Home made wall mounted 19-inch server / data / equipment rack cabinet. Perfect for a home network!
Rather than buying a pre-made wall mount server data cabinet I decided to build one myself, custom designing it to fit a standard 19-inch network switch, power strip, patch panel, NAS (Network Attached Storage) drive, wireless WiFi access point, fibre broadband modem and the Hive central heating panel.
The unit itself is easy to make out of timber, I show you how I made it from a simple kitchen wall cabinet but alter it to fit the rack perfectly. It looks good on the wall (it looks much nicer than a metal data rack cabinet) and can be altered in the future if I feel the need to expand the unit.
The costs for a pre-built metal unit of this size is around £135.00, this one I have built cost just £39.00 – that’s a huge saving!

The SHELF-1U-20-FIXED-S lets you add a 1U 20 inches (50.8 cm) deep shelf to any EIA-310 compliant 19-inch rack or cabinet.

Bolein 32U 600mm*600mm free-standing DDF network rack enclosure server cabinet can be used in data centers, monitoring rooms, CCTV, and other places.
The front toughened glass door with a spring lock, side panels are removable, steel rear door with a round lock.
Assembled frame structure.
Cable entry and ventilation hole on top cover and bottom panel.
The main material is SPCC cold-rolled steel.
Mounting profile thickness is 2.0mm, mounting angle thickness is 1.5mm, others thickness is 1.2mm.
The degree of protection is IP20 and it can be customized.
Standard static loading capacity is 800 KG, and it can be increased to 1000 KG by adding auxiliary
mounting angle if need.
Adjustable feet and heavy-duty casters.
Cable manager, cooling fan, fixed shelf, sliding tray, patch panel, and other rack accessories are available.

@5:55 talking about back-heavy, screwing in top screw first, of course. Tip: screwing in bottom ones first will force the rack-ears to the rails and hold them instead of trying to sheer off, friction is your friend! So is the principle of lever.
Rack looks really nice with the colour accents, thanks for sharing.

The only thing missing is actually heat exhaust. You have just one or two switch so not the biggest heat output but I wouldn't do that with servers and big switch, need room for air in front and back

How did you fix the Hive Hub and and BT Hub to the red accent panel? My hubs do not have any slot mounts for screws.

By the way, mill is not the same as a millimeter. 1 mill is 1/1000th of an inch.

It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2×2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.

that's a GIGANTIC case… for ONE switch… must admit I actually expected "something" in the rack…yes yes there are the stuff on the shelf below but that obviously didn't need a rack.
