Arne Slot Begging for Liverpool Sack by Picking Konate
Arne Slot only has himself to blame for the pressure that he finds himself under as Liverpool boss. The Dutch boss is feeling the heat at Anfield after a woeful run of form in which they have won just four of their last 15 games in all competitions.
After being held to a 1-1 draw by Sunderland, Liverpool had been hoping to get back to winning ways against Leeds at Elland Road. Surging to a 2-0 lead, things were looking good before two goals in three minutes saw Daniel Farke’s side draw level.
Dominik Szoboszlai restored Liverpool’s lead, before Ao Tanaka made it 3-3, much to the frustration of Liverpool’s traveling fans.
Slot Will Regret Not Ditching Ibrahima Konate
While numerous Liverpool stars have failed to impress in recent weeks, Ibrahima Konate has been among the worst on show. The central defender has been responsible for countless mistakes this season and managed it once again with a needless foul on Willy Gnonto to give Leeds a route back into the game.
Given a 3/10 rating at Elland Road, the French star’s contract expires at the end of this season and with serious interest from Real Madrid and other clubs around Europe, it’s clear to see that his levels of concentration aren’t where they need to be. As a result, it’s incredible that he is still selected every week by Slot.
Konate Must Be Dropped For Slot To Save His Job
Liverpool’s poor form needs to be addresssed and surely, Konate’s performances are among the factors that need to be considered. Joe Gomez was on the bench at Elland Road and would be a like-for-like replacement for the 26-year-old, while Wataru Endo has also played centre-back previously as well.
On current form, both of these players would be better options than a player who looks pretty uninterested.
Slot’s job at Anfield is starting to come under serious threat and that means that it’s time for him to make changes, once and for all, in order to have one last chance at getting Liverpool back on track.
If he can’t see that Konate’s form is a big problem for his side then the Dutch boss is taking a real gamble. If results don’t improve in December then it won’t be a surprise to see Slot dismissed and given that the warning signs have been evident around Konate for some time, Slot would have no one to blame but himself for failing to address this problem.
