There is nearly as much interest in the team sheets as the the on-field action when Liverpool host Brighton this afternoon.
The build-up has been dominated by the fall-out between the Merseyside club and star striker Mohamed Salah following the Egypt international’s remarkable outburst after last Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Leeds.
Salah was omitted from the travelling party for the midweek game at Inter Milan – a match Liverpool won 1-0 thanks to Dominik Szoboszlai’s controversial late penalty – but returns to the squad for the clash with the Seagulls.
Liverpool, who start the weekend in 10th place, have won just one of their last five games in the Premier League and need three points this afternoon to get their domestic campaign back on track.
Brighton also come into the contest under a bit of a cloud after failing to win either of their last two games – home fixtures with Aston Villa and West Ham.
Fabian Hurzeler’s side squandered a 2-0 lead to lose 4-3 to Villa and required a late Georginio Rutter equaliser to salvage a point against the struggling Hammers.
