Gaga was one of Bad Bunny’s surprise guests during the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, February 8, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, as the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots faced off in the NFL championship. (The Seahawks walked away Super Bowl champs for the second time in the franchise’s history.)

The Grammy winner joined the rapper on stage to perform a solo version of her and Bruno Mars’ duet “Die With a Smile.” The arrangement was changed to give the song an appropriate salsa flair. The singer also paid homage to Bad Bunny’s Puerto Rican heritage by donning a blue pleated dress with a brooch featuring Puerto Rico’s national flower, the flor de maga.

While on stage, Gaga and Bad Bunny (real name Benito Martínez Ocasio) shared a sweet dance. In addition to Gaga, Ricky Martin sang during the halftime show. Authorities are widening their search for Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy Guthrie, after revealing law enforcement is investigating new leads.

“Many of you observed an active presence at the Guthrie residences over the weekend. That activity will continue tonight and into tomorrow as part of the ongoing investigative process, including the expansion of the search and follow-up on new leads,” the Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced via social media on Monday, February 9. . “This is all part of the investigative process, as the search for Nancy expands and new leads come in.”

Details of the “new leads” were not publicly released “to preserve the integrity of this criminal investigation.”

The authorities also stated that the FBI will handle “all aspects related to any ransom note(s) or communications involving the Guthrie family.”

Savannah Guthrie has shared a new video statement pleading for missing mom Nancy Guthrie’s safe return less than four hours before the latest ransom deadline. “I just wanted to come on and share some thoughts as we enter into another week of this nightmare,” Savannah, 54, said in a video shared via Instagram on Monday, […]

If anyone has additional information about Nancy’s whereabouts they are encouraged to contact law enforcement through the tip lines 1-800-CALL-FBI, the PCSD non-emergency line at 520-351-4900 or 88-CRIME.

NewsNation reporter Brian Entin shared an additional statement issued by the FBI in relation to the ongoing criminal investigation on Monday via X.

“The FBI is not aware of any continued communication between the Guthrie family and suspected kidnappers, nor have we identified a suspect or person of interest in this case at this time,” the statement read.

Earlier this month, Nancy was reported missing in Tucson, Arizona, by her family after she was last seen the previous evening. A friend of Nancy’s noticed that she did not attend that Sunday’s church service and alerted one of Nancy’s children, who checked on her home before contacting the police. (In addition to Savannah, Nancy shares daughter Annie and son Camron with late husband Charles Guthrie.)

Law enforcement officials believe that Nancy was taken from her home, as the elderly woman has mobility issues that would have made it difficult for her to leave on her own. Nancy also takes daily medications and missing a dose could be fatal.

Tucson ABC affiliate KGUN9 reported that multiple alleged ransom letters were sent to various media outlets amid Nancy’s disappearance. One note demanded $6 million in bitcoin in exchange for her safe return, while a man named Derrick Callella was arrested for sending a fake ransom note to the Guthrie family.

The Animated Series’ Changed Marvel History With These 2 Iconic Relationships [Exclusive]

Published

on

X-Men 97 Disney Plus TV Series Poster

X-Men ‘97 shattered sky-high expectations two years ago when it debuted to immaculate reviews on its way to becoming the highest-rated Marvel project in history, despite not being set in the MCU. With scores of 99% from critics and 91% from audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, it’s safe to say that X-Men ‘97 was a hit. This justified Marvel’s decision to greenlight the show for a Season 2 before the Season 1 premiere, and there’s such high demand for more mutants that the studio is already working on Season 3 before the premiere of Season 2.

One aspect of X-Men ‘97 that fans appreciated in particular was the romance. The relationships made the show feel more mature than some other Marvel properties that ran from romance rather than embracing it. While Rogue and Magneto’s relationship stole the spotlight, most fans agree that Rogue’s relationship with Gambit was the show’s beating heart, at least until Gambit’s tragic passing.

Collider’s Maggie Lovitt recently moderated a panel at Big Lick Comic-Con in Roanoke, VA, for Rogue actor Lenore Zann, who brought out Larry Houston, who produces X-Men ‘97. A fan in attendance asked Zann about Rogue’s relationship with Gambit, and Houston also chimed in with an interesting fact that many X-Men fans may not be aware of:

“We invented that relationship to try and create some character drama and interesting subject matter to make the show interesting, and it eventually became so interesting that it migrated back to the comic books as a relationship that the fans enjoyed. But, it was something we created for entertainment for you guys in the cartoon show, the same with the love triangle between Scott, Jean, and Wolverine. That was not in the [comic] books either.”

Houston also recalled a conversation with a former X-Men live-action movie director who told him he had “never read one X-Men comic,” but that he “saw the TV show and that’s how the relationship migrated into the movies and then migrated back to the comic books. It’s all created for entertainment for the fans, and it became canon by accident.” Rogue and Gambit’s relationship is far from the only thing that a movie or show writer had an idea for that was later adapted to a comic book.

What Do We Know About the Next Two Seasons of ‘X-Men ’97′?

Plot details about X-Men ‘97 Season 2 are being kept under wraps, but after the Season 1 ending saw the team left scattered in chaos across time and space, the stakes are sure to be on the rise. The show is expected to premiere sometime this summer, likely in June or July, barring any further delays. The wait between Seasons 2 and 3 is also expected to be smaller than the wait between Seasons 1 and 2. This show can operate more smoothly under the continued leadership of new writer and showrunner Matthew Chauncy after parting ways with Beau DeMayo.

Stay tuned to Collider for more updates from Big Lick Comic Con and coverage of X-Men ‘97 Seasons 2 and 3, and catch up on the first season on Disney+.

A Slow-Burn Crime Thriller in the Vein of ‘Zodiac’ Finally Finds Its Audience

Director David Fincher‘s fans got a first look at his new movie, The Adventures of Cliff Booth, with a typically exciting teaser this weekend. The movie serves as a spin-off to Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which grossed nearly $400 million worldwide in 2019, and will reunite Fincher with his frequent creative collaborator Brad Pitt. Although there’s no denying that The Adventures of Cliff Booth feels like a stepping stone for Fincher, nobody knows what he’s walking toward at this stage of his career. While his fans continue to wonder why he has hitched his wagon to Netflix — the director hasn’t had a theatrical release in over a decade — they can remind themselves of the good old days by revisiting some of his past masterpieces. Or they could check out a movie that may exist in the same universe as the film Zodiac and the show Mindhunter.

The movie in question had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2023, ahead of a release on Netflix. However, since the streamer only acquired the domestic rights to the movie, it’s now seeing a spike in viewership on a rival platform. According to FlixPatrol, the film was among the most-watched titles on the global HBO Max charts over the Super Bowl weekend, when the leaderboard was topped by M3GAN 2.0. It served as the feature directorial debut of star Anna Kendrick, and was based on the stranger-than-fiction true story of how a serial killer was nabbed by the cops after appearing on a dating game show. The serial killer operated across the United States at around the same time as the Zodiac Killer, whose crimes served as the basis for Fincher’s Zodiac.

Here’s How ‘Woman of the Hour’ Was a Departure From the Norm for Serial Killer Stories

Kendrick’s movie is called Woman of the Hour. She also featured in the lead role of an aspiring actor who appeared alongside the serial killer, Rodney Alcala, in an episode of The Dating Game in 1978. The movie earned positive reviews and is now sitting at a “Certified Fresh” 91% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. The website’s consensus reads, “Deftly directed by star Anna Kendrick, Woman of the Hour uses an incredible true story as the foundation for a powerful examination of the intersection between systemic misogyny and violence.” Unlike most movies and shows about serial killers, Woman of the Hour spotlighted the victims and presented the story through the perspective of someone who escaped by the skin of her teeth.

You can watch the film at home. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.

Bad Bunny at Super Bowl LX

As backlash swirled online over Bad Bunny headlining the Super Bowl halftime show, at least one high-profile creator is making it clear she’s firmly in his corner. OnlyFans star Sophie Rain spoke out in support of the global superstar after he delivered his first-ever Super Bowl halftime performance, which brought high-energy and an unapologetic party vibe he promised fans.

When Bad Bunny was first announced as the halftime headliner, criticism quickly followed, much of it centered on his Spanish-language music, explicit lyrics, Puerto Rican roots, and outspoken political views. The artist, whose real name is Benito Martínez Ocasio, has been vocal about his opposition to aggressive immigration enforcement and previously called for the end of ICE during a Grammys speech.

Despite calls from some corners to replace him, the NFL stood by its choice. Commissioner Roger Goodell was asked again this week about Bad Bunny’s comments and made it clear the league supports artists using their platforms to express themselves.

Super Bowl Halftime Turns Into Culture War

Much of the backlash, critics noted, ignored the fact that Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory and that Bad Bunny is a U.S. citizen. Instead, the reaction fueled a broader culture war over who gets to represent America on its biggest stage, and what “American” even looks like.

But Sophie Rain wasn’t buying into the outrage.

Shortly after the halftime show performance, Rain took to X, writing, “halftime show was great, wish there wasn’t so much hate in this world.”

In a statement shared with The Blast, Rain expanded on why the performance mattered to her and to so many others watching. “Bad Bunny didn’t just perform,” she said. “He represented millions of people who don’t often see themselves in the spotlight on the biggest stage in America.”

She urged fans not to let political noise drown out what the moment meant. “If you felt seen last night, if you felt proud, hold onto that,” Rain said. “Don’t let all the political noise drown out what the moment meant. Bad Bunny didn’t perform for social media; he performed for his people and to represent what music means to him.”

Rain added that the performance sent a powerful message to those who often feel pushed aside. “He performed for the people who’ve been told they’re too loud, too foreign, too different,” she said. “And he made history doing it.”

She closed by calling for more unity and less division in pop culture and in the world. “I’m proud of artists like Benito,” Rain said. “There’s a lot of hate in the world right now. We need less of that. We need to represent all cultures equally.”

How Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show LSPR Interpreter Made History

How Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Halftime Show LSPR Interpreter Made History

The Super Bowl LX halftime show proved to be more than just a musical milestone. It was also a big win for Deaf advocacy. Although Bad Bunny made history as the first predominantly Spanish-language headliner, the real breakthrough came when a Puerto Rican Sign Language (LSPR) interpreter provided access to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, a move that directly honors the linguistic rights of the Puerto Rican Deaf community.

Article continues below advertisement

Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Honored The Puerto Rican Deaf Community

For years, the standard for accessibility at major events has been American Sign Language (ASL). However, for the 220,000 deaf or hard-of-hearing residents of Puerto Rico, ASL isn’t always used.

LSPR evolved from ASL in the early 1900s, but has developed its own unique pacing, slang, and cultural nuances that make it a separate language. Despite its importance to the Puerto Rican community, linguistic experts have categorized LSPR as an endangered language. Advocacy for its use is a fight for the survival of a specific cultural heritage, and watching it being performed during the Super Bowl only highlights the importance of maintaining the language.

How Celimar Rivera Cosme Started Working With Bad Bunny

Celimar Rivera Cosme was the LSPR interpreter who provided services during the Super Bowl halftime show. Cosme is a native of Puerto Rico. She is hard of hearing and was hired directly by the NFL to interpret Bad Bunny’s set.

However, that doesn’t mean she’s unfamiliar with the superstar. She began working with him in 2022 after an Instagram video she made went viral. According to San Francisco PBS member station KQED, she begged him to include an LSPR interpreter at his shows, and he hired her a week after she posted the video.

Celimar Rivera Cosme Explains The Importance Of LSPR

According to a 2022 report, approximately seven percent of Puerto Rico’s residents identify as either deaf or hard-of-hearing. This would account for approximately 220,000 people in their overall population of 3.2 million.

“We’ve been fighting not to lose our language, but to keep it,” Cosme told The New York Times in an interview ahead of her performance. “The Super Bowl will be an excellent platform for us to use our language.”

She was also thankful for her opportunity to showcase Puerto Rico’s culture and language during the Super Bowl, one of the most-watched sports events of the year.

“The stakes here are to show that we are friendly people, and also how we dance, our lyrics, our slang,” she told the Times. “Puerto Rico… we might be a small island, but people here have a huge, huge heart.”

Celimar Rivera Cosme Was ‘Thrilled’ To Interpret The Super Bowl

In addition, Cosme told KQED that she was “excited” to perform, knowing it would make the people of Puerto Rico “happy” to see their language showcased in such a public way.

“I’m so excited,” she said. “And the deaf people of Puerto Rico are happy that the Super Bowl will be accessible to them in their own sign language.”

She went on to say, “I know I’m going to be the one standing up there, but it’s the deaf community of my island that’s going to shine.”
