Alexander Zverev fought back from a set down to beat Cameron Norrie 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in a late-night battle at the Cincinnati Open.
The match started on Saturday night and finished in the early hours of Sunday morning. Zverev needed two hours and 35 minutes to get the job done.
Norrie took the opening set, but Zverev responded in the second and third, winning four straight sets across the final two sets to complete the comeback.
The victory is Zverev’s first win of the 2026 North American hard-court swing and also keeps his perfect record against Norrie intact. He is now 8-0 against the Brit in their ATP Head2Head meetings.
Zverev, currently No. 3 in the ATP Live Rankings, is also chasing another Cincinnati title. He won the tournament in 2021 and is looking for his first Masters 1000 title since winning the Paris Masters in 2024.
The 2026 Roland Garros champion will now face Terence Atmane in the third round. Atmane booked his place by beating Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-3, 7-6(4).
