Frugal Friday’s Workwear Report: Pleated Cotton Skirt
This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
The styling on this H&M skirt looks a little more beach-y than office-y, but I think a 100% cotton skirt would be a great business casual option for summer Fridays. Swap out the bikini top pictured for a twinset or a button-up blouse and you’ll be ready for work.
Opacity is always a concern with white clothing, so this might be an opportunity to grab a slip from the back of your closet if you’ve got one.
The skirt is $44.99 at H&M and comes in sizes XXS-XXL.

Coffee Break: Nodde Bag – Corporette.com

I know everyone loves tan bags for spring and summer, but this gray leather Nodde bag from Polène looks great.
I love the way the bag is literally composed of two matching and interlocking leather sections — it reminds me of a much (much) more upscale version of those puzzle rings.
The bag is $580 at Polène; it’s also available in 8 other colors. If the exact size of the bag doesn’t work for and you can find the interlocking detail on a few other shapes of bags (the Nodde line), including a larger hobo, a smaller crossbody/handbag, and some smaller accessories like a pouch and card holder.

What Does Dopamine Dressing Look Like for a Conservative Dress Code?
This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
I was reminded of the phrase “dopamine dressing” the other day, and started thinking about it — what does dopamine dressing look like for a conservative dress code? (What is dopamine dressing for a business casual dresscode?) When it comes to hallmarks of dopamine dressing like saturated colors, loud patterns, and sometimes even clashing patterns — when does it veer into the realm of “not appropriate for work”? How comfortable are you personally with dopamine dressing in general, but especially for work?
My $.02 on Dopamine Dressing for Work
I am definitely a fan of a lot of bright, saturated colors, as well as contrasting colors, but just for vanity reasons (i.e., my pale face) I try to make them components rather than the entire outfit. A bright blazer? Love. A neon purse? Fabulous. Hot pink earrings that almost glow in the light? Sign me up. For example, in the outfits above (the hot pink suit from Reiss and the colorful dress from Boden), I would be more comfortable to wear the hot pink suit and bright orange tank with black or white trousers… and for the dress I’d prefer it in a scarf or blouse rather than entire dress.
Do I get a dopamine hit from them? I guess I do… And (to quote the song) if it makes you happy, can it be that bad?
Can You Dopamine Dress for Work?
I think you can, but this comes down to knowing your office. Your first day outfit is probably not going to be the hot pink suit, unless you want to make that your entire personality. And that’s fine! I think you’re telling people they’re dealing with an upbeat, creative, confident person who dances to the beat of their own drummer and doesn’t care for convention. Of course, those last two things may not be the best things to emphasize right off the bat if you’re, say, a summer associate or intern.
I would start to work dopamine dressing in in small ways — the scarf, the blouse — expanding to a blazer or cardigan or other topper that matches one of the colors in the scarf or blouse.
Of course, we’ve seen some fabulous examples of dopamine dressing from some of the readers’ favorite personal style bloggers — Atlantic-Pacific immediately comes to mind in the general style category, while for workwear dressing you can look to smaller (lawyer) bloggers like The Directrice and Blue Lipstick Red Collar.
Readers, what are your thoughts — do you personally enjoy dopamine dressing for work? If you work in a conservative office, where do you draw the line for yourself at work? If you work in a business casual office, do you feel like you have more freedom to express your personality through clothes?

Yung Miami in Brown Dolce & Gabbana Floral Mini Skirt and Matching Boots with Gold Corset Top in New York
Yung Miami stepped out in New York for a press run wearing a vintage Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2004 floral mini skirt paired with coordinating knee-high boots in the same print. She styled the archival set with a structured gold corset top, creating a balanced mix of vintage pattern and sculpted metallic texture.

The look was layered with a long brown leather coat, adding contrast and depth to the warm-toned palette. Accessories included oversized sunglasses, a gold choker necklace, and coordinating jewelry, keeping the focus on the statement skirt-and-boot pairing.

The early 2000s Dolce & Gabbana set featured a detailed floral motif in shades of brown, orange, and cream, aligning with the continued resurgence of vintage runway pieces in contemporary styling. The fitted silhouette of the corset top complemented the mini length, while the pointed-toe boots extended the pattern for a cohesive finish.

You Ask, We Answer! Bernice Burgos in Orange and Pink Dipetsa Wetlook Dress for Birthday Celebration
You ask, we answer! @tashell_amoy says, “Hey Dolls can you tell me where Bernice dress is from please”
Bernice Burgos celebrated her birthday wearing a $7,300 Dipetsa wetlook dress designed in a pink and orange sunset gradient. The look featured the brand’s signature draped construction with a halter-style neckline, a plunging cutout bodice, and a sheer, floor-length skirt that created a fluid, layered effect.

The fabric appeared to mimic a water-soaked finish, a defining element of Dipetsa’s wetlook technique, giving the dress a glossy, sculpted appearance. The gradient blended soft lavender, coral, and peach tones, adding dimension to the silhouette.

She paired the dress with Rene Caovilla heels and a Chanel mini bag, keeping her accessories coordinated within the warm color palette.

Styled by Naya Ashley, the look balanced the bold cutouts with flowing fabric for contrast.

What do you think?
