I bought the Kamrui for 374 on amazon (sale it was 750)
AMD Ryzen 7 5700u with Radeon Graphics, 16gs of RAM 1.80gz.

This little dude has run MOST of what I've thrown at it. Elden Ring runs at max, all Metal Gear even Metal Gear V and ground zero also tried Remnant 2 and its just beautiful. I'm itching to try Red Dead Redemption 2, the flaw with this model is just 500 gigs of memory. I'm contemplating taking my laptops memory and wiping it and putting the card in because you can just slide the panel off and put anything under the hood.

I bought a mini pc for replacing my mobile laptop. I never use my laptop keyboard, I never use it in my lap , I use dual monitors and I always use an external keyboard and mouse. Plus I never use it without electricity. That is why I thought a mini PC would work. My laptop bag has become too heavy. The only drawback that I had was the fact that I did not do my homework thoroughly. Mainly do the fact that I really didn’t know enough to make a wise decision. Overall I found a workaround. The problem turned out to be that I did not look or read the specs close enough, nor did I understand laptop ports well enough. So my purchase was actually my fault. The fact that I already had portable flatscreen lightweight monitors. I use more than one monitor also with my laptop. So the problem was, I did not know that the data ports on my chosen mini PC did not support electric and data in the same cable. The brand that I bought was a Beelink SEC6 and quite happy with it. My workaround is I bought a flip two screen portable monitor that has an external adapter for the wall outlet. The monitor is battery charged. Because I have some peripherals and I like to charge my Kindle and phone at the same time I bought a hub to go along with it. I would’ve bought this hub anyway for use with my laptop. So I’m in the process of waiting for my monitors to show up. I checked with a computer repair shop that specializes in hardware before I bought my monitors. they said my workaround should work. I will have less wires than when I use my laptop so if it works, I’ll be very happy. The mini PC I have tried on a regular monitor and it works very well. It doesn’t seem to run hot . I don’t game I use it for programming, educational videos off the Internet, email predominantly and a little web surfing so all in all I’m happy with my Beelink PC but I’m not a heavy gamer. I am waiting for a little 40 mm fan to show up. I wanted a fan that mini PC sits on top of but the exhaust fan is actually on the bottom of the PC so I bought a little fan that will be used at the side of the mini PC for where the vents are for the air intake. I don’t think for the type of use that I am going to be doing that. I really need a fan. The PC seems to be running for the most part without a fan, but I’m always cautious about heat and electronics. I even have my laptop that really doesn’t run hot on a cooling pad. I was always told that the worst enemy of electronics that contribute to its rapid decline and aging is actually heat. So i have always tried to keep my computers cool. And doing so it seems that I have extended life of my electronics. I even have a fan constantly running on my home desktop. But I constantly keep my desktop on. it seems to be happy… Lol

Can't really put Apple Mac mini in the same category as the rest because you can't install a windows. Is not a peer-to-peer comparison. I know MacOS runs more efficiently than WinOS, but it doesn't really project Mac Mini as more superior than others.. unless all runs on the same platform.

New Home Backup Server (Dell T640 with 18 20TB Disks)

In this video I create a new backup server from a Dell EMC PowerEdge T640 with 18x 20TB Seagate Exos refurbished drives. Also there’s some more ranting about backups in general. But idk, there are chapters so you can skip to whatever. And it’s not technically a server, in that it doesn’t serve files. It’s really more of a client that takes files from other servers and holds onto them. But I call it a backup server because hardware-wise it’s a server. Anywho, that’s the description. It’s probably not optimal for the YouTube algorithm, but hey, I’m not an influencer even though I have a TikTok account that I don’t use.

The Man Who Revolutionized Computer Science With Math

The Man Who Revolutionized Computer Science With Math

Leslie Lamport revolutionized how computers talk to each other. The Turing Award-winning computer scientist pioneered the field of distributed systems, where multiple components on different networks coordinate to achieve a common objective. (Internet searches, cloud computing and artificial intelligence all involve orchestrating legions of powerful computing machines to work together.) In the early 1980s, Lamport also created LaTeX, a document preparation system that provides sophisticated ways to typeset complex formulas and format scientific documents. In 1989, Lamport invented Paxos, a “consensus algorithm” that allows multiple computers to execute complex tasks; without it, modern computing could not exist. He’s also brought more attention to a handful of problems, giving them distinctive names like the bakery algorithm and the Byzantine Generals Problem. Lamport’s work since the 1990s has focused on “formal verification,” the use of mathematical proofs to verify the correctness of software and hardware systems. Notably, he created a “specification language” called TLA+ (for Temporal Logic of Actions), which employs the precise language of mathematics to prevent bugs and avoid design flaws.
