Burnley rescue late point, Wolves lose 2-0
Burnley lifted some of the pressure on Scott Parker with a late leveller, but there was no respite for Rob Edwards and bottom club Wolves.
Armando Broja scored an injury-time equaliser as Burnley ended their seven-match losing run with a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.
Having seen a Jaidon Anthony goal ruled out for offside late in the first half, Burnley looked set to suffer an eighth successive defeat when Antoine Semenyo, heavily linked with a move away from Bournemouth with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United thought to be interested, put the Cherries ahead.
Semenyo bent into the bottom-right corner from just inside the area, but Broja lifted some of the pressure on Scott Parker when he rose unmarked to head in the leveller, though Burnley are still five points adrift of safety in second bottom.
Wolves 0-2 Brentford
Any thought of Wolves staying in the Premier League is already long gone, and their wait for a first win of the season continues after Keane Lewis-Potter’s double condemned Rob Edwards’ side to yet another defeat.
Lewis-Potter fired into the bottom-left corner after Wolves failed to deal with a long ball into the box to give Brentford a 63rd-minute lead.
Twenty minutes later, he stretched to steer home Mikel Damsgaard’s right-wing delivery and give the visitors complete command.
Wolves were given a lifeline when Caiomhin Kelleher brought down Matt Doherty in the area, but the goalkeeper redeemed himself by saving Jorgen Strand Larsen’s penalty.
Elsewhere, Brighton and Hove Albion and Sunderland played out a dour 0-0 draw. The Black Cats are 10 points behind City, who moved at least temporarily top of the table with a comfortable 3-0 win over West Ham.
