Amy Adams Saved a Stabbing Victim Thanks to Medical TV Role
Amy Adams learned some valuable life skills after playing a nurse on a short-lived TV show.
During an appearance on the “SmartLess” podcast on Monday, June 22, the Oscar nominee revealed how she sprang into action after coming across a stabbing victim while out with her family.
Adams, 51, knew just what to do after playing nurse Alice Doherty in CBS’ Dr. Vegas, which starred Rob Lowe and aired for just five episodes in 2004. To prepare for the role, the actress said she shadowed an emergency room doctor.
“I’ve come across a couple of scenes where we’ve been sort of the first people on the scene,” she said. “We were in Santa Monica and coming out of our favorite restaurant and I was with my dad and these people were screaming and a guy was walking and they’re yelling, ‘He’s dying!’ and my husband’s like, ‘That’s blood.’”
After directing her husband, Darren Le Gallo, to stay put with their daughter Aviana, 16, Adams and her dad rushed to the man’s aid.
“We ran over, and he’d been stabbed in the neck,” the Enchanted actress recalled. “So he was bleeding and his friends were freaking out. So luckily we were going to the beach. We grabbed towels. My dad has been on lots of scenes — I guess he attracts them as well — and applied pressure.”
“And I’m sitting there somehow going, ‘You need to calm your pulse rate. Take a deep breath in.’ I literally was just so focused. I was like, ‘The more you struggle, the faster you’re going to bleed. Just lay down. Let’s elevate this,’” she continued.
As for how the man ended up wounded, Adams said, “I mean, as far as I could make out, they had run into an old college friend and had some drinks and then went to the liquor store. They were going to go back to someone’s house, and he just freaked out. I don’t know kind of what the whole story is.”
A year after her heroic efforts, the Man of Steel actor said she ran into the person she saved.
“A guy walks up to me in the restaurant. He’s like, ‘I heard a story that you and your dad were on the scene of a guy getting stabbed,’” she remembered. “And I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah, that’s so funny you heard that story.’”
The man then showed Adams the scar on his neck.
“And I was like, ‘Oh my god, it’s you.’ And it was him, and he was like all teary, and he had his son with him. It was so crazy,” the actress said.

Sci-Fi Action Blockbuster Classic On Netflix Still Blows Our Minds Almost 30 Years Later
By Chris Snellgrove
| Published

It’s a weird time to be a sci-fi fan. The biggest franchises keep stumbling through divisive sequels, endless streaming series, and cinematic universes running on fumes. Fortunately, streaming also gives us a chance to revisit the genre at its best, and you don’t need a multipass, just a Netflix subscription. There, you can stream The Fifth Element, a sci-fi action classic that is still blowing our minds nearly 30 years after its release.
Anchors Far-Out Plot With Grounded Characters

What is it that makes The Fifth Element so great? For one thing, the film finds the right balance between special effects and the human element. Sure, each scene is full of sci-fi splendor, but this is a movie anchored by its performers. None of those performances are quite as confident and iconic as Bruce Willis, whose Korben Dallas character feels instantly fresh in a sci-fi genre filled with boring carbon copies of famous protagonists like Captain Kirk and Luke Skywalker.
The Everyman Charm

If you’ve never seen The Fifth Element and need a mental picture, Willis plays Dallas like a cockier version of his famous John McClane character. Part of what made McClane so compelling in Die Hard is that he was always on the back foot, and he seemed believably out of his depth while fighting through a Christmas party turned terrorist attack.
In The Fifth Element, Willis still exudes the everyman charm and relatability of McClane, but he also has an air of unflappable cool in the face of everything from an incompetent burglar to an impending apocalypse.
A Show To Run Here And It Must Pop!

Bruce Willis could have carried this film on his own, but he fortunately didn’t have to. Milla Jovovich is a great sidekick turned love interest who later parlayed this performance as a multipass pixie dream girl into a career as an action star. Her quirked-up line deliveries are funny enough, but she can’t hold a candle to Chris Tucker, whose Ruby Rhod delivers one-liners funnier than anything Iron Man ever muttered in the MCU.
The Banality Of Evil

All of the performances in The Fifth Element are great, and we haven’t even touched on Gary Oldman’s turn as a very different kind of villain. He is basically the banality of evil in human form, but this doesn’t keep him from being darkly hilarious. Plus, the movie’s notion that powerful leaders might sell humanity out for a piece of the action seems more prescient now than ever.
This may sound like faint praise (or copium as the kids say), but The Fifth Element is better than most modern sci-fi because of its simple plot. Everything can be summed up in a single sentence: our heroes must find and use the mysterious fifth element to save humanity from an ancient evil. Such a streamlined plot is easy for audiences to understand and gives the film more runway to focus on a narrative that, at its heart, is a love story.
Everyone Serves A Purpose

In retrospect, this is what we love most about The Fifth Element: the fancy sci-fi technology and cutting-edge special effects firmly take a backseat so the film can focus on its characters. Everyone gets a rewarding arc: cabbie to hero, ingenue to savior, clown to ally. Individually, these arcs are powerful; collectively, they are like the elements, forming a sum far greater than the individual parts.
Of course, if we praise The Fifth Element any harder, you might think we’re getting kickbacks from Ruby Rhod himself. The best thing to do is make up your own mind by streaming the movie on Netflix. Just beware of the emotional drop when you realize that we may never get another sci-fi movie like this Luc Besson classic ever again.

Alicia Brown Shares Message About “False Narratives”
On Thursday, June 25, Alicia Brown took to her Instagram Story to share a message. Furthermore, Brown wrote, “These last few weeks have sucked. I hate this for everyone involved. The amount of false narratives that have been displayed and attacks on everyone hurts…”
“I take full responsibility for posting the video of my face. The lack of accountability, remorse and acknowledgement has also been weighing heavy on me. Now it is time for me to address it,” she continued.
Before concluding the message, Brown asked for patience as she identifies “the appropriate platform” and works with her legal team.
Big Tigger Is Reportedly Ordered To Stay Away From Her & Their Kids
According to TMZ, hours before Alicia Brown shared her message, a Fulton County judge granted her a temporary protective order against her husband. Per the outlet, in her petition, Brown cited the May incident where Tigger allegedly pushed her, and she slammed her head into a door. Additionally, she alleged that Tigger pressured her to deny the incident, threatening that she would “lose everything” if she spoke out.
In her petition, Brown also alleged that Tigger “cut off her access to the home’s cameras and gate controls.”
Per the outlet, Tigger must stay 200 yards away from Brown and their kids. Additionally, he must have no contact with them. And Brown has been given temporary custody of their minor kids and exclusive use of their home.
A hearing in their case is scheduled for July 13.
More On What’s Happening Between Alicia Brown & Big Tigger
As The Shade Room previously reported, Alicia Brown made headlines when she shared footage of her battered face, seemingly accusing Tigger and alleging he cheated on her with his radio co-host, Francesca Amiker.
Francesca Amiker denied the allegations. But Tigger was ultimately named a suspect in an assault investigation. Subsequently, Brown alleged that she never called her husband an “abuser.”
Meanwhile, Big Tigger broke his silence on the entire ordeal.
Then, on June 20, Tigger was taken into custody and hit with battery and cruelty to children charges. Ultimately, it was revealed that his arrest was made in connection with the alleged May incident that injured his wife.

Grand Theft Auto VI Standard and Ultimate Edition Pricing Explained : Coastal House Media
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are no strangers to reinvention. From Saturday morning cartoons to arcade brawlers to nostalgic throwbacks like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, the franchise has thrived by adapting to new generations. But the upcoming adaptation of TMNT: The Last Ronin is shaping up to be something entirely different.
According to publisher THQ Nordic and developer Black Forest Games, The Last Ronin is being developed as a serious, story driven third person action game. More notably, early reporting around the announcement described the project as being in the vein of modern prestige action titles like God of War.
That comparison alone signals a dramatic tonal shift for the franchise.
A Darker TMNT Was Inevitable
The Last Ronin comic series already proved that audiences are ready for a mature, emotionally heavy take on the Turtles. Set in a dystopian future where only one Turtle remains, the story abandons pizza jokes and lighthearted banter in favor of loss, vengeance, and legacy.
Translating that into an interactive experience almost demands a more cinematic approach. A traditional arcade style beat em up simply would not carry the emotional weight of the source material. The God of War comparison suggests a tighter narrative focus, heavier combat mechanics, and a presentation built around character development rather than multiplayer chaos.
If that direction holds true, The Last Ronin could become the most ambitious TMNT game ever made.
God of War [credit:Santa Monica Studio]
What We Actually Know
Here is what has been officially confirmed so far:
• The game is in development at Black Forest Games and published by THQ Nordic.
• It is based directly on the The Last Ronin comic storyline.
• It is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC.
• It has been described as a third person action experience with a strong narrative emphasis.
• There is currently no announced release date.
That is the extent of the verified information. No extended gameplay has been shown publicly. No firm launch window has been revealed.
The Risk of the God of War Comparison
Invoking God of War sets expectations sky high. That franchise redefined cinematic action games with deliberate combat, emotional storytelling, and high production values. By aligning itself with that model, The Last Ronin invites direct comparison to one of the most respected action series in modern gaming.
For longtime fans, that is exciting. It suggests depth and seriousness that matches the comic’s tone. For skeptics, it raises concerns about whether the studio can deliver on such an ambitious promise.
Black Forest Games has experience with action focused titles, but adapting one of the most beloved arcs in TMNT history comes with pressure.

A Franchise at a Crossroads
TMNT is in a fascinating position. Nostalgia driven projects continue to succeed, but The Last Ronin represents a chance to push the brand into prestige territory. If successful, it could redefine how future TMNT games are developed.
For now, fans are left with a compelling premise and a bold comparison. Until gameplay is revealed, the conversation will revolve around one question.
Can The Last Ronin truly stand alongside God of War, or is that comparison simply aspirational?
Either way, this is not just another TMNT game. It is a statement about where the franchise wants to go next.

Rod Stewart Breaks Silence on Attending World Cup
Rod Stewart is finally addressing the backlash he endured after he was spotted enjoying a World Cup match shortly after disappointing his fans.
The British icon was forced to cancel his June 12 shows due to health issues, leaving concertgoers in distress.
However, Stewart is now explaining what prompted his decision, saying he attended the event not for his satisfaction but for his family’s sake.

The “Maggie May” singer, for the first time since the scandal, spoke out about the criticism he endured, saying he wishes he hadn’t attended the game.
“I really shouldn’t have gone to the Haiti game,” Stewart told Talk Sport. “I had to cancel a show the night before because I just had no voice left.”
Although his shaky health was the reason behind terminating the show, the iconic singer noted he went to the soccer game mainly because of his two sons, Liam and Alastair.
“The truth is…I wasn’t going to let my two sons down. I promised them since they were born that we’re going to go to a World Cup, and this is the first one that’s come about.”
Nevertheless, Stewart has every intention of taking accountability for his error, admitting that “it wasn’t a good look.”
The Singer Followed Doctor’s Advice To Axe His Show

Hours before Stewart was set to take the stage at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheater, with a throng of fans queuing outside the venue, his team released a statement.
“On the advice of his doctors and following a diagnosis of an acute upper respiratory infection that has resulted in laryngitis, he is unable to take the stage this evening,” it read, per The Blast.
The London native also spoke out, explaining that while he got treatment for his condition and felt better, his voice just couldn’t come through.
Offering his apologies, Stewart noted he was “very disappointed.” He also canceled his show at the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater in Colorado, which was scheduled for June 15.
Rod Stewart Bashed For Traveling To Boston After Canceling Performance

As concertgoers still grappled with the disappointment, Stewart, on the other hand, flew to Boston to catch the Scotland vs Haiti match.
The 81-year-old took to Instagram to detail the adventure, sharing a video of himself and his two sons in a private jet. He gushed about having attended seven World Cups, while this was his children’s first.
Stewart was also photographed at the match, vibrantly celebrating when Scotland won. Unfortunately, his post only further angered fans, who slammed it as tone-deaf.
“Hey Rod, lost a little respect for you canceling your concert the night before, disappointing a stadium full of people,” one fan commented.
Another user wrote, “For someone who was sick enough to cancel his show last minute in San Diego yesterday, you sure seem hyped up enough to party with the boys in Boston today.”
The 81-Year-Old Almost Fainted While On Stage

After the series of canceled shows, Stewart made his comeback on stage at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater on Saturday, June 20.
Unfortunately, the concert wasn’t without a hitch as the singer’s health issue reared its ugly head. As The Blast reported, Stewart was seen evidently struggling while performing, causing him to stop and signal backstage for aid.
Immediately, a staff member rushed on stage with an oxygen tank out of which Stewart took a few puffs before turning to the crowd to say, “I nearly f-cking fainted.”
Concertgoers urged the legendary singer to take a break and attend to himself, but Stewart soldiered on, telling them nothing must disrupt the show. He, however, asked to sit on the stairs for the rest of the performance.
Was Rod Stewart’s Health Fail A ‘South Park’ Prophecy?
Stewart’s struggle on stage quickly went viral, and eagle-eyed fans pointed out that it seemed to be a case of life imitating art.
It turns out that an old episode of the beloved sitcom, “South Park,” predicted that the “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” singer would have a health episode while performing.
According to The Blast, in the 1999 episode titled “Are You There God? It’s me, Jesus.” Stewart was booked to perform on New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas.
He appeared on stage in a wheelchair while struggling with bowel issues. Almost like the real-life Utah incident, the animated Stewart messed himself up, causing a nurse to rush on stage.
“I can’t believe they did this with Rod Stewart nearly 30 years ago on South Park,” a shocked fan declared.

Millie Bobby Brown Reveals Secret Pact With the Duffer Brothers Over Eleven’s Fate in Stranger Things : Coastal House Media
The first reactions to Supergirl have arrived, and if the early buzz is any indication, DC may have another major success on its hands.
Critics and journalists who attended early screenings have praised the film’s emotional storytelling, stunning visuals, and, above all else, Milly Alcock’s performance as Kara Zor-El. Many are calling her portrayal one of the standout superhero performances in recent years, describing her Supergirl as fierce, vulnerable, rebellious, and deeply human.
Entertainment journalist Brandon Davis wrote that Supergirl is “a visually stunning and emotionally rich adventure” and praised Alcock for delivering a “star-making performance.” Others echoed that sentiment, saying she completely owns the role and creates a version of Kara that feels dramatically different from Superman while remaining just as compelling.
Several reactions have highlighted the film’s unique tone, noting that it feels less like a traditional superhero movie and more like a cosmic fantasy adventure. The story reportedly embraces the darker, more emotional elements of the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic, following Kara on an interstellar journey filled with loss, vengeance, and self-discovery.
One early reaction described the film as “heartbreaking, hilarious, and visually gorgeous,” while another praised director Craig Gillespie for creating a world that feels expansive and unlike anything previously seen in the DC Universe. Critics have also singled out the chemistry between Alcock and Eve Ridley, who plays Ruthye, saying their relationship forms the emotional core of the movie.
Credit: Warner Bros.
The praise surrounding Alcock has been especially consistent. In a recent profile, Gillespie praised the actress’s commitment and authenticity, while DC executives reportedly knew they had found their Supergirl after seeing her screen test. Her version of Kara is described as tougher, more emotionally scarred, and more rebellious than previous incarnations of the character.
That approach aligns closely with the film’s source material. Based on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the movie presents Kara not as an idealized hero, but as someone carrying the trauma of Krypton’s destruction while searching for her own purpose in the universe.
With Superman helping launch the new DC Universe and Supergirl now earning rave first reactions, fans have even more reason to be excited about the future of DC Studios.
If these early impressions hold true with audiences, Milly Alcock may have just delivered the definitive live-action Supergirl for a new generation.

Forget ‘Reacher,’ Alan Ritchson’s New Revenge Thriller Trailer Reveals the Most Violent Spectacle of 2026
Motor City is one of the most intriguing movies set to release in theaters this year. On the face of it, the film looks like your standard revenge thriller led by Reacher star Alan Ritchson, but that’s just barely scratching the surface when you really get down to it. Set to arrive in theaters on July 24, Motor City is going to rock our socks off, and the new trailer for the movie is one of the most fascinating we’ve seen in some time.
The film, set in 1970s Detroit and directed by Potsy Ponciroli, follows Ritchson’s John Miller, described as a “working class romantic” who is framed by a ruthless gangster for the crime of falling in love with his girlfriend. After being locked away for years, he returns home with agonizing and prolonged revenge on his mind for those who have wronged him. The movie is described as a “virtually silent” revenge saga, and given his experience as Reacher, we can’t help but agree that Ritchson is the ideal guy to let his heaving, hulking mass do a lot of the talking for him.
In addition to Ritchson, the cast includes Shailene Woodley (Big Little Lies, The Fault in Our Stars) as Sophia, Ben Foster (Hell or High Water, 3:10 to Yuma) as Reynolds, Pablo Schreiber (Halo, 13 Hours), Ben McKenzie (Gotham, The O.C.), Stephen Dorff (Blade, True Detective), and Amar Chadha-Patel (Willow, The Decameron) as Singh. Motor City is written by Chad St. John and features music by Jack White.
Alan Ritchson Will Surprise People in ‘Motor City’
Last year, Foster sat down with Collider’s Perri Nemiroff at the Toronto International Film Festival and spoke glowingly about working with Ritchson, adding that Motor City would allow him to show a new side of himself. “He’s very tall and very muscular, and he’s very handsome. He’s terrific as a mover. I think he wants to do some deeper work, or rather different kinds of work than he’s been doing, and that’s a joy.” Foster added that he felt the movie was “like a graphic novel,” and described it as a “rock disco revenge film,” saying:
“The film itself, Motor City — we just wrapped — is virtually a silent film. There are five lines of dialogue. Jack White is helping with the music, so it’s like a rock disco revenge film. It’s like a graphic novel, so it’ll be interesting to see how that shakes out.”
Independent Film Company will release Motor City in theaters on July 24. Check out the trailer above.
