The latest Nielsen ratings are in, and HBO Max is ruling over the competition again. The streamer has two titles in the top 10, while Prime Video and Netflix have one each. Ditto for Disney+ and Paramount+, although Hulu is enjoying the evergreen success of two massive animated series. The latest Nielsen streaming ratings cover the week of April 13 to April 19. Meanwhile, on the linear television side of things, only two narrative series found spots in the top 10. Both shows hailed from CBS — Tracker and Marshals — and each drew more than 7 million viewers for the week of May 4 to May 10.
Netflix’s sole title in the streaming list was the movie Thrash, starring Phoebe Dynevor. The creature feature paved the way for the survival thriller Apex, which will likely deliver bigger results in the upcoming Nielsen ratings. On the other hand, the sole Prime Video title in the top 10 was The Boys. The superhero series will conclude its fifth and final season on May 20. The final season premiered on April 8, which makes the number two performance rather surprising. Hulu found success in the latest Nielsen ratings thanks to Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy, while Paramount+ secured its only spot on the list thanks to SpongeBob SquarePants. Other legacy titles on the list were Grey’s Anatomy and Survivor, both of which are available on Hulu and other streamers.
Here’s the Number 1 Title on Nielsen’s Latest Streaming Leaderboard
HBO Max’s second-best title was The Big Bang Theory, which will get a new spin-off shortly. However, the number one title for the week was The Pitt, whose 15-episode second season ended on April 16. For the second time in a row, it was the only title to accumulate more than 1 billion minutes viewed in a single week — this week, it posted 1.3 billion minutes viewed. By comparison, The Boys tapped out at 918 million minutes viewed. The Pitt continues to be a runaway hit for HBO Max, with the second season scoring a near-perfect 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. The aggregator website’s consensus reads, “Clocking in for a second season of a near-perfect medical procedural, The Pitt goes all in on narrative excellence, brilliant humanity, and heart-wrenching drama to winning effect.” Starring Noah Wyle at the forefront of an eclectic ensemble, the series has been renewed for a third season.
The Pitt‘s first two seasons are streaming now on HBO Max. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
