10 Best Force Powers in Star Wars
In a galaxy far, far away, George Lucas envisioned a universe in which the battle of good and evil became a pop culture phenomenon. Perhaps the most beloved and devoted franchise in media, Star Wars has provided the world with some of the most incredible characters. We’ve become so enamored with the Jedis and Sith Lords because of the power they wield: the Force. A mysterious, metaphysical energy field created by all life that surrounds, penetrates, and binds everything in the universe together, the Force is not inherently good or evil, but it is channeled through two primary philosophical aspects: the Light Side and the Dark Side. It’s those approaches that create the epic battles in the galaxy.
There are only certain Force-sensitive individuals who can harness its power to gain supernatural abilities; quite an arsenal of Force powers, actually. For this list, we are going to examine the greatest Force powers at users’ disposal, going through some of the most iconic moments in which we saw them in action. They’re more than just a Force check or Jedi mind tricks, but in terms of cinema, they certainly make for some of the greatest moments in Star Wars history.
10
Force Spirit
For those who might need a little extra boost, they can often be visited by the galaxy version of a ghost: a Force spirit. The power is the preserved consciousness of a deceased Force-sensitive being. Unlike ordinary beings who dissolved into the Cosmic Force upon death, these individuals retained their memories, personalities, and forms to guide and mentor the living. This technique is exclusively tied to the light side of the Force, as it requires complete surrender of the ego and detachment from worldly powers.
The first modern Jedi to rediscover the ancient secret was Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson), who in turn passed his knowledge to Yoda (Frank Oz) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor). This legacy was passed down to help guide Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), who then learned to manifest as Force spirits to guide the next generation of Jedi. The most famous example occurred during the original trilogy in which Obi-Wan (Alec Guinness) guided Luke in the trench run of the Death Star, later returning to him on Dagobah and Endor.
9
Shatterpoint
One of the rarer Force abilities in the Star Wars universe is known as shatterpoint. This power allows its user to sense and exploit crucial weaknesses in objects, people, or events that can alter the outcome of a situation. Call it Jedi intuition. By applying this Force pressure to the focal points, its user can break otherwise indestructible elements and alter the course of fate. Its most prominent user is Jedi Master Mace Windu (Terrence C. Carson), whose powers were explored further in the Legends novel Shatterpoint by Matthew Stover.
As seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, he perceived that Count Dooku (Corey Burton) was a major shatterpoint of the Clone Wars. He sensed that if Dooku had been killed in the arena on Geonosis, the entire devastating galactic war might never have started. He was also able to sense the shatterpoints surrounding Anakin Skywalker (Matt Lanter), sensing that he would either doom the Jedi Order or save it. He also recognized that Supreme Chancellor Palpatine’s (Ian Abercrombie) shatterpoint was the chosen one, Anakin. Unfortunately, Mace Windu was killed before he could alter that fate.
8
Force Whisper
Perhaps the most famous power on this list is the Force Whisper, colloquially known as the Jedi Mind Trick. This power is a telepathic Force ability that allows its user to manipulate the thoughts, feelings, and actions of another sentient being without violence. It’s a persuasion technique frequently used to avoid conflict, bypass guards, interrogate subjects, or plant information. There are limitations, though. Species with highly independent minds are completely immune to the trick.
The very first time Star Wars fans would have witnessed Force whisper in action on film was Star Wars: Episode IV—A New Hope. Here, Obi-Wan Kenobi uses the technique on Imperial stormtroopers in Mos Eisley, famously waving his hand and stating, “These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.” Later, the mentor used the Force whisper to encourage Luke during his trench run. Obi-Wan Kenobi was notorious for this skill, as in Star Wars: Episode II— Attack of the Clones, the younger iteration of the character uses the mind trick on Elan Sleazebaggano (Matt Doran), a drug dealer attempting to sell him death sticks. Obi-Wan commands the dealer to stop his illicit trade by uttering, “You will go home and rethink your life.” In the sequel trilogy, Rey (Daisy Ridley) showcases her ability with it, using the mind trick on a First Order stormtrooper.
7
Force Vision
Force vision allows Force-sensitive individuals to perceive events in the past, present, or future. From vague premonitions to immersive, dreamlike states, this power is used by both Jedi and Sith to seek warnings, guidance, or hidden truths. Through Jedi teaching, it’s emphasized that the future is always in motion; thus, Force vision is a means to show only possible outcomes or paths. It’s also very subject to interpretation, as it can be influenced by the viewer’s emotions and fears.
One of the most prominent examples in the Skywalker Saga comes in Star Wars: Episode V—The Empire Strikes Back, in which Luke sees himself beneath Darth Vader’s (James Earl Jones) mask, serving as a warning of the dark path he might take should he give himself over to anger. In hindsight, this scene became even more valuable upon learning the origin of the iconic villain. For Anakin (Hayden Christensen), he’s plagued by a Force vision of his wife, Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman), dying in childbirth, which drives him to the dark side in desperation, ultimately becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. Perhaps Padmé might have died sooner had Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eickstein) not had a vision of her assassination, which allowed her to track her down and stop it in The Clone Wars.
6
Force Drain
Now, for something that the dark side loves to use: Force drain. This power allows its practitioner to siphon life essence and Force energy from living targets to heal, empower, or sustain themselves. Rather than drawing on the natural harmony of the Force, the Force-sensitive individual relies on parasitically feeding on the death and suffering of others. Force drain can manifest on different scales, including physically targeting their victim, draining at a distance, targeting multiple victims, and, at their absolute peak, some Sith Lords can consume the life force of entire planets.
The use of this power has extended throughout Star Wars lore across multiple platforms. In the video games The Old Republic and Knights of the Old Republic, the Sith Emperor Vitiate (Doug Bradley) performed the apocalyptic ritual on the planet Nathema while Darth Nihilus drained the entire Miraluka colony on the planet Katarr to sustain himself. Before that, in Tales of the Jedi comics, Exar Kun drained the energy of the entire Massassi species on Yavin 4 to trap his spirit inside his temple for millennia. In Star Wars: Episode IX—The Rise of Skywalker, Darth Sidious (Ian McDiarmid) notoriously drains the life force and Force Dyad energy from Rey and Ben Solo (Adam Driver), allowing him to rejuvenate his frail body to an immense state of power.
5
Telekinesis
Perhaps the other most infamous Force power is telekinesis, though casual fans liken it to the Force choke. Though that’s one ability under the telekinesis umbrella, we’re going to lump all its power into one. This ability authorizes its user to manipulate matter with the mind using the Force. It is one of the most fundamental, versatile, and frequently used Force powers by both sides. The power can range from a saber throw, which can guide a lightsaber through the air, to a Force barrier, in which a concentrated shield of kinetic energy is formed to deflect projectiles.
The scale of this power varies drastically depending on the user’s skill, focus, and training. An average Patawan might be able to lift a small rock or retrieve a lightsaber, while legendary Force users might be able to rip starships out of the sky. And right in the middle is Darth Vader choking the life out of those who cross him. In the franchise’s canon, telekinesis is seen quite often. In The Empire Strikes Back, Yoda famously demonstrates the power by telekinetically lifting Luke’s sunken X-wing from the swampy waters of Dagobah. In Star Wars: Episode VIII—The Last Jedi, Rey and Kylo Ren use telekinesis to simultaneously pull on the Skywalker lightsaber. Needless to say, the range of this power is vast and quite useful.
4
Force Lightning
One of the more visually iconic and recognizable powers is known as Force Lightning. This destructive ability allows a Force-user to shoot crackling arcs of electrical energy from their fingertips. It is predominantly a dark side ability as it is fueled by negative emotions, hatred, anger, and malice. Its power can inflict excruciating pain and is used to torture or kill. Light side Force-users have been known to manifest a variant of the energy projection, even being able to block it with their lightsaber or neutralize the electrical energy via tutaminis or Force absorption.
Force lighting is a signature weapon of the Sith. In Return of the Jedi, Emperor Palpatine used it to torture Luke. Count Dooku frequently used his blue lighting to incapacitate Obi-Wan and Anakin during his duels in Attack of the Clones and The Clone Wars. Mother Talzin (Barbara Goodson), leader of the Nightsisters, used a greenish, magical variation, drawing on the energy of Dathomir rather than raw Sith hatred. The Son (Sam Witwer), the physical manifestation of the dark side realm of Mortis, wields an incredibly powerful red force lighting.
3
Force Healing
Now, for something for the light side: Force healing. In the Star Wars realm, Force healing is a rare and powerful ability that allows its user to mend injuries, cure poisons, and save lives by transferring their vital life energy into a wounded target. Depending on the severity of what needs healing, the selfless act often physically weakens the practitioner. That said, they can often recover their strength through rest and meditation.
The evolution of this lore was brought into the mainstream Star Wars on two massive occasions. In Rise of Skywalker, Rey heals a wounded Vexis in the desert and later channels the energy to heal Kylo Ren after impaling him with his lightsaber. Not to be outdone, their Force dyad came in when Ben Solo gave his remaining life force to resurrect Rey after she perishes, defeating Darth Sidious. The more adorable iteration of the power came in The Mandalorian at the hands of Grogu, who used his ability to heal Greef Karga’s (Carl Weathers) fatal, venomous wound. Star Wars fans have debated why characters like Obi-Wan or Anakin didn’t use this power to save their loved ones in earlier stories.
2
Force Storm
An extension of Force lighting is the even more powerful Force storm. This incredibly destructive, volatile ability combines deep dark side energy, Force lighting, and complex rituals to manipulate space and weather. It’s a cataclysmic ability that can even rip holes in space-time. It’s not a power that any ordinary Force-sensitive individual can conjure, though it has been seen throughout the Star Wars universe, including the Legends expanded universe and via the games.
The most vibrant occasion came at the hands of Emperor Palpatine. In the Dark Empire comic series, Palpatine uses his anger to conjure titanic storms, even reaching thousands of light-years from his fortress world of Byss to Coruscant. The galactic devastation scorched planetary surfaces and opened wormholes across the galaxy. His usage expanded in The Rise of Skywalker as he conjured a localized storm, marking its sole movie appearance. Another prime example is Bendu (Tom Baker), an enigmatic, neutral Force entity who summons a hurricane-force wind and lightning over the planet Atollon to attack both Imperial and Rebel forces in Star Wars Rebels.
1
Midi-Chlorian Manipulation
It’s one thing to shape a battle; it’s another to shape the entire future and history — that’s the overwhelming power of midi-chlorian manipulation. The profound and dangerous ability directly influences microscopic, intelligent life forms within the cells of living beings. By communicating with or altering these organisms, the user can heal the sick, drain the Force energy from others, and, most importantly, create life itself. It’s the latter that became Star Wars‘ most famous application. The lore behind midi-chlorians acts as a bridge between the physical self and the cosmic Force. A higher concentration per cell allows an individual to channel the Force better than others.
The concept came to fruition when the Sith Lord Darth Plagueis conducted extensive experiments to create new life. It is said that it was the catalyst for Anakin Skywalker’s immaculate conception by the Force. Plagueis sought eternal life by coaxing midi-chlorians to cheat mortality. The Force fought back against his unnatural experiments, which caused the attempt to alter the galactic balance to conceive Anakin as the Chosen One. There are some who believe this power is useless or futile, but in the grander picture of the Skywalker Saga, it’s a crucial plot point that shaped the story.

Band of Brothers Actor Iain Robertson Found Guilty of Rape
Band of Brothers actor Iain Robertson has been found guilty of rape following a trial in Scotland.
Robertson, 45, was convicted Tuesday, June 23, on five offenses, including rape and domestic abuse, against three women between 2004 and 2019, reported the BBC.
The Scottish actor appeared in HBO’s acclaimed Band of Brothers and is best known for playing Stevie O’Hara in the BBC soap opera River City.
A jury at the High Court in Glasgow heard how Robertson allegedly raped a woman whom he met on the set of River City sometime between 2018 and 2019.
The woman testified that she did not want a romantic relationship with the actor but that they did become intimate at one point. She later told Robertson that she wanted to return to a platonic relationship, per the BBC.
“It was a long back and forth. Iain was convinced I was in denial about having feelings for him and in denial about what I wanted,” she said. “I do not think he believed me.”
The woman added that she felt her “boundaries were being ignored.”
She said she was sexually assaulted after staying at Robertson’s home in Glasgow. The woman claimed she planned to sleep on the sofa, but that the actor said she could join him in his bed and “nothing would happen.”
The woman said that Robertson then “had sex” with her. “I was lying down, I was very limp and he went on top of me,” she described the incident, which she said was nonconsensual.
Another woman testified that the actor “lunged” at her during an argument in 2014, reported the BBC. She said, “I thought he was going to hit me.”
Robertson was convicted of assault in connection with the second woman but cleared a second charge.
The woman, who is also an actor, said Robertson called her and left voicemails in an “obsessive” manner and sent snack boxes to theaters at which she was performing.
Giving evidence earlier in the trial, Robertson said he was “no angel” but denied all of the charges against him.
“I am aware to know if the person is not as present as I am in what we are doing,” he said of the rape allegation. “I am sensitive enough to be aware there are non-verbal ways to communicate.”
“It would be something I would not participate in at all,” he added.
Robertson is due to be sentenced on July 23.

Yes, the formula cleanses the scalp like a traditional shampoo, but it also helps hair appear thicker, stronger and more voluminous, all while maximizing the effectiveness of your haircare routine.
The shampoo contains rosemary, which helps create an optimal environment for healthy-looking hair growth, plus PDRN, an ingredient known for its restorative properties. Beyond its scalp-first ingredients, this shampoo is formulated to create the appearance of thicker hair immediately by removing excess oil, product buildup and impurities that typically weigh strands down. This allows hair to feel lighter and appear more lifted at the roots, resulting in hair that’s fuller, bouncier and more voluminous without feeling coated or heavy.
For those with thinning hair, that added body can make a significant difference in styling as well. By giving hair a cleaner foundation and enhancing root lift, this shampoo helps create the illusion of greater density, making ponytails, blowouts and everyday styles appear fuller.
One Amazon shopper with fine hair said that it not only made hair feel “clean, light and noticeably more bouncy,” but that it “boosts volume and freshness without sacrificing moisture.”
If you’re looking to give fine or thinning hair a boost, the Medicube Rosemary PDRN Clarifying Thickening Shampoo is worth adding to your shower routine.

Leslie Jones Details ‘Frustrating’ ‘SNL’ Experience
Comedian and actress Leslie Jones joined NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” in 2014 before leaving five years later in 2019. Now, years after her exit, the “Ghostbusters” star is reflecting on her experience with the show, revealing that she found the sketches she appeared in to be frustratingly stereotypical.
Her latest comments come after the 58-year-old said the long-running series turned her into a caricature.

Jones appeared on “The Sam Sanders Show” in June 2026. While on the show, the topic of her five-year run on “Saturday Night Live” arose, with her calling the experience “bittersweet,” stating that she felt typecast by the show’s writers, while also understanding that one of the hallmarks of the show is that they “make you a character of yourself.”
According to her, “It was kind of frustrating that they would always make me the girl that was angry and beating up people or in love with a white boy. They just always would make me angry or I’m fighting somebody.”
Regarding why she agreed to take part in the skits, she found problematic, Jones said, “I wanted to be on the show. And at the time, I didn’t think that [typecasting] was what was happening till it kept happening. And then, like, every time I would get a sketch, I was like, ‘Okay, who am I beating up this week?’”
Leslie Still Values Her Time On ‘Saturday Night Live’

The “SNL” alum continued to recall her time on the show, admitting that being typecast by the writers hasn’t fully tainted her experience. She revealed, “I loved being there. It was great, it was fun, but I don’t miss the mental part of it.”
Later in the interview, the host asked Jones if, based on her experience, she felt “Saturday Night Live” was “a good place” for black comedians. She responded, “I think that it is the machine that it is.”
‘SNL’ Fans Are Reacting To What Jones Said About The Show

Following Jones’ comments on “The Sam Sanders Show,” fans are reacting on social media. For the most part, they understand her feelings, but many think that her comedy outside of “Saturday Night Live” is similar to what she delivered on the series.
One person said, “…have you seen her standup? She writes herself like that.” Someone else wrote, “What a narcissist. Chris Farley was always the fat, dim-witted guy, and he never openly complained.”
A different “SNL” fan stated, “Then how about do what every other successful person on SNL did. Write your own stuff and pitch it.”
In support of the “Ghostbusters” actress, one social media user said, “Leslie Jones is my favorite and so wonderful in any Avenue acting comes to her. Even rocked the hell out of revived TV show Supermarket Sweep. Wish there were more seasons. So fun. Love her!”
After that, someone recalled one of her skits, saying, “It was hilarious when she kept calling Peter Dinklage his ‘Game of Thrones’ name, Tyrion, in the ‘Naked & Afraid’ sketch. But she’s one of those ‘a little goes a long way’ chicks.”

Jones interviewed with NPR in 2023. When asked about her time on “Saturday Night Live,” she expressed sentiments similar to her most recent comments. According to her, “I’ve been doing comedy so long, it’s like, I know what I am.”
She continued, “At ‘SNL,’ they take that one thing, and they wring it. They wring it because that’s the machine. So whatever it is that I’m giving that they’re so happy about, they feel like it’s got to be that all the time, or something like that.”
After that, she went into more detail about her time on the show, saying, “So it was, like, a caricature of myself, you know what I’m saying? So it was like, now either I’m trying to love on the white boys or beat up on the white boys, or I’m doing something just, like, loud. I knew once I did these things, though—I knew it was going to happen, because I know the power of them.”
Still, she acknowledged that this was the nature of the show and wasn’t unique to her. During the interview, she used former “SNL” cast member Taran Killam as an example, noting, “Taran wanted to do so much other stuff, but they would only have Taran in those very masculine [roles] and singing and stuff.”
Leslie Jones Is Going On Tour

According to her official website, Jones is embarking on the “I’m Hot Tour,” with dates beginning on July 4 in California and going until November of this year in Florida. That’s not all, as the “Saturday Night Live” alum is also hosting a new HGTV series, “Roast My Rental,” premiering July 24.
The series will feature the Emmy-nominated comedian “roasting” short-term rentals.

Ghostbusters: Night Shift Reveals First Look as Netflix Brings the Franchise Back to the ’90s : Coastal House Media
Who ya gonna call? Apparently, a brand-new team of Ghostbusters.
Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation have officially unveiled the first details for Ghostbusters: Night Shift, an all-new animated series set within the beloved supernatural franchise. Alongside the announcement came the first concept art, a logo reveal, and an official story synopsis that teases a fresh generation of paranormal heroes.
Set in New York City in 1994, the series takes place five years after the events of Ghostbusters II, when the original team famously brought the Statue of Liberty to life to save the city. But while that battle may have ended, a new supernatural threat is just beginning.
According to the official logline:
“A new wave of supernatural terror hits the Big Apple, forcing a group of scrappy, young New Yorkers — untrained, underappreciated, and kinda sorta responsible for the problem — to put on proton packs, face their fears, and bust some ghosts.”
The newly released concept art hints at a darker and more cinematic tone than previous animated entries. One image showcases a massive fiery ghost towering over a lone figure inside an industrial building, while another depicts eerie creatures roaming the streets of New York beneath an orange sunset sky.
The series is being executive produced by Jason Reitman, Gil Kenan, Ben Hibon, Elliott Kalan, Amie Karp, and original Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd. Reitman and Kenan previously collaborated on Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, helping usher the franchise into a new era while honoring its roots.

Fans have been eager for more animated Ghostbusters adventures ever since The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters aired decades ago. Early reactions online have praised the title Night Shift and the moody art direction, with many hoping the series embraces a slightly darker tone while maintaining the humor the franchise is known for.
Netflix has confirmed that Ghostbusters: Night Shift will premiere exclusively on the streaming service in 2027.
With a 1990s setting, a new generation of ghost hunters, and the backing of several key figures behind the recent films, Ghostbusters: Night Shift may be the franchise’s most exciting animated revival yet.
What do you think of the first look at Ghostbusters: Night Shift? Are you excited to return to the world of Ghostbusters?

Taylor Swift Sends Fans Wild With Surprise Performance
Just when fans thought Tight End University was all about football, Taylor Swift turned the annual NFL gathering into one of the most talked-about celebrity moments of the summer.
The pop superstar shocked attendees with a surprise performance in Nashville, but it was one subtle gesture that truly sent the crowd into a frenzy.
As wedding speculation continues to swirl around Swift and fiancé Travis Kelce, the singer appeared more than happy to give fans something new to talk about.
Taylor Swift delighted fans on Tuesday night when she unexpectedly appeared during the Tight Ends and Friends concert in Nashville.
The event, held as part of Kelce’s annual Tight End University summit, already featured a star-studded lineup, but the singer’s arrival quickly became the highlight of the evening.
Swift joined country music star Lainey Wilson on stage for a performance of her 2008 hit “Love Story,” sending the crowd into a frenzy.
A video shared by a fan account on X showed the 36-year-old wearing a strapless, form-fitting black midi dress with a silver fringed asymmetrical hemline as she confidently strode onto the stage at The Pinnacle near the end of the concert.
Swift Sends Fans Into A Frenzy With Ring Moment

While the performance itself generated excitement, it was one specific moment that stole the spotlight.
During the bridge of “Love Story,” Taylor Swift reached the famous lyric, “He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring.”
As she sang the line, she smirked at the crowd before raising her left hand and showing off her dazzling engagement ring.
The reaction was immediate. Despite the football-heavy audience, fans erupted with what was described as a suspiciously high-pitched squeal as the pop star wiggled her adorned ring finger in the air.
The gesture fueled even more excitement surrounding her upcoming wedding to Kelce. Swift also shared a sweet embrace with Wilson before addressing the crowd.
Taylor Swift Reveals The NFL Star Behind Her Song Choice
The performance wasn’t entirely spontaneous. According to the “Shake It Off” singer, there was a very specific reason she chose to perform “Love Story.”
Addressing the audience, Swift explained that the song had been requested by one of the NFL’s most recognizable tight ends.
“This was a very special request from a very special tight end,” Swift told fans per the Daily Mail, adding, “He wanted to hear this particular song and that tight end … is named George Kittle.”
Kittle, who co-founded Tight End University alongside Kelce and Greg Olsen, is reportedly a longtime fan of the song.
Kelce, meanwhile, was likely watching from the crowd as his fiancée performed. The Kansas City Chiefs star has helped host the three-day summit for five years, bringing together tight ends from across the NFL and other levels of football for film study, training sessions, networking opportunities, and social events.
Swift Brings Star Power To Nashville’s Biggest NFL Event

Taylor Swift’s performance capped off a busy few days at Tight End University. The night before, she joined her man on the red carpet for the summit’s opening event in Nashville.
The star turned heads in a pale yellow floral jacquard mini dress from Lola Dre, pairing the look with buttercream-colored Aquazzura heels. She posed alongside Kelce and mingled with other attendees.
Travis Kelce admitted he was overwhelmed by the excitement surrounding the event, joking that he had “blacked out” while welcoming guests to the opening festivities.
The summit continues to attract some of the NFL’s biggest names and their partners.

Swift’s Nashville appearance comes during what appears to be an incredibly busy period leading up to her wedding.
Over the weekend, activity was reportedly buzzing at her Rhode Island estate, where she is said to have hosted a lavish bachelorette-style gathering for friends.
Her longtime friend Abigail Anderson was reportedly among those spotted at the oceanfront property, alongside several other guests.
Security presence around the compound became noticeable last Wednesday, with women dressed in black and white seen on rooftop balconies.
Meanwhile, plans for Swift and Kelce’s wedding continue to generate headlines. The couple is reportedly preparing for a massive reception at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, with around 1,000 guests expected to attend.
Potential attendees are rumored to include Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne, Zoë Kravitz, Ed Sheeran, Suki Waterhouse, Robert Pattinson, and sisters Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim.
