Wednesday’s Workwear Report: Crescent Knot Dress
This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
This dress from Universal Standard is what I want to live in from June through September. The short sleeves and light fabric keep things cool, but the tie belt still gives me a little bit of a shape. If you work in an office where more than 50% of the people are wearing suits on any given day, this might be a little too casual, but I think it would be totally acceptable in most of the offices I’ve been spending time in lately.
I would wear this with the Mary Janes from Rothy’s that seem to be my go-to shoe for every occasion this season.
The dress is $148 at Universal Standard and comes in sizes equivalent to 00-40. It’s also available in nine other stripes and solids.

Sterling Silver Engagement Rings and Fantasy Jewelry

Many people assume an engagement ring must use expensive metals to look elegant. That is not always true. Sterling silver offers a bright appearance that closely resembles white gold and platinum. Its clean finish makes it a favorite choice for couples seeking beauty and practicality.
Modern jewelry designers have expanded the possibilities of sterling silver. Today, buyers can find everything from classic solitaire rings to detailed fantasy inspired jewelry designs. This variety allows shoppers to choose a ring that reflects their personality while maintaining a refined appearance.
What Makes Sterling Silver a Popular Choice
Sterling silver contains a high percentage of pure silver combined with other metals for strength. This balance helps create jewelry that is attractive and suitable for regular wear. The material also works well with many gemstone styles and settings.
Its versatility appeals to a wide audience. Whether someone prefers minimalist rings or decorative pieces, sterling silver can support many design directions. That flexibility continues to attract engagement ring buyers.
Top Features That Make Sterling Silver Engagement Rings Look Premium
One reason sterling silver engagement rings remain popular is their bright and polished appearance. The metal reflects light well and creates a sophisticated look. When paired with quality craftsmanship, sterling silver can appear far more expensive than many people expect.
Design details also play a major role. Fine settings, balanced proportions, and carefully selected stones contribute to an elevated appearance. Small details often create the biggest visual impact.
Stone Selection Matters
The gemstone can influence the overall look of the ring. Clear stones, colored gemstones, and nature inspired gems each create a different effect. Choosing the right stone helps create a ring that feels personal.
Many buyers prefer gemstones that add character without overwhelming the design. Sterling silver provides an excellent backdrop for both subtle and bold choices.
Best Ring Styles for a Luxurious Appearance
Classic solitaire rings remain a timeless option. Their simple structure allows the center stone to receive full attention. This style works particularly well for people who prefer clean and elegant jewelry.
Halo settings are another popular choice. Surrounding the center stone with smaller stones creates additional sparkle and visual presence. This design can make a ring appear more elaborate while maintaining balance.
Vintage Inspired Designs
Vintage inspired rings continue attracting attention because of their detailed craftsmanship. Engraved patterns and decorative settings add character to the design. These features create a sense of individuality.
Sterling silver complements vintage aesthetics particularly well. The bright finish highlights intricate details and decorative elements.
Top Fantasy Inspired Jewelry Trends in Engagement Rings
Fantasy inspired jewelry has become increasingly popular among buyers looking for something distinctive. Many designs draw inspiration from nature, mythology, celestial themes, and storybook imagery. These influences help create engagement rings that feel personal and memorable.
Leaf motifs, moon details, and flowing patterns are common examples. Such elements provide artistic appeal without sacrificing elegance. Many couples appreciate jewelry that tells a story through design.
Nature Inspired Details
Nature remains one of the strongest influences in fantasy themed jewelry. Designs featuring vines, branches, flowers, and forest inspired patterns create a unique visual identity. These details often feel romantic and timeless.
When crafted in sterling silver, natural motifs become even more noticeable. The metal’s reflective surface helps showcase fine artistic details.
Best Gemstones for Sterling Silver Engagement Rings
Certain gemstones pair exceptionally well with sterling silver. Moissanite, sapphire, moss agate, moonstone, and clear quartz are frequently chosen for engagement rings. Each stone offers a different visual effect.
Some buyers prefer brilliant sparkle, while others value unique patterns and colors. Sterling silver supports a wide variety of gemstone choices without overpowering them.
Colored Stones Create Character
Colored gemstones allow couples to move beyond traditional options. Blue, green, and white stones can each create a distinctive look. These colors often stand out beautifully against the silver setting.
The result is a ring that feels personal rather than conventional. Many people appreciate having something that reflects their individual taste.
Top Factors to Consider Before Buying
Ring design is important, but comfort should not be overlooked. A ring should feel secure and pleasant to wear throughout the day. Features such as band width and setting height can affect comfort.
Craftsmanship also deserves close attention. Well made rings typically have smooth finishes, secure settings, and balanced construction. These details contribute to both appearance and wearability.
Think About Lifestyle
Daily activities should influence ring selection. People with active lifestyles may prefer lower profile settings that reduce the chance of accidental contact. Practical choices often help preserve the ring’s appearance.
Considering long term wear helps buyers make informed decisions. A ring should fit both personal style and everyday habits.
Best Ways to Maintain Sterling Silver Jewelry
Like many precious metals, sterling silver benefits from regular care. Gentle cleaning helps remove oils and residue that accumulate through normal wear. A soft cloth and mild cleaning methods are usually sufficient.
Proper storage also plays an important role. Keeping jewelry in a dry environment can help maintain its appearance. Simple care routines often keep rings looking attractive for a long time.
Avoid Common Mistakes
Many people expose jewelry to harsh chemicals without realizing the effects. Household cleaners, swimming pools, and certain beauty products can affect metal finishes. Removing rings during these activities can be beneficial.
Routine inspections are also useful. Checking settings occasionally helps ensure gemstones remain secure.
Why Many Couples Choose Sterling Silver Today
Engagement rings represent personal commitment and individual style. Many couples now focus on meaningful design rather than traditional expectations. Sterling silver supports this shift by offering flexibility and beauty.
The metal works equally well with classic and artistic designs. Whether someone prefers simple elegance or fantasy inspired jewelry, sterling silver provides a strong foundation. Its adaptability continues to make it a preferred option among modern buyers.
Finding a Ring That Feels Personal
The best engagement ring is one that reflects the people wearing it. Design, gemstone choice, and symbolic details all contribute to that connection. Personal meaning often matters more than trends.
Taking time to explore different styles can lead to a more satisfying choice. A carefully selected ring becomes part of a lasting story.

The Absolute Best Luxury Statement Pieces to Elevate Your Seasonal Wardrobe
Seasonal wardrobe shifts have a way of exposing what’s actually working in a closet and what’s been coasting on habit. The pieces that carry a wardrobe through a genuine transition — not just a swap of heavy fabric for light, but an actual shift in mood and palette — tend to be the accessories rather than the garments themselves. Clothing sets the foundation. Jewelry decides whether that foundation reads as considered or default.
Statement pieces earn their place in that equation more than any other accessory category, precisely because they’re not subtle. A statement piece is supposed to be noticed, which means choosing one well requires more deliberation than choosing something that’s meant to blend in. The pieces that genuinely elevate a seasonal wardrobe share certain qualities regardless of the specific season — versatility across the looks already in rotation, a quality of craftsmanship that holds up to close inspection, and a level of presence that adds rather than overwhelms.

Why Earrings Function as the Most Versatile Statement Category
Necklaces compete with necklines. Bracelets compete with sleeve length. Rings, worn well, are subtle enough that they rarely qualify as statement pieces in the way the category typically means. Earrings occupy a different position — visible regardless of what’s being worn below the collar, framing the face in a way that draws attention without requiring coordination with the rest of an outfit’s silhouette.
That positional advantage is part of why earrings have become the default statement category for people building a versatile seasonal wardrobe around a smaller number of genuinely excellent pieces rather than a large collection of trend-driven options. A single exceptional pair can move from a daytime look to an evening one, can anchor a minimal outfit or complement a more elaborate one, without the styling constraints that other jewelry categories carry.
The Case for Pearls as the Seasonal Anchor
Among the materials available for statement earrings, pearls occupy a particular position — sophisticated enough to function as serious jewelry, versatile enough to move across seasons without feeling locked to any single aesthetic moment. Real pearl earrings carry a quality of light that responds differently depending on the season’s palette: warm against autumn’s ambers and browns, crisp against winter’s whites and blacks, luminous against spring’s pastels, cooling against summer’s brightness.
That adaptability is structural rather than stylistic. The pearl’s surface produces a specific kind of luminosity — soft, layered, responsive to the light around it — that works with an unusually wide range of color palettes without clashing or disappearing. Few jewelry materials offer that range of seasonal compatibility in a single piece, which is part of why a genuinely good pair of pearl earrings tends to get more wear across a wardrobe’s full seasonal rotation than most other statement options.
Scale and the Statement Threshold
Not every pearl earring qualifies as a statement piece — the classic small stud sits comfortably in the subtle category. What pushes a pearl earring into statement territory is typically scale, asymmetry, or combination with other materials that add visual complexity. Larger baroque pearls, dramatic drop styles, pearls paired with gold architecture or gemstone accents — these design choices create the presence that statement jewelry requires while retaining the material quality that makes pearls a sound long-term investment.
The scale decision matters practically as well as aesthetically. A statement earring needs enough presence to read clearly from a normal conversational distance without becoming uncomfortable or impractical to wear for the length of time a real outfit requires. The best designs in this category solve that balance through construction — lightweight settings, secure but comfortable closures — rather than simply scaling up a smaller design without adjusting for wearability.
Building a Wardrobe Around Fewer, Better Pieces
The broader argument for investing in a small number of genuinely excellent statement pieces rather than a larger collection of lower-quality options applies with particular force to seasonal wardrobe planning. A single exceptional pair of earrings that moves credibly across multiple seasons and multiple types of occasions delivers more actual wardrobe value than several less considered pieces that each work in only narrow circumstances.
This isn’t only an aesthetic argument. It’s also the more financially sound approach over a meaningful time horizon — quality materials and construction that hold their condition across years of wear, versus pieces that need replacing as soon as wear becomes visible or trends move on.

The Pieces That Actually Earn Their Place
The statement jewelry that genuinely elevates a seasonal wardrobe isn’t necessarily the most dramatic option available. It’s the piece that does real work across the widest range of circumstances a wardrobe will actually encounter — different occasions, different seasons, different moods within a single closet. That combination of presence and versatility is rarer than pure drama, which is exactly why it’s worth prioritizing when building toward a smaller, more considered collection of pieces that actually get worn.

Thursday’s Workwear Report: Cotton-Viscose Short-Sleeve Sweater
This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
This short-sleeved cardigan from Lands’ End would make a great topper for days when you want to cover your arms a bit, but it’s just too hot for long sleeves. I would pair the light blue stripes with a shell in a similar color and some navy trousers for a perfectly summery look. It also comes in a really pretty “raspberry sorbet” if you’d like another color.
The sweater is on sale for $28.79 (marked down from $79.95) at Lands’ End and comes in sizes XS-XL and 1X-3X.

Golden Hour Hues Meet Special Finishes
OUTFIT DETAILS: Khaite Shirt, Alemais Top, Markarian Skirt (similar here), Chanel Heels, Valentino Bag, Sherman Field & Arielle Ratner Necklaces
There are certain color palettes I find myself almost subconsciously drawn to when summer is in full swing. Citrus, green, coral, gold, and lime all have a sun-worn feeling, but what really brings them to life is texture, shine, and movement.
The colors already have warmth, but the organza, sequins, beads, and glossy finishes give them movement once the light changes. A coral skirt suddenly feels more evening, a yellow top has a little more glow, and even the smallest accessory can make the whole look feel like it belongs somewhere fun.
Together, it feels like a richer way to wear color. Not just bright for the sake of it, but color with texture, depth, and the kind of finish that shifts once the light does.

Suit of the Week: Boden
This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional. Also: we just updated our big roundup for the best women’s suits of 2026!
This gingham suit from Boden seems so fun — and it’s on a big discount as part of Boden’s summer sale. While they definitely make an impact when worn together, I think they’d be just as wearable as separates, worn either with a neutral or one of the many colors in the print.
Maybe it’s just me, but I think the blazer when worn with a neutral top and bottom could be a fun opportunity to mix patterns — try adding a floral scarf, for example.
The blazer was $299, but is now marked to $149 and still available in sizes 2-18; the pants were $220 and are now marked to $154 and available in most regular and long sizes.
Looking for something similar? Ann Taylor has a lot of gingham blazers right now.

When Can You Use Your Emergency Fund?
This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

When have you used your emergency fund? Do you dip into it often, or for you is it truly just a “break in case of emergency” kind of situation? If you have a lot more than you would need in non-retirement investments, do you feel like you even need a separate emergency fund?
We’ve talked about where to keep your emergency fund a number of times over the years (and it’s the first step in our general “roadmap” for personal finance), as well as how to calculate your e-fund.
Over the years, I’ve dipped into our emergency fund for things like unexpected tax bills, including a memorable one when we had just moved into a different tax bracket. Every single time that we’ve had to I’ve felt extreme guilt about it.
I don’ t think I’m alone in this, either — a lot of people seem to have no trouble saving an emergency fund, but a much harder time spending it. After years of treating the account as untouchable, it can feel wrong to withdraw money even when the situation is exactly the kind of thing the fund was created to handle.
So let’s discuss:
- What do you consider a legitimate emergency?
- Have you ever used your emergency fund, and if so, for what?
- Do you keep separate funds for job loss, home repairs, medical expenses, and other unexpected costs?
- Have you ever regretted using (or not using) your emergency fund?
- Do you view your emergency fund primarily as protection against disaster, or as a source of flexibility and freedom?
