Young and the Restless Spoilers: Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) - Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow)

Young and the Restless 2-Week Spoilers for August 10-21, 2026 bring drama with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) losing it and raging at Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). But all is not as it seems once you realize what’s actually going on.

Plus, some serious secret spills. Also, in the two weeks of August 10th through the 21st, we’ve got Devon Hamilton Winters (Bryton James) in a better mood at last. Plus, Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes) is back and lots more. Let’s jump right into it.

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Nick Horrified by His Nightmare

Monday, August 10th on Young and the Restless. We’ve got Nick hiding out at the sketchy motel doing drugs and ignoring messages from Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). And then Nick is high. He passes out and he has a nightmare about his demons. Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) shows up in the dream and claims he’s there to help Nick figure out why he likes doing drugs.

He takes him to the Shadow Room and they see Sharon’s passed out at one of the tables and she’s dressed like a junkie. So, she’s passed out and black nails, grungy clothes. And in the dream, Nick got Sharon hooked on drugs also. He sees Mariah only it’s not her. It is really Cassie who now hates Nick for what she’s done to Sharon. And Cassie is blasting Nick for leaving rehab after just a day.

So, Nick grabs up Sharon to take her to rehab. And then suddenly Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) is in the back seat and starts strangling Nick. And then we flip to a scene at the new ranch and Adam and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) are screaming at Nick that Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) is dead. He got into Nick’s fentanyl and the kid overdosed. And Chelsea says they are going to take Christian Newman away from him.

Y&R Spoilers: Nikki & Victor Rage at Nick

And then all of a sudden, Nick’s back at the shadow room and there’s Nikki raging at Nick, telling him that he is a liar. And Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is calling him a disgrace. Turns out Nikki and Victor broke up again. They’re blaming Nick. And then Nikki orders a doubled vodka and Victor says that Nick has destroyed their family. Then Victoria appears at Nick’s bedside saying he tried to be everybody’s hero. Then he wakes up from this bad dream.

New character Marie Kirkland (Jade Harlow) is banging on the door and Nick sees missed messages from Christian, Noah Newman (Lucas Adams), and Adam. Marie asks if Nick’s okay and said she heard noises. He said it was just a nightmare and Marie wants to know if he’ll share his drugs with her.

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Devon Shocks Everyone

Tuesday, August 11th on The Young and the Restless. Devon gathers Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway), and Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) all at Lily’s place and says he’s got something to tell them that will change their lives. Nick gets comfort from his new friend, Marie.

Unfortunately, looks like she’s another pill popper. Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) sees a very different side of Victoria. She is really distraught about Nick going missing from rehab and dodging calls and texts from the family. Kyle’s holding her as Victoria cries, and then they pull apart, but their faces are really close together, and it looks like Kyle and Victoria may kiss.

Young and Restless Spoilers: Cane Warns Jack

Wednesday, August 12th on Young and Restless. Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) gets a heads up from Cane about Billy Abbott ‘s (Jason Thompson) new scheme. So, this may be about Jill’s secret that Billy is obsessed with finding out. We also have Nate getting some advice from Lily. He’s considering a return to the medical field. And of course, you’ll remember Holden’s mom, Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox), has been wanting Nate to come back to the hospital even if he can’t be a surgeon again. So, Lily may want Nate to stay at Winters, but obviously will respect his decision.

Also on Wednesday, Nick officially hits rock bottom. He’s still in that rowdy motel room. He tries to get Marie to leave and Nick is telling Marie that he came there to be alone, but she tells Nick that he should relax. And Marie says she and Nick could have the time of their lives. So, it sounds like he’s going to have a drug and sex fest with this chick, Marie. And of course, Nick’s family is going to be horrified if they find him like that.

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Billy Spills a Secret

Then on Thursday, August 13th’s episode of Young and the Restless, we know that Victor and Nikki are supposed to be in Venice, Italy. However, Victor and Nikki are back in Genoa City this week talking about how worried they are about Nick. So, it looks like Nikki and Victor might have cut their trip short and came home early because Nick has gone missing and the whole family is frantic.

Billy lets Jack and Kyle in on a secret, and this may be about the Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) thing, or Billy may be running his mouth again about Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope) deal with Adam for Newman Media. Billy is talking to Kyle and Jack up at the Chancellor Park Overlook Cafe. And I’m interested to see if Cane’s advanced warning to Jack has him taking a big sideways look at whatever Billy says, because he’s clearly obsessed and it feels like he’s about to mess up his new life with Sally.

Y&R Spoilers: Adam & Chelsea Rehash the Past

Then on Friday, August 14th, on The Young and the Restless, Chelsea and Adam talk about some unresolved issues from the past. I suspect Chelsea and Adam are almost at a tipping point with the Newman family drama. Victor is hellbent on punishing Billy for taking Newman Media, and he’s been planning to target Sally. So, you know, Adam and Chelsea may walk away. Maybe Nick’s crisis will convince Victor he needs to stop all his awful plans, but honestly, it would take a miracle.

This week, Sharon, Victoria, and Nikki are all talking at the new ranch, and they are all super stressed about Nick still being missing. We’ve got Billy causing problems between Cane and Lily. They’re in a good place. They’re on the path to reconciliation, but his fixation on Chancellor and Jill’s secret may force Cane to fire Billy. But if Cane does that, Billy may come unglued.

Nikki’s trying really hard to keep up appearances this week. She may be trying to hide how worried she is about Nick from everybody else. And we’re going to find out more about Billy’s fixation on Jill by the end of this week. If you ask me, Billy is proving Lily right. Remember, she didn’t even want Cane to hire Billy in the first place because she knew he was going to keep being a train wreck. And that’s what he’s doing right off the rails.

Young and the Restless Spoilers: The Newmans Band Together

Then the week of August 17th through the 21st, the search for Nick intensifies. They really need to find him and get him back to rehab. That’s the same motel everybody uses for dodgy stuff. Ian Ward (Ray Wise) has been there. Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk), Jeremy Stark (James Hyde), Adam’s been there. Sharon’s been there.

So many people. So, you’d think they would think, “Hey, let’s go check that sketchy motel.” It would be great if it was Adam who saved Nick. Unfortunately, it might be Matt who saves him again, you know, as part of this redemption thing. We’ll see if Victoria and Kyle cross a line of whether they go from kissing to canoodling to the bedroom. Of course, that would get really messy because Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) might not like it and Victor would be infuriated.

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) - Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow)Young and the Restless Spoilers: Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) - Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow)
Young and the Restless Spoilers: Nikki Newman – Nick Newman

We also have Billy making terrible decisions and he could very well lose Sally. At a minimum, I think she’s about to hit Billy with a this is your last chance, buddy type of ultimatum because how much more should Sally take before something’s got to give with Billy? We know Devon and Abby turn a corner soon. So, hopefully Devon is out of this funk and will stop pushing Abby away. And honestly, Mariah’s return may actually be the key to Devon putting his anger behind him since she’s the one who started it.

Adam and Chelsea are worried about Nick and they’re worried about Sally and they don’t need any more of Victor stress in their lives. So, they’re thinking what needs to give. We should learn more about Jill’s secret soon. I am hoping to see Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) and Aria for at least a couple of scenes. Now that Mariah is home and they are putting their family back together, it shouldn’t be all offscreen.

Matt and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) get much closer, much to everyone’s dismay. Cane and Lily lock in and move forward with their renewed relationship. And Danny Romalotti (Michael Damson) is working on a new love song, and he’s going to be singing it to Christine Blair Romalotti (Lauralee Bell) soon.

Beyond the Gates Weekly Spoilers Aug 10-14: Bill Fights for Life & Dani’s Shocking Reveal!

Published

on

Beyond the Gates Spoilers: Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) - Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley)

Beyond the Gates spoilers for August 10-14, 2026 are going to see Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) on his deathbed thanks to toxic little Haley Lawson (Marquita Goings) and Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) makes a huge slip of the tongue that has all the family giving her side eye.

This is a do not miss week of Beyond the Gates, by the way, because Haley’s plot finally comes to fruition. Poor Tyrell Richardson (Jaden Lucas Miller) gets dumped and Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman) is in danger from his stalker. Let’s dive right into it.

Beyond the Gates Spoilers: Hayley’s Plans Ruined

Monday, August 10th, is season 2, episode 143 of BTG, and Haley’s travel plans get derailed. So, I’m sure she’s going to get a call maybe from Caroline Lee (Ellie Wang) that Bill is on his way to the hospital. And you know, Haley’s going to be mad that she has been thwarted again.

Caroline rushes to Bill’s rescue. She’s calling 911. He is rushed over to the hospital. You know, Madison Montgomery (Kenjah McNeil) is going to be right on that case. Caroline is going to be terrified. She already didn’t like the travel plans. Dani’s slip of the tongue stuns her family. She’s up at the hospital with all the family.

They’re waiting for news on Bill and horrible little Haley walks in and they get into it and Dani winds up screaming at Haley in the hall of the hospital. She’s got Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne (Arielle Prepetit) and Jacob Hawthorne (Jibre Hordges) at her back and Dani is yelling, “You will never replace me in Bill’s heart and I will always be here for my husband.” Those two words, my husband. Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis), Naomi, Jacob, Chelsea Hamilton (RhonniRose Mantilla), Kat Richardson (Colby Muhammad), Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie), all of them look stunned. Jaws drop.

BTG Spoilers: Ashley Jones Joins Cast

I’m interested to see if Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman) is going to be there to hear Dani, too, or if somebody else is going to tell Andre what she said. You know that Haley will love to drop that bomb on him. Also, Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli) winds up bonding with Heather Armstrong (Ashley Jones). Vanessa’s doing this for Joey, and up till now, we’ve seen Vanessa being pretty uneasy around Heather, who honestly is a viper in couture and red lipstick.

I love Ashley Jones. She was so good on True Blood. She was really good on The Bold and the Beautiful. She’s been in a ton of stuff. She was a good get and Michelle Val Jean had worked with her over on Bold. So, Joey’s not going to like Vanessa bonding with Heather and Joey may be suspicious thinking Heather is using Vanessa trying to get into his organization.

Izaiah Hawthorne (David Lami Friebe) and Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle) adjust to life and love after her transplant. They have not made love since the transplant. So this may be when she powers through and Isaiah makes her feel as beautiful as ever. Chelsea’s in the waiting room at the hospital asking what if Dad doesn’t regain consciousness and Mom doesn’t get a chance to say goodbye to him. She’s talking to someone and it may be Madison.

Beyond the Gates: Bill’s Deathbed Request and Family Secrets

Tuesday, August 11th on Beyond the Gates is season 2, episode 144. Bill has a request of Dani that enrages Haley. Some deathbed request obviously. I mean, Haley doesn’t care if Bill lives or dies, but she’s super jealous that she stole Bill, got the rock, got the mansion, but Dani’s still living rent-free in both Bill and Haley’s heads.

So, I bet Bill’s going to be thrilled when he hears Dani called him her husband. Vernon demands answers from Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom). This may be about Heather because she is sliding closer to Dani, and Vernon’s not going to like any Armstrong family member close to his. Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnee Duplaix) and Kial Rollins (Greg Vaughn) get unsettling news. This could be hearing about Bill or it could be about Noah and him telling them that Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant) has been smacking them.

BTG Spoilers: Leslie Lends a Hand

Leslie reaches out to somebody in need. She’s generally unsympathetic and only cares about Eva and herself, but she may weirdly show up for Haley since we’ve seen Leslie offering to plot with her so many times. Chelsea, Cat, Naomi, and Jacob are leaning on each other. And Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson) is talking to Cat up at the hospital.

And Ted asks Cat, “How are your cousins holding up?” And she tells her dad, “Ted, it’s not going well.” Cat says, “They’re nervous about their dad.” Then Cat says, “Chelsea is low-key unraveling.” And Naomi is lawyering her anxiety. And then Cat adds, “Don’t even get me started on Aunt Danny.”

Beyond the Gates Spoilers: Suspicions and Confrontations

Then on Wednesday, August 12th on Beyond the Gates, it’s season 2, episode 145. Dani is turning to Vanessa for advice. So, Vanessa may be asking Dani, “How do you really feel about Bill and the chance that you might lose him because he may die?” Andre does the same with Ted, looking for advice, maybe about the stalker or what Danny said about Bill, or both.

Cat’s actions put her in Haley’s crosshairs. And I wonder if she’s continuing to ask questions about what happened to Bill. And with Cat listening to all those true crime podcasts, she may suspect Haley of being a black widow looking to bank on Bill’s death. Naomi and Tomas Navarro (Alex Alegria) lock horns. He already came at Naomi kind of hard the other day. Tomas really needs to watch it.

So, Naomi is up at Bill’s law office and Tomas confronts her. He says, “Bill’s not even gone and you’re here marking your territory.” And Naomi is mad. And she says, “What the hell did you just say to me?” So with Bill out of commission, I could see Naomi swooping in to run things for her father, which would annoy Tomas because he sees himself as the right hand.

Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon) and Smitty Smith (Mike Manning) try to help Tyrell. Jessica dumped him because she wants to be free to date at UCLA. She’s all the way out on the West Coast. Tyrell was warned about this and he was trying to make crazy plans to constantly fly to LA and his dad said not going to happen.

Samantha Richardson (Najah Jackson) doles out a reality check to Jessica and it may be about her dumping Tyrell who’s a great guy or Samantha may say just completely do a clean break. You know, don’t hang around. Don’t try to be friends. Let my brother go.

BTG Spoilers: Secrets, Suspects, and Danger

Thursday, August 13th on Beyond the Gates. It’s season 2, episode 146. Andre has a tense visit with Bill. I’m sure it’s up at the hospital still. And I bet by then Andre’s heard what Dani said with the “my husband” thing. And I wonder if Bill’s going to blab the big secret about his and Dani’s elevator encounter. Then again, if Bill thinks he’s really dying, he might tell Andre, “Please take good care of her.”

Joey and Vanessa don’t see eye to eye when it comes to his sister. So, it looks like Heather worked her voodoo on Vanessa, who may push for Joey to let Heather more into his life, which is exactly what Joey doesn’t want, and Heather does. Smitty ponders an interesting opportunity, and Ashley Morgan (Jen Jacob) and Grayson Perez (Jordie Vilasuso) are worrying about a friend in need. Obviously, sounds like Naomi and all her stress about her dad.

August spoilers say that Jacob is going to plan a surprise for Naomi with their help. So, maybe something to take her mind off Bill. Caroline and Haley play each other. Caroline is now on high alert where Haley is concerned. Thinks she’s up to no good. And of course, Haley’s playing coy and innocent. Maybe trying to act like she and Caroline are still friends.

Beyond the Gates: August 14 – Confessions and Danger Ahead

Then on Friday, August 14th, we’re going to wrap up Beyond the Gates with season 2, episode 147. Dani is in the hot seat with Anita, Vernon, and Nicole. I’m sure they are confronting her about calling Bill her husband and want to know what is going on. And this may be the point Dani has to confess to doing the deed in the elevator during the tornado.

Vanessa meets Noah while she’s out with her daughter Deanna McBride (Angela Fairley) and he will explain he’s Kyle’s son. Maybe he’ll be a good distraction for her since Deanna has been so obsessed with Joey. Speaking of him, he is going to confront his sister Heather. I’m guessing he wants her out of the DMV ASAP and away from his business and his girlfriend Vanessa.

Chelsea has an update for Cat and it may be on Bill and Haley. One couple reaches a new understanding and it may be Danny and Andre. Plus, Andre is lured to a mysterious rendezvous by his mysterious stalker who may be dangerous. We’ll see.

14-Year-Old Accidentally Strangled Himself to Death After Mom Left 2 Sons With Autism Home Alone

A mother in Rhode Island was arrested after she allegedly killed her 21-year-old autistic daughter in a suspected murder-suicide attempt.

Anna Maria Angelosanto has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Alexandra Straccia, according to WPRI.

The Cranston Police Department learned of the crime when officers reported to a first-floor apartment in Cranston, Rhode Island, on the morning of July 27. Upon their arrival, officers allegedly found Angelosanto, 62, with seemingly self-inflicted wounds. Meanwhile, Straccia was found dead in a separate bedroom.

Angelosanto was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated, and an investigation was launched into Straccia’s death.

As authorities searched the home, investigators found a handwritten note as well as prescription and over-the-counter medications. Authorities have not revealed the contents of the note.

Straccia had been diagnosed with autism and depended on Angelosanto for “around-the-clock care,” according to police.

While Angelosanto was still in the hospital, detectives interviewed her family members to get a better understanding of the case.

Authorities ultimately concluded that allegedly Angelosanto killed her daughter before she tried to kill herself.

“This is an extraordinarily tragic case that has deeply affected our community and everyone involved in the investigation,” Cranston Police Chief Michael Winquist told WPRI. “We extend our deepest condolences to Alexandra’s family and loved ones as they continue to cope with this devastating loss.”

It is not currently clear how Straccia died or what Angelosanto’s current condition is.

Following the tragedy, neighbors were left in shock over the situation.

“It’s a tragedy,” neighbor Frank Oster told WJAR. “The mother will never be the same again in her life.”

The 6 Worst R-Rated Thriller Movies of the 2020s So Far

Published

on

Georgina Campbell sits behind the steering wheel of her patrol car in 'Psycho Killer'

It’s relatively surprising that there are still such disastrous mainstream releases in the current decade when considering the pressure that the industry is under. The rise of streaming as an alternative to moviegoing for many audiences, especially young people, has made it so that there needs to be a strong incentive to see something in theaters. This would seemingly give studios the incentive to reserve their highest-quality projects for the big screen, given that the lesser films are often shunted directly to a subscription service or VOD. Nonetheless, there are a few noteworthy disasters in the R-Rated thriller category that show just how willing production companies are to send out a hastily put together product to make a quick buck.

It’s disappointing that films like this still exist given the challenges that face the current marketplace. Many of the best films of a given year almost barely get out of limited release, as they tend to be catered towards the wealthier, privileged moviegoers in New York and Los Angeles. This year even saw the debut of some truly excellent R-Rated thrillers like Carolina Caroline, Crime 101, and Tuner, which sadly didn’t have the box office success that they deserved. When audiences complain that there is nothing to see in theaters besides blockbusters, and that television has been a replacement when it comes to mature stories aimed at adults, it’s these types of films that they see as the issue.

‘Psycho Killer’ (2026)

Psycho Killer feels like a serial killer thriller that was lifted from the ‘90s, which makes sense because it was written by Andrew Kevin Walker, the screenwriter behind Se7en. Se7en was obviously a game changer that kicked off a newfound obsession with unpredictable psychopathic characters, but much of the film’s genius can be credited to David Fincher, who would later prove himself to be the master of the serial killer subgenre with Zodiac, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and Mindhunter. Psycho Killer is the laziest and most incompetent version of the same cliched premise imaginable, and seems not to have acknowledged how the genre has evolved in the last 30 years.

The worst thing that a serial killer film can be as boring, as the kills in Psycho Killer are relatively unengaging, the characters have no substance to them, and the conspiracy that is revealed is far more mundane than it was hyped up as being. Not even a ridiculous, over-the-top performance by Malcolm McDowell is enough to salvage this utter mess.

‘The Front Room’ (2024)

The Front Room is perhaps the worst film that has ever been released by A24, as not even the lower-budget, direct-to-VOD genre titles that the distributor put out before it became a mainstream awards contender and box office superstar are quite as unwatchable. The worst thing that has resulted from the era of “prestige” genre films is the obsession with trying to make a point without having the substance to back it up, and The Front Room isn’t even clear what type of genre it is supposed to be; it’s more gross than it is scary, and the dark comedy is more uncomfortable than it is transgressive.

There’s nothing worse than being forced to spend time with obnoxious characters who do not develop, and witnessing The Front Room is an endurance test. While there is the slightest of possibilities that it could have been somewhat successful if the same premise had been used for a short film, it completely collapses in its ambitions to be a feature.

‘The Alto Knights’ (2025)

The Alto Knights
The Alto Knights
Image via Warner Bros.

The Alto Knights is one of the most disappointing films of the decade when considering the caliber of talent involved and the potential of this specific material. Barry Levinson is an Academy Award winning filmmaker who won Best Picture and Best Director for Rain Man, and he has continuously made solid work in the years since; a reunion with Robert De Niro seemed like a great idea, as they had previously made the crime epic Sleepers and the underrated HBO drama The Wizard of Lies together. The Alto Knights is focused on the New York mob bosses Frank Costello and Vito Genovese during the 1950s, but in a baffling decision Levinson decided to cast De Niro as both characters, using makeup to differentiate the two. It’s a ridiculous choice that limits the interactions between characters who are supposed to have a specific bond, and it’s disappointing to see someone of De Niro’s talent doing the type of cheap gimmicks that are usually reserved for Adam Sandler or Johnny Depp.

The Alto Knights doesn’t succeed in being a throwback to classic gangster films, as the entire ensemble seems to be bored by Levinson’s slow, methodical approach to remembering details, which may have only worked if it was a docudrama. De Niro has shown recently in films like Killers of the Flower Moon and The Irishman that he is still capable of giving great performances, and thus the failure of The Alto Knights to muster any energy out of him can only be blamed on Levinson.

The Academy Has Decided
Your Perfect Film Is…

Your answers have pointed to one Oscar Best Picture winner above all others. This is the film that was made for the way your mind works.

Parasite

You are drawn to films that operate on multiple levels simultaneously — that begin in one genre and quietly, brilliantly migrate into another. Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite is a film about class, desire, and the architecture of inequality that manages to be darkly funny, deeply suspenseful, and genuinely shocking across a single extraordinary running time. Your instinct is for cinema that hides its true intentions until the moment it’s ready to reveal them. Parasite is exactly that — a film that rewards close attention and punishes assumptions, right up to its devastating final image.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

You want it all — and this film gives you all of it. The Daniels’ Everything Everywhere All at Once is one of the most maximalist films ever made: action comedy, multiverse sci-fi, family drama, existential crisis, and a genuinely earned emotional core that sneaks up on you amid the chaos. You are someone who responds to ambition, who doesn’t want cinema to choose between being entertaining and being meaningful. This film refuses that choice entirely. It is overwhelming by design, and its overwhelming nature is precisely the point — because the feeling of being crushed by infinite possibility is exactly what it’s about.

Oppenheimer

You are drawn to cinema on a grand scale — films that understand history not as a backdrop but as a force, and that place their characters inside that force and watch what happens. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is a film about the terrifying gap between what we can do and what we should do, told with the full weight of one of the most consequential moments in human history behind it. You want your films to feel important without feeling self-important — to earn their ambition through sheer craft and the gravity of their subject. Oppenheimer does exactly that. It is enormous, complicated, and refuses easy comfort.

Birdman

You are drawn to films that foreground their own construction — that make the how of the filmmaking part of the what it’s about. Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman, shot to appear as a single continuous take, is cinema examining itself through the cracked mirror of a fading actor’s ego. You respond to formal daring, to the feeling that a film is doing something that probably shouldn’t be possible. Michael Keaton’s performance and Emmanuel Lubezki’s restless camera create something genuinely unlike anything else — a film that is simultaneously about creativity, relevance, self-destruction, and the impossibility of ever truly knowing if your work means anything at all.

No Country for Old Men

You are drawn to cinema that trusts silence, that refuses to explain itself, and that treats dread as a form of meaning. The Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men is a film about the arrival of a new kind of evil — implacable, arbitrary, and utterly indifferent to the moral frameworks we use to make sense of the world. It is one of the most formally controlled films ever made, and its controlled restraint is what makes it so terrifying. You want your films to haunt you, not comfort you. You are not interested in resolution if resolution would be dishonest. No Country for Old Men is honest in a way that most cinema never dares to be.

Don’t Worry Darling is without a doubt one of the most fascinating films of the 2020s based purely on the alleged chaos that went on behind-the-scenes during the production. While it’s important to separate the art from the artist, even if intriguing gossip can shape perspectives, Don’t Worry Darling was so clearly a film that everyone was on different pages making it fascinating to see how it became such a disaster. It’s one of the rare instances in which a group of truly talented people worked to make something nearly unwatchable, given that director Olivia Wilde had previously succeeded with her high school comedy Booksmart, and her latest film The Invite is one of the best of 2026.

Don’t Worry Darling builds to a twist so laughable that it might have succeeded as satire, but the commentary on misogyny and ‘50s culture is so outdated that it can’t hope to have any sort of resonance. What’s particularly unfortunate is that there is some compelling lavish production design and Florence Pugh does give a very charismatic, empathetic lead performance, but they are both wasted on a film that doesn’t take advantage of them.

‘Flight Risk’ (2025)

Flight Risk is a bizarre film for Mel Gibson to have directed, given that it is unlike anything else he has done as a filmmaker. While Gibson is obviously an extremely controversial director for multiple reasons, it would be hard to deny his talents when it comes to epic filmmaking; Braveheart is a Best Picture winner, Hacksaw Ridge is a riveting World War II drama, and Apocalypto is one of the most underrated action films ever made. Gibson has a talent for telling massive stories about societies on the verge of collapse, so it makes little sense that he would want to make a tight confinement thriller that had obvious budgetary impediments. While this is not the first time that he has collaborated with Mark Wahlberg, it is more than obvious that they aren’t bringing out the best in one another.

The worst thing about Flight Risk is that it is not nearly as fun as it should be, as the moments of ultra-violence and allusions to sexual abuse make what could have been a goofy B-movie feel downright sinister in nature. Wahlberg’s performance (and hairpiece) are downright ridiculous, and the final action set piece contains some of the worst CGI in any film since The Mummy Returns. Gibson’s qualities have long since been debated, but Flight Risk shows that he has also sold out as a filmmaker.

‘Kraven the Hunter’ (2024)

Kraven the Hunter finally brought the Sony Spider-Man spinoff universe to an end, as it was more than clear that trying to make a cinematic universe composed solely of villains that couldn’t be part of the MCU or feature any iteration of the webslinger was a very bad idea. Kraven the Hunter seemed like it might be a corrective because it was the only one of the six films to be Rated-R, and looked to be embracing some of the more exciting aspects of the comics. While Kraven the Hunter is better than both Madame Web and Morbius, that’s really not saying much at all; it suffers from the same issues of an overcomplicated backstory, bad and aloof dialogue, and not enough of the characters in their costumes or using powers.

Trying to make Kraven himself be an intimidating assassin only ended up feeling silly because of the goofy accents, even if Aaron Taylor-Johnson does have the right physique to play the character. There is unfortunately too much time when Taylor-Johnson is off screen that is centered on the character’s childhood, which ends up following down the same melodramatic route as nearly every other origin film. Russell Crowe, Alessandro Nivola, and Christopher Abbott are three brilliant actors who are trapped playing ridiculous villains with undefined powers, as Kraven the Hunter doesn’t even take the effort to make a centralized threat. It’s films like this that have caused “superhero fatigue.”

Free Streaming Officially Revives One of Mark Wahlberg’s Worst Sci-Fi Movies

Published

on

infinite-poster.jpeg

It’s been a tremendous year so far for stars Zendaya, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, and Jon Bernthal, who between them have appeared in blockbuster movies such as The Odyssey, The Drama, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and have several high-profile titles lined up. Similarly, there can be no doubt that the director of the year so far is Christopher Nolan, who has found a way to raise his profile even further with The Odyssey. The movie is set to become the fourth blockbuster of 2026 to pass the coveted $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, joining The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Toy Story 5, and Michael.

The latter film was directed by Antoine Fuqua, emerging as the biggest hit of his sturdy career. If there’s one other filmmaker who deserves a place alongside Nolan in the spotlight this year, it’s him. Like Zendaya, Holland, Pattinson, and Bernthal, whose earlier movies are witnessing viewership spikes thanks to the success of their newest work, Fuqua is seeing his past work gain newfound attention as well. However, the movie that’s currently surging on the free Tubi chart domestically isn’t one of his best. In fact, it’s his lowest-rated project, including his television and streaming work, on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. In addition to the poor reviews that the movie in question received, it also suffered the indignity of being shafted to Paramount+ in 2021 — a year when several major studio movies were released directly on streaming.

Your Fate Has Been Calculated
You’d Survive In…

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

The Resistance, Zion

The Matrix

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

  • You’re drawn to understanding how the system works before figuring out how to break it.
  • You’d find the Resistance, or it would find you — your instinct for spotting constructed realities is the machines’ worst nightmare.
  • You function best when you have access to information and the freedom to act on it.
  • The Matrix built an airtight prison. You’d be the one probing the walls for the door.

The Wasteland

Mad Max

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

  • You don’t need comfort, community, or a cause larger than the next horizon.
  • You need a vehicle, a clear threat, and enough fuel to outrun it — and you’re good at all three.
  • You are unsentimental enough to survive that world, and decent enough — just barely — to be something more than another raider.
  • In the wasteland, that distinction is everything.

Los Angeles, 2049

Blade Runner

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

  • You read people accurately, keep your circle small, and ask the questions others prefer not to answer.
  • In a city where humanity is a legal designation rather than a feeling, you hold onto something that keeps you functional.
  • You’re not a hero. But you’re not lost, either.
  • In Blade Runner’s world, that distinction is everything.

Arrakis

Dune

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

  • Patience, discipline, and political awareness are your core strengths — and on Arrakis, they’re survival tools.
  • You understand that the long game matters more than any single victory.
  • Others come to Dune and are consumed by it. You’d learn its logic and earn its respect.
  • In time, you wouldn’t just survive Arrakis — you’d begin to reshape it.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • You find meaning in being part of something larger than yourself — a cause, a crew, a rebellion.
  • You’d gravitate toward the Rebellion, or the fringes, or whatever pocket of the galaxy still believes the Empire’s grip can be broken.
  • You fight — not because you have to, but because standing aside isn’t something you’re capable of.
  • In Star Wars, that willingness is what makes all the difference.

The Movie Was Critically Panned

We’re talking about the sci-fi thriller Infinite, in which Mark Wahlberg‘s character discovers that he belongs to a secret society of individuals who have been protecting humanity for centuries. The movie was compared unfavorably to The Matrix and the Jason Bourne saga, and is now sitting at a 17% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The aggregator website’s consensus reads, “An initially intriguing sci-fi thriller that quickly veers into incoherence, Infinite is as inane as it is inconsequential.” The movie also featured Chiwetel Ejiofor, Dylan O’Brien, and Rupert Friend, among others. It’s Wahlberg’s only Paramount+ release; the star has headlined three Netflix movies, and two each for Prime Video and Apple TV in recent years. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.

‘Harry Potter’ Actress Speaks Out Against J.K. Rowling

Published

on

Daniel Radcliffe at The 79th Annual Tony Awards Meet The Nominees Press Event-NYC

While J.K. Rowling became a household name as the author of the wildly popular “Harry Potter” books, she’s spent the past several years making headlines for a very different reason. Rowling’s views on the trans community have drawn widespread scrutiny, particularly since the COVID-19 era, with critics accusing her of transphobia. Several “Harry Potter” alumni have since spoken out against her comments, making their own positions on transgender rights clear. Now, another member of the franchise has done the same.

Bel Powley, who will play Petunia Dursley in the upcoming “Harry Potter” series coming to Max this winter, spoke with The Telegraph and said she was completely against the author’s comments about transgender people.

“I strongly disagree with J.K. Rowling‘s views on gender,” she said. “I think that the trans community deserve safety and dignity and respect and total acceptance. But I love Harry Potter. I grew up with the books. I am from that first generation of readers and, again, I love magic and spookiness.”

J.K. Rowling Previously Voiced Her Opinion On This Issue

Powley’s comments come after the famed author made headlines after speaking about trans people. In 2019, Rowling shared a post on X in support of Maya Forstater, a researcher who brought a discrimination claim against her employers after claiming her contract wasn’t renewed after she made a series of posts arguing that biological sex is unchangeable.

“Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real? #IStandWithMaya #ThisIsNotADrill,” Rowling posted on X.

J.K. Rowling Says Her Position Is Not ‘Hateful’

In June 2020, the spotlight on Rowling became even brighter after she reposted an opinion article criticizing the author for writing about “people who menstruate.”

“‘People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?” she wrote on X. Even after receiving backlash, Rowling pushed even further, writing, “If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.”

She said that while she “respects” trans people’s rights to live, she argued that her “life has been shaped by being female.”

“I do not believe it’s hateful to say so,” she finished.

Daniel Radcliffe Is ‘Really Sad’ About Rowling’s Stance

Although Powley is part of the rebooted “Harry Potter” series, she isn’t the first performer tied to the franchise to speak out against Rowling’s position on trans people.

Daniel Radcliffe, who played the titular character in the original films, said that Rowling’s comments made him “really sad.”

He added, “I do look at the person that I met, the times that we met, and the books that she wrote, and the world that she created, and all of that is to me so deeply empathic.”

Years after his initial statement, other “Harry Potter” stars joined Radcliffe in speaking out against Rowling, including Emma Watson, who played Hermione in the films. One day, however, Rowling clapped back with a series of posts and condemned them for criticizing her in public.

“Emma Watson and her co-stars have every right to embrace gender identity ideology. Such beliefs are legally protected, and I wouldn’t want to see any of them threatened with loss of work, or violence, or death, because of them,” she wrote, per PEOPLE. “However, Emma and Dan in particular have both made it clear over the last few years that they think our former professional association gives them a particular right – nay, obligation – to critique me and my views in public.”

Rowling added that even “years after they finished acting in Potter,” the duo “continue to assume the role of de facto spokespeople for the world I created.”

North Dakota Mom Allegedly Killed Two Children, Cut Throats

North Dakota mother Kailey Erhart Mandan North Dakota cut cutting children's throats killed two children

A North Dakota mother was arrested for allegedly killing her two children by cutting their throats on Thursday, August 6. Not only that, Kailey Erhart is also accused of attacking her 1-year-old child with a knife.

North Dakota Mother Accused Of Cutting Her Children’s Throats

Erhart was arrested after Mandan Police Department officers responded to a report of stabbing at her home and found her covered in blood and holding a knife to her throat, according to Valley News Live. The mother of three reportedly dropped the knife and directed the police to kill her upon their arrival..

The officers then found Erhart’s three-year-old daughter, 1-year-old son and 5-month-old baby laying on a bed. They were not moving and all three children’s throats had been cut. She reportedly told the Mandan PD that put her children on the bed but thought their throats had been cut beforehand.

Additionally, she admitted to remembering having the knife in her hands when police arrived. However, she claimed she didn’t remember what happened.

The baby later died at the Alexius Medical Center Thursday, and the three-year-old died at Sanford Health on Friday morning. The one-year-old child survived and is recovering.

Erhart Allegedly Chased Her Husband And Mother-In-Law With Knife

In addition to cutting her children’s throats, Erhart reportedly threatened her husband and children’s father, Cameron Erhart, with a gun. However, Cameron was able to wrestle it away from his wife and disassemble it.

A cell phone recording allegedly captured Erhart saying to Cameron, “Say goodbye to your kids” as she carried one child. Furthermore, before the Mandan PD arrived, Erhart allegedly chased Cameron and the children’s grandmother out of the house with a knife. Erhart was reportedly upset because the couple was separating, and she also bit and scratched her husband.

Not only that, the 22-year-old mother had also made threats to harm her children and herself, and Child Protective Services had been advised of the threats. In addition, Erhart was committed to a mental health facility within the last 12 to 18 months. However, she was cleared to be with the children after being treated when the attacks occurred.

Erhart’s Bond Set At $3 Million

Erhart’s bond was set at $3 million, according to KFYR. Police Chief Jason Ziegler said the scene was “horrific.”

“A scene like that is something that nobody should ever have to see, and the way they came through in one of the most horrific times that they’ll probably experience in their life, I’m proud,” Ziegler said.

“I want to acknowledge this is an extreme, tragic and heartbreaking incident for the children involved, their families, our community and first responders who arrived on scene,” he added. “Our thoughts are with everyone that were impacted.”

Erhart was charged with two counts of murder and attempted murder. Additionally, she was charged with three counts of aggravated assault.

A GoFundMe page was set up by Cameron’s mother, Melissa Erhart.

“My name is Melissa Erhart, and my son Cameron Erhart never thought we would have to ask for help like this,” she wrote. “He is a father trying to survive something no parent should ever have to face. I lost two precious souls in a devastating tragedy after they were murdered by their mother, and the pain is more than I can put into words.”

Andy Cohen Defends Having Republicans On ‘Housewives’

Published

on

On the red carpet

Real Housewives” godfather Andy Cohen is standing by his casting decisions! On Threads, the iconic Bravo personality and father of two responded to a fan who asked him why he had so many “MAGA women” on the beloved franchise. Cohen, who is currently celebrating 20 years of the series with “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20,” said he would never look over a potential cast member because of their political affiliation.

On the red carpet
ZUMAPRESS.com / MEGA

Bravo’s “Real Housewives” has been airing since 2006. Since then, the show has spawned several new iterations from Dallas, Texas, to Dubai, and a handful of spin-offs. The different personalities and dynamics are part of what keeps the machine going, and it appears that Cohen knows that.

“If we didn’t showcase people with different POV’s there would be no show,” he replied to the fan. “Also, it’s a show about the women and their relationships, not about politics.”

Cohen also responded to a fan who asked him whether he believed any of the past or current “Real Housewives” could successfully run for office.

“So far the track record for reality stars running for office is TERRIBLE,” Cohen said, clearly pointing to President of the United States Donald Trump. “So I’m hesitant to say I think there are some really smart people on Bravo with great communication skills who could be effective in public service, though.”

Cohen’s response on Threads isn’t the first time that he has fired back at someone who has voiced their frustration about watching a show with right-leaning women.

According to Cohen, he and the rest of the executive team producing “The Real Housewives” try to steer clear of discussing politics on the show because it elicits such a strong reaction.

“We have Housewives in red states and blue states. And a lot of blue-state fans get really riled up over Housewives who are Trump supporters,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

However, Cohen isn’t moved or concerned with people’s outrage. “You know, get over it, this is America.”

Andy Cohen Said That He Speaks Out About Politics Due To His Identity

Cohen’s response may surprise some readers, considering the 58-year-old has voiced his displeasure about Donald Trump on social media before. For Cohen, though, when he speaks out, it’s due to his identity as a gay man.

“Frankly, the way that I use my platform the most is as a gay American and a gay dad. When I speak about politics, it is through that lens. I think that’s really important because I’m the only gay person in late-night television,” he said.

He then added that creating a show like “The Real Housewives” today is much more challenging than it was when the series premiered 20 years ago.

“In 2009, when one of the kids called his brother a [homophobic slur], we left it in the show and then discussed it at the reunion episode. That was how two brothers talked to each other in 2009, and we saw it as a teaching moment,” he said.
