Lewis Hamilton hailed a ‘classy gentleman’ after visiting Kim Kardashian on set

Daily Mirror

Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton has been praised by Kim Kardashian’s co-star Glenn Close for being a ‘classy gentleman’ after visiting her on set of All’s Fair

It has only been a week since Kim Kardashian took the plunge and went Instagram official with her latest beau, Lewis Hamilton.

But it seems posting a picture was not enough as she also invited him on set of the second series of her TV show All’s Fair and introduced him to her co-stars including the legendary Glenn Close.

And it looks as though the Hollywood legend happily gave Lewis her seal of approval. While on set the trio took a selfie and Glenn captioned it saying: “Sir Lewis came by our ALL’S FAIR location. I LOVED meeting him. What a sweet, classy gentleman he is.”

And Kim, 45, who plays the character Allura Grant reacted to the post with a love heart emoji.

All’s Fair is an American legal drama television series that follows a group of female divorce lawyers who quit a male-dominated firm to establish their own practice. It also stars Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts, Teyana Taylor and Sarah Paulson.

And while Sir Lewis made an effort to support Kim’s fledgling acting career after years of reality TV, the mum of four has also made the same effort as she was seen at the Monaco Grand Prix earlier this year.

They made things official in April and before the British Grand Prix earlier this year, he credited her for making him a “happier man”.

After Kim appeared at the Grand Prix, Lewis broke his silence about their relationship, telling the cameras it was good to have her support: “It’s amazing to have her come this weekend and have her support. My friends [in general].

But they have been spotted enjoying quality time together throughout their romance. The couple have been seen at the Superbowl and Coachella music festival.

Lewis has even been invited into the Kardashian-Jenner inner circle and was seen celebrating Kylie Jenner’s birthday last week. Sir Lewis posted a carousel of snaps of himself and looking loved up on a beach, with paintball guns and racing helmets.

He captioned the post with “outtakes.” And the Skims founder also posted a similar picture of them on a beach in an intimate mirror selfie and captioned it saying: “somewhere over the rainbow.”

He also previously went on a lakeside holiday with Kim’s family, spending time with her four children. “Summers at the lake with my favourite people,” she captioned the upload, with Lewis making an appearance in a sweet selfie alongside her youngest daughter, Chicago.

The pair first met back in 2014 at the GQ Awards but were in relationships at the time. Kim was with Kanye West and Sir Lewis was with Nicole Scherzinger. But for Sir Lewis his relationship ended in 2015 and Kim divorced Kanye in 2022.

This month, a source close to the Kardashians told US Weekly that Kim’s romance with Lewis was the “real deal”, insisting that the couple “are still very serious and committed to their relationship.”

The source added: “It is the real deal for Kim and something she hasn’t experienced in a long time.”

The Rivals star, who has been inspired by the 1980s fashion on the show, is pushing the boat out in all areas and will also be opting for a ‘big’ wedding dress.

Discussing her plans for a showstopping gown, she told Grazia magazine: ‘Since Rivals, in terms of fashion, I tend to go quite big now generally.’

An insider told The Sun On Sunday: ‘Emily has been going to Spain with her family on holiday ever since she was a child and loves the idea of getting married there.

‘She and Alistair adore the stunning countryside there, and guaranteed sun is a bonus.’

She previously said: ‘I loved my family holidays there when I was growing up.

‘We had a property there and my dad sold it a couple of years ago, but it’s our favourite place and we still go every year, and stay in a hotel.’

Speaking on The Romesh Ranganathan Show podcast, Emily added: ‘I’m surprised by how many people are happy about that. I thought I’d get a lot of people kicking off, but they’re like no, “f*** those kids”.’

Cleveland Police said the Passat had been travelling in the wrong direction when it collided with the police vehicle, which was travelling correctly along the carriageway.

Tributes have also poured in for the two officers, who were described by Cleveland Police Chief Constable Victoria Fuller as “brave officers”.

English cricket hit by fresh scandal as star handcuffed after nightclub incident

Published

on

Daily Mirror

Videos have circulated on social media of England cricket star Brydon Carse being led away by police in Derby with the ECB having now spoken out on the incident in the aftermath

The ECB have confirmed that they have launched an investigation into a video that appears to show England star Brydon Carse being put in handcuffs by police.

Carse, 31, was shown being placed into cuffs by officers on a night out in Derby following Durham’s County Championship win over Derbyshire. The incident showed the fast bowler being surrounded by four police officers and restrained.

Durham and England team-mate Matthew Potts is seemingly attempting to speak with Carse, while former England Test captain Ben Stokes can also be seen nearby. As per The Telegraph, Carse was briefly detained by officers but was not formally arrested and returned to the team hotel.

Nevertheless, the ECB have confirmed that they are taking a close look at the incident. A statement read: “We are aware of an incident which is reported to have taken place in Derby last night, and are currently investigating. We will provide a further update when possible.”

Carse was part of the England squad for the first Test against Pakistan, but was not selected. Depending on the investigation, he could return to contention for the second Test beginning at Lord’s on Thursday.

Carse took two wickets for Durham against Derbyshire, with Stokes claiming five of his own. Several members of the Durham squad then went out in Derby city centre that evening, which is when the alleged incident is thought to have taken place.

The incident follows Stokes and Gus Atkinson being stood down following a nightclub incident after England’s first Test win over New Zealand earlier this summer. The duo missed the second Test but returned for the third, during which Stokes announced his international retirement.

Joe Root, who has returned as England Test captain, has confirmed the team will no longer be subject to the controversial curfew that Stokes and Atkinson were said to have breached.

Carse has 14 Test caps and 44 white-ball appearances for his country. He featured in all five Tests in the Ashes in Australia over the winter, finishing as England’s leading wicket taker.

New footage emerges from inside Ryanair plane cabin in the moments after window shattered at 16,000ft and sucked a passenger out

Published

Ljubisa Karovic (pictured being held by passengers) was half-sucked out of a Ryanair flight from Greece to Germany on July 10

New vision has emerged from inside a Ryanair plane in the aftermath of a passenger being half-sucked out of the cabin when a window shattered during a flight.

Ljubisa Karovic, 61, was sitting in seat 11F onboard the flight from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Memmingen, Germany, when his right shoulder, arm and head were sucked outside about 20 minutes after takeoff on July 10.

It’s understood broken engine parts smashed the cabin window while flying at 16,000ft and the sudden cabin decompression pulled him through the hole, while his wife was forced to cling desperately to him.

Footage obtained by 60 Minutes Australia showed passengers silently gripped oxygen masks to their faces as shattered glass flew around the cabin as wind rushed inside.

The vision also showed those around Mr Karovic as they attempted to hold him in place. It’s believed the struggle to hold on to him lasted for up to two minutes until he was narrowly dragged back inside.

Eleni Kyranou, 33, was among those who held onto Mr Karovic with all her might.

‘I did what I could to help a person, to save a life,’ she told the program.

‘But it still haunts me, the images and the sound has stayed with me.’

Sofia Lavou managed to film the horrific incident. She’d believed the plane was going to crash and hoped the footage would help bring closure.

‘I said, ‘If I’m going down, at least I will have some proof of what happened’,’ Ms Lavou said.

The Daily Mail spoke to Mr Karovic two weeks after the ordeal, during which he had spent six days in hospital.

He said: ‘I only remember hearing the explosion, not much else. I can remember sitting in my seat and was looking forward to seeing my brother because the whole family was getting together to surprise him for his 60th birthday.

‘I fell asleep quite quickly as I usually do on flights. Then there was this deafening explosion, which startled me.’

Witnesses describe him as dangling diagonally out of the aircraft ‘like Superman flying through the air’, as the wind lashed his face, contorting it out of shape as if he was a cartoon character.

Ljubisa said he now suffers with acute neck and shoulder pain, and had to wear a neck brace for six weeks. Doctors warned him that he may require an operation if the pain continues.

He was also treated for burns to his face and right hand and arm caused by the high velocity wind lashing his upper torso.

Preliminary reports from investigators suggest broken engine parts shattered the window (above)

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in the US is leading the investigation into the incident.

The move is in line with international aviation rules, as the Boeing jet was assembled in America.

A preliminary report from the agency has found the fan blade broke – though the reason for this has not yet been determined.

Maintenance records show the blades in the right engine had been inspected in May 2026 and November 2025, with no damage found.

But flight crews had reported four suspected bird strikes to the same engine over the previous year, according to the NTSB.

Bird remains were found after two of them.

Ryanair earlier this month said it would not comment further until the NTSB investigation is complete.

CrossCountry cancels 'almost all' UK train services

The disruption began (Saturday, August 22) following a power cut at the company’s control centre in Birmingham, which has left many essential railway management systems unavailable.

The disruption is affecting most routes, including services between Glasgow and Penzance, as well as Leeds and Manchester.

A CrossCountry spokesman said: “While we will run as many trains as possible, passengers should expect significant reductions to services and cancellations across almost all CrossCountry routes throughout the day.

“We are sorry to passengers affected by this significant and unforeseen disruption.

“We are working closely with relevant partners and will provide further updates as soon as possible.”

Transport secretary Heidi Alexander said: “I am concerned to hear about a power outage affecting CrossCountry rail services today, which I know will be very frustrating to passengers.

“I’ve asked publicly owned operators to lay on extra services where possible.

“We’ve also sent Network Rail power teams who are onsite and working to restore power and systems as soon as possible.”

What CrossCountry services are impacted?

Most services are cancelled until further notice – including popular routes linking Glasgow to Edinburgh, Manchester to Birmingham, Cheltenham to Cardiff and Newcastle to Edinburgh.

A near-normal service is expected between Peterborough, Cambridge and Stansted Airport “due to the impact of planned engineering work”, CrossCountry said.

Chiltern Railways said it had added services between Birmingham Moor Street and Oxford to help with the disruption, adding it will accept “all CrossCountry tickets via any reasonable route”.

London North Eastern Railway also confirmed it would accept CrossCountry tickets “to help get affected customers to their destination”.

What can CrossCountry customers do?

CrossCountry has apologised to customers via social media, advising them of alternative routes.

Passengers are advised to check their journeys using National Rail Enquiries before travelling.

Tickets dated for Sunday, August 23, can be used with other train operators on the same route and will remain valid on CrossCountry services until Wednesday, August 26.

Passengers delayed by 30 minutes or more are eligible for Delay Repay compensation, and those who choose not to travel can claim a refund.

The disruption has prompted frustration among travellers, with some describing the cancellations as “very frustrating.”

Thousands struggling without power in Gary, Indiana 12 days after severe storms

Published

on

Anthony Lewis repairs a generator at his home while coping without electricity, as thousands of residents remain without power more than a week after severe storms struck Gary, Indiana.

Shatiya Hardin, meanwhile, said the situation has been “absolutely horrible”.

“At night we’re sweating, we’re irritable, we have children to look out for, elderly people who need electricity for oxygen tanks,” she told the BBC’s US partner CBS.

“It’s not OK for us to continually be in survival mode.”

Amid mounting frustration, local residents have launched a class-action lawsuit, accusing the utility company Nipsco of failing to manage the trees which brought down the power lines in the storm.

In the lawsuit, resident Jack Tipold said he was in the middle of dental surgery when the power failed.

He said he was forced to abandon the procedure and was discharged without adequate pain medication.

“I had all my teeth removed, and no medication for 48 hours. Let me tell you something, it was a struggle,” he told CBS.

Nipsco has denied wrongdoing and said it would “vigorously” defend itself in court.

Faith leaders alarmed by the ongoing outage held a press conference on Saturday outside a local church.

“We come together today with one voice, asking those who have the power… to release the resources to our brothers and our sisters, our mothers and our fathers, because 12 days is long enough,” he said, according to the Indianapolis Star.
