 17 rebounds, and Jaylen Brown finished with 27 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, to lead the Boston Celtics to a 114-98 victory over the visiting Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday night.
Derrick White added 21 points, six rebounds and eight assists for Boston, which received 11 points and 12 rebounds from Nikola Vucevic.
The Celtics made 18 of 21 free-throw attempts and had a 59-37 edge in rebounding.
Philadelphia trailed 103-97 with 4:14 to play, but Queta made a layup and two free throws to extend Boston’s lead to 109-98 with 2:36 left. The 76ers never threatened after that.
Tyrese Maxey led Philadelphia with 33 points. Maxey made 4 of 11 3-point attempts. VJ Edgecombe finished with 23 for the 76ers, who forced 15 Celtics turnovers.
Philadelphia received 10 points and 12 rebounds from Andre Drummond, and 14 points and eight rebounds from Dominick Barlow.
The 76ers played without star center Joel Embiid because of a strained right oblique. Embiid was injured during the 124-117 victory over Miami on Thursday night. The team said Embiid will be re-evaluated after Wednesday’s game against Utah.
Embiid is averaging 26.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists this season but has played in only 33 games. Philadelphia led 28-26 after one quarter, but the Celtics outscored the 76ers 36-22 in the second quarter to take a 62-50 halftime lead. Boston’s Baylor Scheierman hit a 3-pointer that just beat the buzzer to cap the first-half scoring.
Queta had 16 points and 12 rebounds in the first half.
Boston pushed its lead to 16 points early in the third quarter, but Philadelphia was within 89-83 entering the fourth. The 76ers cut their deficit to five points early in the final quarter.
Sunday’s game was the fourth meeting between the Celtics and 76ers this season. Each team has won twice. –Field Level Media

Top 25 And 1: Michigan, Michigan State heading toward a great finale

The final game on CBS before we get to the last week of conference tournaments will be played Sunday at the Crisler Center, where Michigan will host Michigan State. It’ll be a showdown between in-state rivals that are both in the top eight of Monday morning’s updated CBS Sports Top 25 And 1 daily college basketball rankings, where Duke remains No. 1 for the ninth straight day.
Michigan is No. 2. Michigan State is No. 8.
Sunday’s tip is set for 4:30 p.m. ET.
Will it determine the Big Ten title? No. Impressively, the Wolverines have already locked that up thanks to a 17-1 record in the league with just two regular-season games remaining. Michigan State and Nebraska are tied for second in the conference standings, three games behind Michigan with 14-4 records in the league, and it doesn’t take a mathematician to grasp that you cannot make up a three-game deficit in any regular-season standings with only two regular-season games remaining.
So, no, it won’t be for a conference championship.
But it’ll still be great!
And, as long as nobody gets injured between now and then, it should feature two of the top candidates for Big Ten Player of the Year — namely Michigan’s Yaxel Lendeborg and Michigan State’s Jeremy Fears Jr., the latter of whom got 21 points, nine assists, four rebounds and a steal in Sunday’s 77-64 win at Indiana that extended the Hoosiers’ losing streak to four games and sent them even further away from the bubble of the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
Michigan State moving from No. 10 to No. 8 in Monday’s Top 25 And 1 because of Sunday’s win at Indiana caused Iowa State and Illinois to be pushed down one spot each, no fault of their own. Similarly, Purdue dropping from No. 14 to No. 16 in Monday’s Top 25 And 1 because of Sunday’s loss at Ohio State caused Virginia and Gonzaga to be advanced one spot each, no credit of their own, especially considering both are coming off of weekend losses — Virginia’s happening at Duke, Gonzaga’s happening at Saint Mary’s.

Israel judo team withdraws from Uzbekistan competition over safety
NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
The Israeli national judo team withdrew from a major competition in Uzbekistan by order of Israel’s Shin Bet security agency due to safety concerns after the country declared war against Iran.
The Israel Judo Association (IJA), widely considered the country’s most successful Olympic sports program, was forced to depart the Tashkent Grand Slam and leave Uzbekistan, as tensions mount amid Israel’s attack on Iran, and Iran’s subsequent counterstrike, according to The Jerusalem Post.
The recent strikes between Israel and Iran have resulted in disruptions to both countries’ sports teams.
Israel’s national gymnastics team has suspended all training and team activities amid the recent Iranian counterattack on the country following the U.S.-assisted strikes on Iran.

The Israel Gymnastics Federation (IGF) provided a statement to Fox News Digital announcing the violence has caused “unavoidable disruptions.”
“The current security situation in our region has resulted in unavoidable disruptions to our regular training schedule and has created significant uncertainty regarding the national teams’ professional plans, particularly as we are at the outset of the international season,” the statement read.
“At this time, all training activities have been temporarily suspended, pending approval from the relevant authorities to safely resume operations,” it continued. “Naturally, the suspension of training and the closure of airspace are causing considerable stress and concern. However, the safety and well-being of our gymnasts and professional staff remain our highest priority. We sincerely hope for safer and calmer days ahead, when we can focus solely on sport.”
A source within the team told Fox News Digital on Saturday that the gymnasts have been moving between bomb shelters since Iran’s counterstrikes began.
Meanwhile, Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran President Mehdi Taj, suggested his team will not compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“What is certain is that after this attack, we cannot be expected to look forward to the World Cup with hope,” Taj told sports portal Varzesh3 on Sunday. “The US regime has attacked our homeland, and this is an incident that will not go unanswered.”
“We’ll deal with soccer games tomorrow—tonight, we celebrate their opportunity for freedom,” Andrew Guiliani, the director of the White House World Cup task force, wrote on X on Saturday.
FIFA also noted it will be monitoring the situation with Iran.
The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem has directed all U.S. government employees and their family members to continue to shelter in place, either in or near their residences as Iran continues to fire missiles at Israel.
Iranian airstrikes killed at least eight Israelis on Sunday as Tehran’s latest missile barrage landed just miles from Jerusalem.
