James Van Der Beek Passes Away At 48 Following Cancer Battle
Roommates… some news hits you right in the nostalgia. For so many of us, James Van Der Beek was the face of late-night teen drama, the sensitive heartthrob whose coming-of-age story felt like our own. He grew up on our screens — and in many ways, with us. Now, his name is trending for a heartbreaking reason — the news of his passing has left fans stunned and deeply saddened.

His Wife Confirms News & Shares Heartfelt Tribute
James Van Der Beek, best known for his role as Dawson Leery on the hit WB series ‘Dawson’s Creek,’ has passed away at the age of 48. His wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, confirmed the devastating news on Instagram, sharing that he “met his final days with courage, faith, and grace.” She added that while there is much to share about his wishes and his love for humanity, the family is asking for “peaceful privacy” as they grieve their “loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.” In the wake of his passing, the family has also created a GoFundMe to help maintain stability during this incredibly difficult time.
James Previously Revealed Private Cancer Battle
Back in early November 2024, James revealed that he had been privately battling Stage 3 colorectal cancer. In an emotional Instagram post dated Nov. 3, 2024, he shared that he had been undergoing treatment and focusing on his health with greater intention than ever before. Throughout his journey, he kept fans updated in heartfelt posts, often expressing deep gratitude for his wife and children, who stood by his side. Even while facing such a serious diagnosis, he maintained a tone of hope and appreciation, thanking supporters for the outpouring of love.
From Teen Heartthrob To Devoted Family Man
Born James David Van Der Beek on March 8, 1977, in Cheshire, Connecticut, he discovered his love for acting at a young age, performing in school plays before making his professional debut in an off-Broadway production of Edward Albee’s ‘Finding the Sun.’ He was a devoted family man, survived by his wife, Kimberly, and their six children. He was previously married to actress Heather McComb. In interviews over the years, James often spoke candidly about fatherhood, fame, and personal growth, showing a grounded side that fans admired just as much as his on-screen roles.
Of course, for many millennials, James will forever be Dawson Leery — the earnest aspiring filmmaker at the center of ‘Dawson’s Creek,’ which ran for six seasons and became a staple of teen television. The show turned him into a household name and teen heartthrob almost overnight. During its run, he starred in films like ‘Varsity Blues’ and made memorable appearances in ‘Scary Movie’ and ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.’ He even embraced a self-aware, comedic twist on his fame with his role as a fictionalized version of himself in ‘Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23,’ proving he didn’t mind making fun of his own legacy. He also appeared in series including ‘CSI: Cyber’ and ‘Pose,’ continuing to evolve as an actor long after his teen idol days.

Netflix Fans Give Up on Unjustly Cancelled 7-Part Western Thrill Ride
Netflix releases thousands of new projects every year, and while some are given the chance to continue beyond one season, others are unfairly cancelled before things get a chance to get going. Platforms cancelling big-budget shows that end on a cliffhanger have become one of the most frustrating streaming trends over the last few years. Netflix isn’t the only one that’s guilty of it, but the streaming Goliath does have something of a cancellation reputation that is getting harder to shake with each new axing. The streamer has cut down on this slightly by marketing many of its new shows as limited series.
One project that received the axe last year, much to the disappointment of fans, was The Abandons. The seven-part Western thrill ride stars Game of Thrones veteran Lena Headey, along with Gillian Anderson, Nick Robinson, and more. The show follows a diverse group of families who must push back against a system that is pushing for coveted land. The Abandons earned scores of 30% from critics and 51% from audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, which may not be anything to glance at twice. However, many would argue that the show is misunderstood and could have further gained its footing in future seasons.
At the time of writing, The Abandons has officially exited every top 10 streaming list around the world. The series was heading in the right direction until Netflix announced last month that it had been cancelled, which led to many giving up on watching it if it was not going to have another season. TV shows have never felt less like long-term investments than they do now, and this trend is only poised to get worse as more time passes.
What Else Is Streaming on Netflix Right Now?
The most popular show on Netflix right now is Unfamiliar, the German spy thriller starring Felix Kramer and Susanne Wolf. The show has even overtaken the latest seasons of Bridgerton and The Lincoln Lawyer, as well as Sullivan’s Crossing, which is flying high with a new season on the way. The most popular movie on Netflix right now is The Rip, the Miami-set crime thriller starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Glen Powell’s 2024 huge summer blockbuster, Twisters, has also become a massive streaming success.
Be sure to watch all seven episodes of the first and only season of The Abandons on Netflix and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.

Angelina Jolie Doubles Down On ‘Love’ For Mastectomy Scars
Angelina Jolie is proud of her scars, and she is not afraid to tell the world.
The actress recently opened up in a candid interview, explaining that her scars are a reminder of the choice she made to stay alive for her children for as long as possible.
Meanwhile, Jolie came under fire when fans accused her of baring her scars as a “sympathy” tactic amid her brutal divorce from her ex-husband, Brad Pitt.

Angelina Jolie Sees Her Scars As A Choice
During an interview with French Inter, Jolie got honest about a painful part of her past that she has learned to embrace.
The 50-year-old actress got a double mastectomy in 2013 after learning that she carried the BRCA 1 gene, which put her at risk for cancer. Now, she has opened up about the decision, noting that she decided to do the procedure to give herself as much time as possible to be there for her loved ones.
To Jolie, her scars are only a reminder of the choices she made and her experiences as a human being. “Well, I’ve always been someone more interested in the scars and the life that people carry,” the “Maleficent” star said.

“I’m not drawn to some perfect idea of a life that has no scars. So no, I think, hey, you know, I see my scars are a choice I made to do what I could do to stay here as long as I could with my children,” she added.
The Oscar winner acknowledged her “love” for her scars, saying that she is grateful for the opportunity to do something “proactive” about her health.
She then recalled losing her mother at a young age, causing her to raise her kids without their grandmother. As a result, it all summed up to her life experiences.
“So for me, no, I think this is life. And if you get to the end of your life and you haven’t made [a big, you know], you haven’t made mistakes, you haven’t made a mess, you don’t have scars, you haven’t lived a full enough life, I think,” she noted.

Angelina Jolie Made A Bold Move To Show Her Scars To The World

Jolie’s honest statements came weeks after she decided to openly show the scars from her double mastectomy.
In December 2025, The Blast reported that the Hollywood icon was interviewed by TIME France, during which her scars were openly photographed.
Speaking about her decision, she spoke about being moved by other women’s scars and wanting to join them in a bid to keep the empowerment train going.
“I wanted to join them, knowing that TIME France would be sharing information about breast health, prevention, and knowledge about breast cancer,” she explained.

The ‘Tomb Raider’ Actress Was Slammed For Her Statements

After Jolie openly shared her scars with the world, she received an unexpected reaction from fans, who accused her of doing it for sympathy.
The interview was met with spiteful comments on social media from fans who couldn’t help but point out that she decided to show the world her scars amid her long, drawn-out divorce battle with Pitt.
Nevertheless, insiders close to the actress defended her, saying that her words were being misconstrued.
“She is proud of what she’s done and why she’s sharing it. But people are twisting it, linking it to everything else going on in her life,” one insider said, according to The Blast.

Angelina Jolie Is Reportedly Preparing To Relocate

Amid the controversy surrounding her interview, Jolie was still reportedly moving forward with her plans to relocate abroad.
According to The Blast, she reportedly put her L.A. home up for sale and had already gotten several qualified prospective buyers.
One source said of the move, “She’s ready for a life that isn’t centered in Los Angeles.” Meanwhile, this came after Jolie acknowledged that although she “loves” her country, she doesn’t “recognize” it anymore.
Jolie’s Divorce From Brad Pitt Reportedly Put A Strain On Her Finances

Amid rumors of Jolie’s relocation, further reports surfaced, alleging that she is going through a difficult time financially and struggling to maintain her lifestyle in L.A.
As reported by The Blast, a source confirmed that while the humanitarian is “not broke,” she’s also not “swimming in cash either.”
Another insider reported that her drawn-out divorce battle had left her financially depleted, as she reportedly had to sell off some assets to cover legal fees.

Young and Restless Early Spoilers Feb 16-20: Phyllis Takes Everything in Ruthless Power Grab & Diane Explodes
Young and the Restless spoilers for Feb 16-20 suggest Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) is stealing everything, and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) is going to be raging.
As we always do on early edition day, we start with what’s coming the rest of this week. Then, we’re going to dive into what’s coming next week.
Young and the Restless Spoilers: This Week’s Major Drama
On Wednesday, February 11th, Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) updates Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) that the police know where Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) is. They’ve confirmed Dominic Chancellor (Ethan Ray Clark) is with her, and she is going to be arrested soon.
Tessa tells him that Mariah lost interest in her and their daughter Aria Porter-Copeland (Millie Ingle). Tessa said that after all that, she just decided to stop fighting her feelings for Daniel. In the end, Tessa has no regrets about being with Daniel. He has no regrets either.
Y&R Spoilers: Mariah, Dominic, and the Emotional Standoff
Tessa says that Mariah is facing prison once she’s back and will need support. The question is whether that support will come from her or if she’ll leave that to Sharon Newman (Sharon Case).
Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway), Devon Hamilton Winters (Bryton James), Sharon, and Detective James Burrows (Matt Cohen) are on a private plane. They are heading to stop Mariah from leaving the country with Dominic. And they all agree that Mariah needs help. They just need to get Dominic to safety.
Mariah is in New Mexico. She was heading for the border. They debate how to approach her safely, and in the end, they decide Sharon needs to do it instead of the cops.
Dominic’s Ordeal and the Private Plane Rescue on Young and the Restless
Mariah is driving with Dominic. He’s complaining that he wants his parents. Mariah says they don’t want him right now. Dominic freaks out when Mariah says they are going to their new home. He doesn’t like her calling him Bowie.
He starts yelling at her to stop and call his parents. Dominic unbuckles his seatbelt to grab the phone. Mariah is yelling and crying. Then she rants at Dominic for not appreciating her, and she says sorry. Dominic calls Mariah mean, and she says they can’t go home.
She talks about how she has a more significant bond with him than Abby does because he grew in Mariah’s belly. Dominic nods off as Mariah talks again about being his mommy and Dominic being her son. She has pulled over for this whole confrontation.
Y&R Spoilers: Sharon and Abby Reunite with Dominic
Then, Sharon gets in the car with her and says she brought some special people to see Dominic. The kid wakes up. Abby and Devon are there. Dominic runs to them, and they get him loaded onto the private plane on Young and the Restless.
Dominic tells them Mariah was taking him to Mexico. So, Dominic says that he dreamed his daddy Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) was watching over him from heaven. They tell Dominic that the police are going to take Mariah to a doctor because she is really sad.
Devon calls Tessa and lets her know they have Dominic. He is safe, and Mariah has been arrested. Tessa is crying in Daniel’s arms. She says she has to let Mariah go. She is ready to move on with Daniel.
Detective Burrows lets Mariah know that once they’re back in Genoa City, she is going to be charged with kidnapping.
Emotional Fallout for Mariah and Sharon on Young and the Restless
Sharon is there with Mariah. She tells her that moms find their daughters when they’re lost. Sharon tells Mariah she loves her no matter what. They will get through this. Mariah is crying on her mom’s shoulder. She clearly needs help.
On Thursday, February 12th, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) is stunned when Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) shows up at the Abbott mansion really worked up and upset. I wonder if she’s going to tell Jack about Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) kidnapping.
Big Moves for Jack Abbott and Nikki Newman on Y&R
We know that Nikki is going to tell Jack she’s worried about what Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is going to do next. She fears he may go too far beyond what she can tolerate. Jack and Nikki are hugging, and he’s comforting her.
Diane walks in and is really irritated to see Nikki in Jack’s arms. Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) spies on Phyllis and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) plotting. She may overhear Phyllis bragging about chloroforming Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn).
Phyllis, Billy, and Victoria: Plotting and Power Plays
We know that Phyllis is rushing to transfer assets over to them so Victor can’t get them back from Cane. It looks like Newman Enterprises is meant for Phyllis, Chancellor is meant for Billy, and he asked for Newman Media to go to Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). Phyllis didn’t like that but agreed to it.
I don’t even know if Billy’s girlfriend would accept it. I don’t think she would. Also, Victor realizes something shocking about Cane. On Thursday, we’ll see Victor over at the Cane train. He is in the bedroom when Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) walks in and sees Cane lying there, still as a corpse.
At first, Adam worries that Victor did something to Cane. Of course, we know Phyllis just chloroformed him. Unless they figure it out, they may think Cane’s drunk. They are definitely going to realize he’s unconscious.
Young and the Restless: Adam, Chelsea, and the Valentine’s Day Surprises
On Friday, February 13th, Adam is romancing Chelsea Lawson Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) for Valentine’s Day. I’m sure they are going to try to forget all the Newman drama, at least for the day. Billy is going over the top to try and prove himself to Sally. But I think she will be upset if Billy tries to give her Newman Media for Valentine’s Day.
I don’t think Sally will like Billy trying to give her something that’s stolen. Especially if it’s because Billy’s conspiring with Phyllis. That’s not going to help. Plus, Sally is happy with Abbotcom. If Newman Media is some sort of grand gesture from Billy, I think it’s going to fall flat.
Meanwhile, Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) is working overtime to impress Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun) for Valentine’s Day. It looks like he’s not going to accept the breakup. He may head to Los Angeles.

Y&R February Sweeps: What’s Next?
The week of February 16th through the 20th is the last full week of February sweeps. Sweeps wraps on the 25th. The following week we’ll have three more episodes of sweeps. Sharon supports Mariah as she is back in Genoa City facing criminal charges for kidnapping Dominic. Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell) is back soon, likely to represent Mariah.
I have no doubt Christine is going to enter an insanity plea as she should because Mariah is totally unhinged. Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) pain grows. It’s not getting any better. He’s going to be out of his prescription pills soon that he and Sharon got from the doctor. By the end of sweeps, I think Nick’s growing pain and medication crisis is going to move to the front burner.
Returns to Genoa City: Lily, Patty, and Matt Clark
Lily is going to be back on screen in March. Christel Khalil is already back filming after giving birth to baby number three. Stacy Haiduk is returning as Patty Williams. She will also be on air in March. Maybe interacting with Mariah.
I do suspect we may get one last hurrah from Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) by the end of sweeps. There is a spoiler saying, just when you think he’s gone, he’s back. There’s one last big confrontation and conflagration.
Noah and Sienna: Romance on the Edge on Young and the Restless
Noah’s heart is in Sienna’s hands, but I doubt she is going to stay with him. It’s probably going to send him back to Genoa City alone and brokenhearted. Claire Grace Newman (Hayley Erin) search for dirt on Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) intensifies while she and Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) are in LA. Claire wants to head to that gallery to get some answers. Sienna may give her some more info too.
Diane, Sally, Cane & Phyllis: Who Comes Out on Top?
Diane is just about over Jack being so close and so unreasonably loyal to his ex-wife Nikki. Sally is unsure what to do about Billy. We’ll find out if Cane was knocked out long enough for Phyllis to get everything she wanted.
If so, the big losers are going to be Cane and Victor. If you remember, Cane called Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) and said, “Destroy the AI and draw up paperwork to transfer the assets back to Victor.” So, I do suspect the AI is destroyed. But with Amanda doing paperwork while Phyllis is moving things electronically, I think she may beat Amanda to the punch.

3 Overlooked 2025 Movies to Watch in February — Including 1 “Masterpiece” No One Likes
Now that the 2026 Super Bowl is over, it’s time to pay attention to what’s really important in life — watching good films.
There’s plenty of quality movies out there, including a few that were criminally ignored last year.
Watch With Us is here to right that wrong. I’ve selected three overlooked 2025 movies that are worth your time to watch in February.
From the critically maligned Ella McCay starring Jamie Lee Curtis on Disney+ to the afterlife rom-com Eternity with Elizabeth Olsen on Apple TV, these pictures deserve a second life on streaming.
‘Ella McCay’ (2025) — Disney+
Recently, the December bomb Ella McCay was released in France to ecstatic reviews, with one critic hailing the maligned comedy-drama as a masterpiece. I wouldn’t go quite that far, but it’s nice to see Ella McCay appreciated for the charming — if flawed — movie that it is.
Ella McCay (Emma Mackey) suddenly finds herself the governor of a state in desperate need of help. Ella’s personal life could use some fixing up, too, especially when her estranged father, Eddie McCay (Woody Harrelson), crashes back into her life. With a looming political scandal and a crumbling marriage, Ella’s life is more chaotic than ever. Can she be the leader everyone needs her to be?
There’s a lot going on in Ella McCay, and not all of it works, but it has enough good qualities that make it better than its bad reputation here in the States. Anyone who has seen Sex Education knows Mackey is a talented actress, and she finally has a lead role in a big-budget movie that shows her flair for comedy and drama. Written and directed by James L. Brooks, the film echoes his earlier classics like Terms of Endearment and Broadcast News in depicting messy family and professional relationships that aren’t easy to categorize or deal with.
‘Eternity’ (2025) — Apple TV+
Finding true love is rare, but Joan (Elizabeth Olsen) is lucky — she found it twice, with Luke (Callum Turner) when she was very young and with Larry (Miles Teller), whom she’s been married to for 65 years. Now Joan is faced with an impossible decision — which one should she spend the rest of eternity with?
Eternity isn’t your usual rom-com fare. For starters, everyone in the movie is dead — the movie takes place in an afterlife where you get to decide who you want to spend forever with in a customized eternal existence. The only catch is that once you choose an eternity, that decision is final — any attempts to go back will lead you to be cast away into The Void, which is as bleak as it sounds.
Eternity isn’t bleak; instead, it’s a surprisingly optimistic portrait about what could possibly happen after you shuffle off this mortal coil. The movie is clever in that it doesn’t make Joan’s decision obvious — both men truly love her, even if their love for her means different things. Taking a break from playing the MCU’s wicked witch and real-life murderers on streaming, Olsen finally snags a role that lets her showcase her rom-com bonafides. You couldn’t ask for a more charming actress to spend Eternity with.
Eternity will stream on Apple TV on February 13.
‘The Running Man’ (2025) — Paramount+
One of the few truly bankable genres left at the box office is sci-fi, so it’s even more perplexing that The Running Man wasn’t a hit at the box office last November. It has everything going for it: a charismatic lead star, Glen Powell, who shows off his action-movie prowess; assured direction from Edgar Wright, who clearly loves the Stephen King story he’s adapting; and a killer-reality-show concept that, in our age of Beast Wars and real-life Squid Games, is more relevant than ever.
Powell plays Ben Richards, a blue-collar everyman who is trying to get by in a bleak future dystopia. When his daughter gets sick, he needs a lot of money to get the treatment she needs to survive. The only way for someone like him to do that is to take part in The Running Man, a reality TV competition show that awards the winner $1 billion. Sounds awesome, right? Well, the downside is that there can be only one winner, and all the losers have to pay a very high price — their lives.

Norwegian biathlon star Sturla Holm Laegreid raised eyebrows on Tuesday when he used his bronze-medal interview to tearfully confess to an affair, after finishing 3rd place at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
However, the woman at the center of the event’s most startling personal drama has finally broken her silence.
Speaking via a statement with Norwegian outlet VG, Laegreid’s ex-girlfriend, who chose to remain anonymous, made it clear that such a public declaration of love doesn’t erase the pain of betrayal.
“It’s hard to forgive. Even after a declaration of love in front of the whole world,” she told the news outlet on Wednesday, going further to slam the sports star for putting their personal issues out in public.

The Olympian Admitted To Cheating On Live TV
Behind closed doors, it has obviously been a difficult time for the pair, with Laegreid profusely tearing up on live TV while noting it has been “the worst week of my life,” despite finishing among the competition’s best athletes.
“Six months ago, I met the love of my life and the most beautiful and kindest person in the world,” he said in an emotional interview with Norwegian broadcaster NRK. “Three months ago, I made my biggest mistake and cheated on her.”
The six-time world champion was hoping the grand gesture would prove his remorse and help win her back.
He explained that he had disclosed the affair to her only a week prior, but had not “got any reaction from her” since going public.

“I am happy because maybe she has not seen it and maybe she will see it at the right time,” Laegreid said. “I hope I don’t make it worse for her. Maybe it can help. I don’t know. We will see.”

“I hope there’s light at the end of the tunnel for both of us and that she can still love me,” he added.
The champion sports star explained that he had a “revelation” the night before, and that was the reason why he dropped “this bomb” on live TV.
“Then we’ll see what happens. I have nothing to lose,” he said. “I am already hated by her, and I hope that maybe it can make her realize how much I love her.
The Winter Olympic Star Would Rather Lose His Medal Than His Estranged Girlfriend
Laegreid’s estranged girlfriend seems to have been in good company since her heart was shattered, as she referenced how great a support friends and family have shown her.
“I am grateful to my family and friends who have embraced me and supported me during this time,” she wrote, adding thanks to “everyone else who has thought of me and sympathized, without knowing who I am.”
The 2026 Winter Olympics aren’t over yet, and promises to be filled with the competition’s finest vying for glory. But for Laegreid, he would rather have his medal taken away than lose his girlfriend.
“I had the gold medal in life,” he said. “I am sure there are many people who will see things differently, but I only have eyes for her. Sport has come second these last few days. Yes, I wish I could share this with her.”

One person commented on X, “There is nothing more manipulative than a man who uses an Olympic bronze medal as a shield to force his ex-girlfriend back into the spotlight after he cheated.”
Another said, “It’s manipulative behavior to try to force her to forgive him under pressure from the whole world. He shouldn’t have cheated on her in the first place. Now he must face the consequences fairly.”

1990s Sci-Fi Epic Blockbuster Flop Restored And Embraced By Fans
By Jeffrey Rapaport

Critics panned Lost in Space when it premiered in the ’90s, though the film fared pretty well commercially and earned a cult audience. Today, in a remarkable turn of events, the movie enjoys new life and appreciation among fans via a restored Collector’s Edition by Shout Factory. The re-release reignited interest in the cult classic.
Shout Factory is renowned for reviving classic films, and they’ve gone to the limit for Lost In Space. Their special edition of the sci-fi film shipped in 2024. The Lost In Space Special Edition features a new 2K scan of the interpositive, ensuring a hugely enhanced visual experience.

The Lost in Space re-release includes bells and whistles like DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, commentaries from director Stephen Hopkins, writer-producer Akiva Goldsman, and others, in addition to deleted/additional scenes, and more. The comprehensive package surpasses a mere restoration: it’s a celebration of the film’s unique, underappreciated place in sci-fi cinema.
Premiering in the late 1990s, the film amounted to an ambitious adaptation of the 1960s TV series (of the same name). The movie sought to nail the same sense of adventure and wonder inherent to space travel, intertwining it all with family dynamics and futuristic tech.

The narrative revolves around the intergalactic Robinson family, as they embark on a mission to discover a habitable planet. Of course, the space-faring Robinsons are soon lost in space (wink-wink) and thrown off course, resulting in an extraordinary, often funny saga through deep space.
In 2058, with the Earth facing imminent uninhabitability, the Powers That Be launch the Robinson family on the spaceship Jupiter II. Their mission? Get to Alpha Prime, where the Robinsons are to build a hypergate for Earth’s population transfer.

Soon, however, terrorists sabotage the effort. Their spy, Dr. Zachary Smith, steers the ship off course. The family thus encounters the derelict vessel Proteus, in addition to the memorably creepy, spider-like creatures aboard. All of this sets the stage for a thrilling sci-fi experience, benefitting from healthy doses of comedy, as the Robinsons battle baddies, leverage time travel, and save the world.
Upon its release in 1998, Lost in Space endured a decidedly mixed reaction from critics. The experts admitted that the film boasted impressive special effects and a stellar cast (William Hurt and Matt LeBlanc, at the height of his Friends fame, shine). But the movie suffered from plot inconsistencies and, some critics claimed, failed to embody the original series’s unique sensibility fully.

Roger Ebert particularly panned the movie, which today has a dismal 27 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an only marginally better 42 out of 100 on Metacritic (always the more charitable aggregator).
However, Lost in Space’s box office earnings were more positive. Against an $80 million budget, the movie grossed around $136 million worldwide for a $56 million profit: not bad.

Thankfully, the film’s saga did not end there; it transformed from a critical joke to a cult darling. In the following decades, fans came to appreciate the film’s ambition and quirky vision, alongside its singular aesthetic. They also disagreed with so-called professionals, embracing the movie’s nostalgic connection to the 1960s TV series.
The restored version released by Shout Factory testifies to the enduring appeal of Lost in Space.

Days of our Lives Early Spoilers Feb 16-20: Dimitri Erupts in Fury & Xander Finds New Romance
Days of Our Lives spoilers for Feb 16-20, 2026 indicate Dimitri von Leuschner DiMera (Peter Porte) is irate and Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) is moving on.
As we always do on early edition day, we start with what’s coming the rest of this week, and then we’ll dive into the action next week.
Days of our Lives Spoilers: Salem Heats Up with Dimitri and Xander Drama
On Wednesday, February 11th, Valentine’s Day gets started in Salem. Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) is noticing a shift in EJ DiMera’s (Dan Feuerriegel) demeanor and behavior. I thought he looked really devilish at the moment he slid Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) ring onto his finger in the crypt. This happened after Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) hand-delivered it to him and told him it was the original Phoenix ring.
DOOL Spoilers: EJ DiMera Faces Dark Temptations with Stefano’s Legacy
Then Rolf told EJ that he must carry on his father’s work and legacy. I think that’s the time to wake up the pod person and get more villainous.
Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) and Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) have a talk. Since it is Valentine’s Day, I’m sure that Leo is really missing Javi Hernandez (Al Calderon). At least Dimitri’s in jail, falsely accused of the DiMera kidnapping, so he’s not in Leo’s hair. I wonder if Marlena is going to have some good advice on Days of our Lives.
Plus, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) gets an enticing offer from Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk). She pulled Rachel Black (Alice Halsey) out of Bayview without Brady agreeing. Belle Black (Martha Madison) warned her that Rachel could face judicial consequences now that she took her out of the psych hospital—as in juvie instead of therapy. But Kristen is stubborn.
Brady and Kristen’s Custody War Over Rachel Intensifies
She offers Brady joint custody, but the question is at what cost? I wonder if it will be to support her keeping Rachel out when Belle keeps saying this is a bad idea. Belle says they’re going to really tank the criminal case against her.
Dimitri wants his freedom. He keeps insisting to Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) and others that he did not kidnap the DiMeras. I wonder if Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) is going to get him out of the Salem PD lockup in time for him to try and woo Leo on Valentine’s Day.
Gwen, Melinda & Rafe: Salem’s Law and Love Tangle with Dimitri
On Thursday, February 12th, we have Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) ready to leave Salem. He’s going to take the kids to Arizona for an extended period. If you don’t remember, a fair amount of Salemites used to live in Arizona. Will Horton (Chandler Massey) and Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker) used to live out there.
Arianna “Ari” Grace Horton (Marissa Reyes) was with them when she was younger, and Chad spent time with them out there. Nobody that used to live there is there now, though, that we’ve heard. So it’s kind of an interesting choice.
It was his brother Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) who convinced Chad that he should take Thomas DiMera (Cary Christopher) and Charlotte DiMera (Autumn Gendron) away for some quality time after the custody battle. Plus, Thomas is taking some heat over the Jeremy stuff.
Chad DiMera’s Big Move: Family Turmoil and Last Days in Salem
Billy Flynn’s last episode comes really soon. Then we’re going to meet the recast Chad and recast Thomas in a couple of months.
There’s a spoiler photo of Chad and Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) in the square on Valentine’s Day. Chad approaches her to tell her he’s taking the kids to Arizona. Maybe it’s a kiss goodbye. Or maybe one of them is daydreaming. Chad should not be kissing Cat in the middle of Salem Town Square because he knows that is a deal breaker for Thomas. They even wrote it into the custody papers.
Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) and Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) surprise Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) with a wedding. This elopement is the real deal, not just for the stalker. Of course, he’s thrilled to marry Stephanie. He carries his wife home and over the threshold in his arms, ready to start honeymooning.
Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) and Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) enjoy some Valentine’s Day romance. Cat gets invited to dinner by EJ. With Chad walking away and leaving town, Cat may decide to double down on her ISA investigation into EJ.
Valentine’s Day on DOOL: Weddings, Romance, and Spying on EJ
We also may see this week the kiss that we know is coming between Cat and EJ. Also this week, Gwen and Xander are flirty. They’re playing putt-putt in the park. Then Gwen takes him back to her bedroom in the DiMera mansion and climbs aboard. So it looks like Xander is embracing single life even if he doesn’t want to, since Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) is moving on with Brady.
Xander, Sarah, and Gwen: Complicated Hearts and Fresh Starts on DOOL
On Friday, February 13th, we’ve got Maggie Horton Kiriakis (Susanne Rogers), Marlena, and Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) getting together to talk about past Valentine’s Days. Of course, their sweethearts have all passed away now.
Maggie lost Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston), Marlena lost John Black (Drake Hogestyn), and Julie lost Doug Williams (Bill Hayes). I’m hoping we’re going to get a few flashbacks of some of their Valentine’s Day pasts with their soulmates. I enjoyed the recent Stefano flashbacks too, I will say.
Brady has a heartfelt conversation with Tate Black (Leo Howard), and it may be about Rachel, maybe about Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis). I do wonder if Tate is going to move into Brady’s new place with them.
Xander and Sarah have a bittersweet moment of nostalgia. We know Brady and Sarah moved forward officially, and Xander may have already gotten intimate with Gwen by then.

Days Spoilers: Memories and Heartache: Maggie, Marlena, Julie & The Ones They Loved
Plus, Julie and Gwen are swapping insults on Friday. She may cash that big check she got from Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) and go back to the bookstore to flaunt some cash in front of Julie. She’s trying to restore some of her pride because Gwen was really upset after Julie mocked her.
Plus, Holly snaps. She is going to freak out on Tate at the Brady Pub, saying things about him wanting to pretend everything’s fine when it’s not. Those drugs that Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd) slipped Holly looked to be pretty strong. They seem to be turning Holly into somebody new and unlikable.
Holly’s Downward Spiral & Gwen Versus Julie: DOOL’s Fiery Friday
The week of February 16th through the 20th is the last full week of February sweeps, which officially wraps on the 25th. Gwen and Xander may have already hit the sheets on Valentine’s Day. We’ll see if they stop at a one-night stand, which is all he wanted from Gwen. Or maybe Xander asked Gwen out for another date.
Certainly, she wants to be with Xander and has for a long time. But any rebound between Gwen and Xander is going to be short-lived because we know from our leaker there is a Sarah and Xander reunion coming.
Gwen & Xander: Can Love Last or Will Sarah Change Everything on Days of Our Lives?
I kind of hope Dimitri walks in on them in bed because we know he doesn’t want Gwen to have any happiness in her life for obvious reasons. Cat may not be able to stop being attracted to EJ. We’ll see if they discuss Chad leaving and her being hurt. I wonder if Cat can keep her feelings for EJ compartmentalized so she can do her job for the ISA.
Chad’s packing up and leaving Salem. We’re going to see Billy Flynn’s last air date. Then Connor Floyd’s debut as the new Chad comes in April. Gabi is still cleaning up the mess—I mean, Gwen is still cleaning up the mess she made with Dimitri. The question is, how long will Dimitri stay behind bars since the charges against him are trumped up?
Dimitri in Jail, Gwen’s Guilt, and Chad’s Exit: DOOL Sweeps’ Shocking Twists
Lani Price (Sal Stowers) and Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) are headed back to Salem with the twins. I’m really excited about that.
Stephanie’s stalker soon snatches her from the hospital. Owen Kent (Wes Ramsey) is ready to make his move. Stephanie’s wedding to Alex may have pushed Owen to act now. Taking her from work, where they think Stephanie is safe, is the perfect plan.
We are going to see Alex assaulting and blaming Jeremy Horton (Michael Roark) for her kidnapping. Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) is certain that it’s Jeremy, so he’s going to be super surprised when he grabs the guy in the hoodie in the park. It’s Owen Kent, who is another terrible blast from Stephanie’s past.
Arianna “Ari” Grace Horton noticed an abrupt and unwanted change in Holly. Of course, nobody knows that Sophia drugged her.
Days of Our Lives Returns and Revelations: Lani, Eli, Stephanie & Salem’s Troubled Teens
Rolf and EJ are nearly ready to revive the pod person. Very soon, Paulina Price (Jackee Harry) is shocked when EJ takes her down to the secret lab and shows her who is in the tube. Paulina looks horrified. I think it might be Lexie Carver (Renée Jones). We’ll know more soon.

Beyond the Gates Early Spoilers Feb 16-20: Hayley Trapped in Crisis & Nicole Pumps the Brakes
Beyond the Gates spoilers for Feb 16-20, 2026 see Hayley Lawson (Marquita Goings) cornered and Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnee Duplaix) possibly tapping the brakes with one of her new guys.
As we always do on early edition day, we’re going to talk about what is coming the rest of this week. Then, we’ll dive into what is coming next week.
Hayley, Nicole, and the Latest Relationship Twists on Beyond the Gates
On Wednesday, February 11th, we’ve got Dr. Carlton Fitzgerald (Robert Christopher Riley) interrupting Dr. Kyle Rollins (Greg Vaughn) and Nicole’s hot date. We’ve already seen Kyle and Nicole out once together. They were making out. Kyle wanted to take it back to his place, but Nicole said she wasn’t quite ready for that. It looks like she might be soon.
I suspect that Nicole is not going to like Carlton butting into her date since he knew she was going to be seeing other people. He didn’t want monogamy or anything serious right now. So this may not work out well for him.
Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) and Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) offer some wisdom to teenagers Jessica (Camryn Jade), Samantha Richardson (Najah Jackson), and Tyrell Richardson (Jaden Lucas Miller). This may be prompted by more antics by Anastasia (Timeca M. Seretti) over at the country club. She’s stirring up trouble and stirring the pot. She keeps smack-talking.
Anastasia’s Schemes and Anita’s Perspective in BTG
Anita, who herself was not a cotillion debutante, is interesting in this context. I wonder if Anastasia is back hitting at Anita or if Fairmont Crest’s worst gossip is targeting someone else instead. Probably somebody near and dear to Anita since she likes picking on the Dupree.
Chelsea Hamilton (RhonniRose Mantilla) wonders if Hamilton history is going to repeat itself. I wonder if this is her thinking about Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) giving up her modeling career to start a family with Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett). Chelsea may be worried about Dr. Madison Montgomery (Kenjah McNeil) giving up on her fellowship. I think it’s Parkinson’s research and giving up that dream for Chelsea.
She may be worried long term it won’t work out because she watched her parents’ marriage fall apart. Hayley seems off to Bill after her recent mugging and injury. Of course, that was all cooked up with Lynette Wise (Domini Madison). Lynette now has Hayley’s big old diamond engagement ring. Like a dummy, Lynette let June (Jasmine Burke) see it. I wonder if June might mention to somebody that she saw it. Nothing much gets by her. She notices things.
Navigating Family Worries: Chelsea, Hayley, and Bill on Beyond the Gates
Thursday, February 12th, we have Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli) encouraging Nicole that she shouldn’t be indulging in any guilty feelings. Now, Nicole may be opening up to Vanessa about feeling bad about wanting too much. You know, dating Kyle and Carlton simultaneously and sleeping with both of them, if at that point she’s gotten intimate with Kyle as well.
But Nicole told both Kyle and Carlton what the deal was. They both accepted it. So Vanessa’s right, Nicole should not feel bad about anything. Shanice Johnson (Ernestine Johnson) chews out Carlton. By the way, Shanice is putting him in his place on Beyond the Gates. I wonder if she finds out that Carlton interrupted Nicole’s date.
It’s interesting because Shanice is the one who fixed Nicole up with Kyle. I thought Dr. Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson) handled it pretty well finding out that his girlfriend fixed up his ex-wife with this hottie doctor. Fortunately, he left it alone.
BTG Spoilers: Shanice, Ted, and Nicole’s Complicated Connections
Dana ‘Leslie’ Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant) needs advice from Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) about a personal matter. It’s probably more stuff with Teddy Bear.
Speaking of Teddy Bear, he endures the rantings of an ex. So it may be Leslie griping about Shanice or maybe Nicole griping about Carlton.
Plus, Randy Parker (Maurice P. Kerry) is upset with Hayley. When she tells him what she and Lynette pulled off, Randy is really tired of Hayley’s impatience and going off script. With Bill off the tee, she’ll have to find another way to drug him.
Plus, the new doctor is looking for the medication. So it’s getting messy for the little con women.

Leslie, Teddy Bear, and New Schemes in BTG
Friday, February 13th, we have a reporter hassling and heckling Dani. She is announcing her new role as a lead model. It’s her big comeback. But she’s had a very headline-worthy past year. You know, whipping out a gun at her ex-husband’s wedding, which she was a guest at when she shouldn’t have ever been there. But that was on Bill. I think she’s going to be asked some tough questions.
Plus, she’s got a much younger new husband. I hope Dani owns it all and puts that person in their place. Katherine ‘Kat’ Richardson (Colby Muhammad) and Vernon have a heart-to-heart. This may be about Anita and the cancer. Or it could be about Kat’s issues with Eva Thomas Richardson (Ambyr Michelle) and thinking that Ted has no right to love his other child.
Dani Hamilton’s Comeback and Kat’s Confessions in BTG
Anita is reassuring to both Dani and Nicole. This may be about the cancer or the side effects of the chemo and the dizzy spells she’s been having.
Plus, Lynette gets what she wants from Bill and Hayley. Lynette already got the pro bono case thing from Bill’s law firm. Lynette has Hayley’s ring. I’m wondering if she claims that she found it.
She did say to June that it was too valuable to put on her finger. So, I guess she can try to pawn it. Maybe if she says she was able to get it back, I don’t know.
Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne (Arielle Prepetit) is already giving Lynette side-eye because they noticed she had a mark on her hand from when she punched Hayley. She put her gloves on to cover it.
Secrets, Betrayals, and New Rivalries on Beyond the Gates
The week of February 16th to the 20th is the last full week of February sweeps. The following week, we’ll have three more episodes, then it’s all done on February 25th. So we’re getting closer to seeing Cotillion. Anita is hoping that Samantha or Jessica win the top prize and edge out Anastasia’s granddaughter.
Jacob Hawthorne (Jibre Hordges) is edging into dangerous territory with his undercover Impaler assignment. June may give him and Bradley ‘Smitty’ Smith (Mike Manning) some more info, although she backed off before.
We could see Nicole tapping the brakes with Carlton and focusing on Kyle if Carlton cannot find some chill about the fact that she wants to date casually. Dani is going to start wedding planning, but I think Chelsea is going to be worried about Madison giving up her dream to be her wife.
Hayley’s move to play victim and get Bill’s attention away from Dani may not go exactly as Hayley hopes. Bill is distracted by Chelsea’s engagement. His former family is basically taking up all his time.
Now Hayley’s frustrated because she can’t even keep poisoning his tea. This means she can’t just up and kill Bill like she was really wanting to. She’s lost all the progress she had of slowly poisoning him.
Cotillion Tension, Undercover Drama, and Wedding Worries on BTG
Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman) supports Dani and encourages her not to let the scrutiny from this reporter get to her. He tells her she should just live her life. Leslie cannot stand how close Shanice and Ted are getting. I think she’s going to up the ante on breaking them up.
Ted already warned Leslie to stop this or they’re not even going to be friends. But as we all know, Leslie can’t ever stop anything. Anita’s cancer treatments progress. Of course, she’s giving it her all, but I do expect more side effects soon.
Lynette’s going to be an ongoing problem for Hayley and also for Randy. Plus, Vanessa’s ready to move in with Joey. He is very worried about her safety. But I don’t think Vanessa is going to take no for an answer. She may just show up with moving boxes.
Grayson Perez (Jordie Vilasuso) and Ashley Morgan (Jen Jacob) heat up. She’s not going to hear any criticism about him from Derek Baldwin (Ben Gavin) now that she knows Grayson is caretaking his sick mom. Derek’s new job should start soon. Working with Leslie should be a nightmare.

Candiace Calls Out Rob Rausch’s ‘Dirty Gameplay’ On ‘The Traitors’
Candiace Dillard Bassett did her big one on season 4 of Peacock’s hit reality competition series “The Traitors.” After being selected as one of the show’s titular characters, the “Real Housewives of Potomac” alum’s reign in the game came to an end after clashing with her fellow Traitor, “Love Island USA” star Rob Rausch. For those who may be unfamiliar, Bassett and Raush’s feud reached its boiling point during episode 8 after Raush began floating Bassett’s name to other contestants, culminating in the latter’s banishment. During a new interview, Bassett spoke about her experience playing the game and didn’t mince words when discussing her co-star.

Candiace Dillard Bassett Was More Than Excited To Be Selected As A Traitor
During episode 1, Bassett was selected to be a Traitor alongside Rausch and fellow “Real Housewives” reality star Lisa Rinna.
Speaking with Vulture, Bassett explained what she was feeling when she learned she’d been chosen as one of the season’s treacherous killers.
“Internally, I screamed. I was doing backflips,” the mother of one shared. “My body got hot, and I felt like the world was my oyster.”
For Bassett, the trip to Scotland wasn’t for no reason.
“If you’re gonna play the game, go balls to the wall. The game is called ‘The Traitors,’ so of course, you want to be the main character, because I’m a main character. It made sense, and I was so happy that Alan entrusted me with such a responsibility,” she said.

Did Candiace Dillard Bassett Want To Betray Her Fellow Traitors While Filming The Show?

The first several episodes were smooth sailing for Bassett and the rest of the Traitors. Things, however, turned during episode 6 when Rausch cast a vote to banish Rinna, essentially disbanding the original Traitor team by sowing distrust.
Bassett explained that she never wanted to turn against her fellow Traitors and called out Rausch for doing exactly that. “For Rob specifically, there were other options. I think that’s just what he wanted to do,” she said.

Candiace Dillard Bassett Says Raush ‘Lied’ To The Traitors During Production
Rausch addressed his actions during episode 7, explaining to Rinna and Bassett that he voted for the “Days of our Lives” alum only because he felt there was no way to avoid her going home. During that same episode, Rausch vowed to protect Rinna and the rest of the Traitor crew.
As the name of the show suggests, however, Rausch pulled the traitorous move by the end of the episode, catching Bassett and Rinna completely off guard.
“Rob had lied to his Traitors at breakfast. He told us he didn’t mean to vote for Lisa, he was sorry he voted for Lisa, he didn’t think she was gonna go home. And then he goes to the roundtable that same night and not only votes for her but leads the charge,” Bassett said.

“You just lied to our faces. The game is called The Traitors, and he wasn’t being a Traitor. He was being a snake. He did what he felt was best for his game, and I hope it works out for him.”

Bassett Comes For Raush’s ‘Dirty Gameplay’

In episode 8, Raush spoke to producers during his confessional interviews about his feud with Bassett.
He explained that during the episode, he planned to get Bassett as riled up as possible, hoping she’d act out of character to take the heat off him.
His plan was a move Bassett called “dirty gameplay.”
“I was really calm, and I recognized that there was an effort to try and rile me up,” she added.
So, now that Bassett is out of the game, who is the former Miss United States rooting for?
“Everybody but Rob,” she joked. “I’m rooting for the Faithfuls, obviously. As you saw when I was going out, I was doing my best to drop breadcrumbs for them, and I’m hoping they pick up one. Just pick up one breadcrumb, please.”
Fans Send Love To Bassett
Following Bassett’s departure, the official “Traitors” Instagram account shared a montage of her best moments, which garnered praise from viewers.
“She was playing so good!” someone wrote.
“Big main character energy! That’s my girl,” another shared.
“Main. Character. Energy. Like my good sis said!” a third posted.
“QUEEN!!!!!! Can’t wait for this gorgeous wordsmith to verbally clear Rob at the reunion and piss y’all off MORE!” a fourth added.
