Mark Yusko believes Bitcoin could be approaching one of the most important turning points of the current crypto cycle. After falling roughly 51% from its highs, much of the speculative leverage that normally makes Bitcoin vulnerable has already been flushed out, while large holders are beginning to accumulate again.
In this video, Morgan Creek Capital founder Mark Yusko explains why he believes the current crypto winter could begin ending around early October, potentially setting the stage for what he calls “crypto spring.”
Yusko’s argument starts with valuation. Using his Metcalfe’s Law framework, he believes Bitcoin is currently trading below its underlying network value. That is one reason he says he has been gradually accumulating Bitcoin every week since February and expects to continue doing so through roughly October.
Another important signal is whale behavior. Large Bitcoin holders have started increasing their positions again, suggesting that long-term investors are willing to accumulate while broader market sentiment remains cautious.
Yusko also points out that this Bitcoin downturn has been significantly smaller than previous crypto bear markets. Earlier cycles produced declines of more than 70% and even 80%, while this cycle’s drawdown has been closer to 51%. He believes one reason is that much of the excessive leverage was already removed from the market.
But Yusko’s most interesting prediction concerns what could happen if global stock markets suffer a major correction.
Rather than automatically assuming Bitcoin would collapse alongside equities, Yusko believes a severe market sell-off could potentially send some capital toward Bitcoin as investors search for alternative stores of value. He argues that Bitcoin may increasingly begin behaving more like a safe-haven asset, particularly because the speculative leverage that amplified previous crypto crashes is much lower today.
That does not mean Bitcoin cannot fall another 10%, 15%, or even 20%. Yusko openly acknowledges that possibility. His broader argument is that the structure of the market has changed, and another equity shock may not produce the same catastrophic crypto liquidation seen in earlier cycles.
