Charli XCX has made her most daring move yet as the cover girl for Playboy.

The 365 Party Girl poses on the cover with her legs against a headboard, wearing just her black underwear and some high heels, with her head tilted back.

The rest of the shoot sees Charli, 34, in lacy corset lingerie and a sheer nightgown-thong combination that would make even pin-up-inspired Sabrina Carpenter blush.

One snap sees her with her mouth open, holding her face, in an incredibly close-up picture stylised to look like a 90s VHS tape.

‘I feel sexy in underwear, and I feel sexy in a fully tailored suit,’ Charli told the outlet. ‘When I feel sexy, I feel confident. Sex, sexuality, and confidence are all very sacred things to me. If I could feel them on the max, all the time, then I would.’

Charli, who released the song Playboy Bunny earlier this year, said she’s most confident while on stage or with her husband George Daniel, 36.

The couple are ‘casual and relaxed’ about their marriage, an ethos in line with her cool girl persona, she told Kylie Jenner in the interview.

‘It means a lot to us, but also at the same time, it’s like we could completely do without it, and we kind of would be as equally in love if we weren’t married,’ she said.

‘It fits, but it’s not like a high-pressure kind of a word for me.’

Charli’s Playboy debut comes after she declared in June that it was the end of Brat summer with a nearly nude snap, promising ‘something horny’ was on the way.

She then released her seventh studio album, Music, Fashion, Film, on July 24, featuring a different sound and aesthetic to her previous bright green era.

Her ‘horny’ era comes as Playboy has rebranded and promised a more ‘inclusive’ version of the once controversial magazine.

The quarterly print has so far featured Karol G and Cara Delevingne, with Charli marking the third cover girl in this new phase.

Model Cara, 33, wore a black latex corset and nothing else for her cover, with just a strategically placed hand hiding anything too scandalous.

In her interview, she discussed the ‘very heterosexual institution’ that is the bunny brand, having donned some ears and a tail for other snaps.

‘That’s why it felt like a bit of a rebellious thing to do, and to have an incredible female-led creative team—a lot of them being queer—felt really fun and different,’ she said.

Cara, who revealed she now labels herself as a lesbian in May, also shared how she is ‘sex sober’ after years of partying.

‘I used to put a higher value on sex and validation from people. I used to think, “Oh, I’m a pervert. I’m a really horny person”,’ she said.

‘But I think [I was] seeking love and validation through sex’.

Phillip Picardi, who is the new Editor-in-chief, made a distinction between Playboy and porn, saying the 73-year-old brand is about ‘portraying the art of desire’.

He explained: ‘There’s always been a difference between Playboy and porn, especially the kinds of porn that are really prevalent today and that people have access to just by having a Twitter account or a Reddit account… and so I actually found the challenge of bringing back an artfulness and a thoughtfulness to nudity to be super exciting as a creative.’

In this new era, Playmates and cover stars are given full control over how much of their body they want to show and are involved in the creative process.

Sir Paul McCartney’s ex Heather Mills has shared that 70 Up star Tony Walker was the ‘courageous cabbie’ who helped save her after a horrific road accident in 1993

Sir Paul McCartney’s ex-wife Heather Mills has shared how 70 Up star Tony Walker helped get her help after she was knocked down by a motorcycle in 1993. The accident resulted in an amputation of the star’s leg.

Heather, 58, was walking in Kensington when she was hit by a police motorcycle that was responding to an emergency call. The then model, who would later marry Paul McCartney, suffered from several injuries, including crushed ribs and a punctured lung. The damage to her left leg was so severe that it was amputated six inches below the knee.

In an instagram story, Heather revealed that one of the people who came to her rescue was 70 Up star Tony. She told fans that she was “excited” to see him in the documentary Seven Up’s final edition. She shared a video of her and Tony from last year and said: “Excited to see my friend Tony on TV tomorrow night. Make sure you don’t miss it.

“We bumped into each other in London last year for the first time since my accident, and he was kind enough to talk me through the full story from his perspective. I can’t believe the same courageous cabbie picked up my leg and put it in an ice bucket. He’s one of my heroes.”

Heather added that the video of the two of them together was shot at the same pub where Tony had gotten a barrel to stick her leg in. The video had appeared on her Instagram in 2025, when it was taken. In it, Tony said meeting Heather again was like “fate”.

“You were there and I was there,” he said. “You didn’t recognise me because I never introduced myself. I said, ‘You don’t remember me, do you?’

“As soon as I said that, your whole demeanour changed and you realised who I was to you. I said ‘Please can I kiss you?’ I came up and kissed you on your cheek and gave you a cuddle of reassurance because I haven’t seen you since the day of your accident.”

Heather explained what happened as she remembered it: “I was walking down the street and this guy yells ‘Heather Mills’ out the taxi and jumped out. He then burst into tears and said ‘Oh my God, I’ve watched your story and I can’t believe you survived.’”

Following her accident, Heather underwent several surgeries to instal a metal plate in her pelvis and make her amputated leg easier to move with. With the money she earned in compensation for the accident and from talking to the press, she set up the Heather Mills Heath Trust, which operated from 2000-2004 to give prosthetic limbs to people who lost them after stepping on land mines.

In 2002, she married Paul McCartney, whom she met in 1999. The two were married for four years and had one child together, born in 2003. The two separated in 2006, after which Heather blamed Paul’s daughter Stella, calling her “jealous”. The divorce proceedings were tense and did not end amicably.

Meanwhile, Tony appeared in Tuesday’s episode of 70 Up, where he spoke about his childhood dream of becoming a jockey. The cab driver said he was told his weight would be an issue. “My governor said, ‘I’ve got faith in you Tony, but you’re going to find it hard’. I asked him why, and he said, ‘Your weight’.

“I said, ‘I’m 8st2 governor, and he said, ‘I know but you’re getting lumpy now, you’re getting bigger’. I thought about my weight, I thought about the ambition, the longevity, and I thought, that’s me blown. I went out again, it broke my heart.”

A body has been found in a lake in the search for missing three-year-old Noah Woods. 

The toddler, who was non-verbal, partially deaf and being assessed for autism, vanished from a playground in the tiny village of Brantham, Suffolk, yesterday. 

Superintendent Tom Pearse from Suffolk Constabulary said dive teams recovered the body of a child, believed to be Noah, from Decoy Pond this afternoon. 

He said the death was being treated as unexplained but not suspicious and that Noah’s family had been informed.

Police released CCTV images of Noah’s last movements earlier today, which showed him playing on a roundabout near to his home just after 2.30pm on Tuesday.  

He is believed to have run off from a relative shortly afterwards, before disappearing down an alleyway that leads to a new-build housing estate, a lake and a railway line.

This morning, police cordoned off Decoy Pond in Brantham and a nearby footpath, as specialist divers searched the water. 

More than 1,300 people joined in to help with the hunt for Noah with Superintendent Pearse saying the force had been ‘overwhelmed by the outpouring of public support’.

‘As a parent myself, I completely understand why people would want to help and such a response is one that typifies the strong sense of community and the heartwarming nature of Suffolk people that make the county such a special place,’ he said. 

Many of those who had helped with the search for Noah were in tears at the news a body had been found. 

Georgia Terry, 30, a carer who had rushed over from Clacton in Essex after work to help, said: ‘We started further afield at first but thought he’d have to be close [to where he went missing].

‘It just makes your blood run cold. In the blink of an eye, as well. It’s dreadful.’

A man in his 30s, who was walking with a young girl, wiped his eyes as he said: ‘It sounded bad from the start but we had to come because there’s always hope. It looks like that’s gone now.

‘I can’t imagine what Noah’s family are going through. It’s the worst news. The worst.’

Residents had been urged to check their gardens, sheds and outbuildings, and those with CCTV or doorbell cameras have been asked to review the footage.

Noah’s devastated father, Rhys Woods, this morning pleaded with the public to help, saying he ‘cannot go another night knowing he’s out there alone’ and urging people not to give up hope.

Posting to Facebook, Mr Woods said: ‘We still have nothing, all the emergency services and all of you have shown how strong this community is, with people coming from far and wide also.

‘The emergency services are very confident that the high risk areas (Decoy pond, railway lines) are all clear.

Noah’s great-uncle, Tony Malcolm, who was part of the search team, described him as ‘a lovely little kid’.

Today, volunteers could be seen in hi-vis jackets helping to search the area, with efforts being co-ordinated from the village hall and a local leisure centre.

Searchers were briefed at the village hall by parish clerk, Sarah Keys, who told them: ‘Please remember we are searching for a frightened three-year-old boy.’

They have been told not to grab or approach Noah if they find him, but instead to call police on 999 immediately and give their exact location using the What3Words app.

Ms Keys said around 500 people had stayed up all night to carry on searching for Noah.

Right now, your brain is recognising the shapes of these letters, analysing their meaning, and holding a stream of thought together – all on about 20 watts of power. That’s roughly what it takes to run a lightbulb.

Yet reproducing even a small fraction of the brain’s capabilities using today’s AI systems can require vast computing infrastructure and energy.

Neuromorphic computing – also known as “brain-inspired computing” – is an attempt to close that gap. Not by making today’s computers slightly more efficient, but by fundamentally rethinking how they should work.

The human brain holds roughly 86 billion neurons, wired to each other through junctions called synapses. A neuron receives signals from its neighbours; when their combined effect crosses a threshold, it will fire a brief electrical pulse known as a spike.

Two things make this process efficient. First, energy is spent only where it’s needed, not everywhere constantly. Second, memory and processing are intertwined in the strength of each synapse’s response. The brain doesn’t have to pause and go find information, saving both time and energy.

In contrast, in an ordinary computer chip, the processor and memory are physically separate, so every calculation entails transferring data between them. This can account for a substantial share of energy use – known as the Von Neumann bottleneck, a term first used by US computer scientist John Backus in 1978 to describe this computing inefficiency.

Neuromorphic computing tackles this inefficiency in several ways: bringing memory and processing closer together, using “sparse representations” (data models where most values are zero), and performing computation only when events occur.

This is known as event-driven computing – and we are already seeing some exciting applications.

Sensors modelled on human retina

Event cameras are sensors modelled on the human retina. Their pixels respond individually and only when they detect a change in the scene – rather than capturing a full frame dozens of times a second, like a smartphone or video camera.

The result is a neuromorphic sensor that uses a fraction of the power, handles fast motion without blur, and works equally well in bright sunlight and near-total darkness.

In autonomous vehicles, this combination of low latency and reliable performance in glare or darkness could be the difference between detecting a pedestrian in time, or not. And in space, where power is scarce and lighting extremes are common, event cameras have already been deployed for object and debris tracking.

It might be tempting to ask if neuromorphic hardware could do for computing what Nvidia’s graphics processing units (GPUs) have done for AI. But these are fundamentally different kinds of chip.

Nvidia’s GPUs are exceptionally good at the dense, repetitive maths behind deep learning, which has made them the default choice for almost any AI task. In contrast, neuromorphic computing’s event-driven approach looks likely to spawn a wide range of specialised chips, rather than a single winner-takes-all design that everyone adopts at once.

Australia’s BrainChip already sells a commercial neuromorphic processor for powering cameras and sensors that need to run at very low power. Expect neuromorphic hardware to sit alongside conventional processors and GPUs rather than replacing them, taking on the jobs where its efficiency edge is decisive.

Sensitive information

But there is another advantage to neuromorphic computer technology beyond energy saving.

Because neuromorphic chips can process data right where it’s generated, sensitive information from wearables, smart cameras, and medical sensors can stay on the device instead of travelling to the cloud, potentially reducing privacy and cybersecurity risks associated with data transmission.

Devices can also work offline, without needing to send data to a distant server and wait for a reply. Cutting out that round trip matters wherever split-second decisions are required, such as in autonomous vehicles, drones, and robots operating beyond reliable signal.

This won’t make data centres redundant. But fewer tasks may need one in future, and those that remain could become dramatically more efficient. IBM has already demonstrated energy savings of up to 10,000-fold on event-driven tasks, compared with conventional digital architectures, with its TrueNorth chip.

Rethinking how computing works

Computing has been through a transition like this before. The first computers filled entire rooms and drew as much power as a small factory. Today, however, a chip smaller than a fingernail in the phone in your pocket is far more capable.

Neuromorphic computing raises the possibility of a similar shift – driven less by cramming in more transistors (the tiny switches that make up a chip’s circuitry) than by rethinking how computing should work in the first place.

But turning this promise into everyday infrastructure will take sustained effort. At NeuroWare, the UK’s leading multi-university innovation hub for neuromorphic computing, I have led the development of a UK roadmap for this technology up to 2050, working with colleagues across academia, industry and government.

With the global market for neuromorphic technology forecast to nearly quadruple to US$20 billion (£14.8 billion) by 2030, the UK needs open-access facilities to prototype new chips, coordinated investment, common standards – and a workforce trained to bridge neuroscience, electronics and computer science.

The foundations are already here. What’s missing is the infrastructure to take neuromorphic computing from supercomputers such as the University of Manchester’s brain simulator, SpiNNaker, to the billions of ordinary devices that could one day use brain-inspired hardware for themselves.

Your brain solved this problem millions of years ago. It’s taken science a long time to appreciate just how well it works.

Noah Woods went missing from Merriam Close Playground in Brantham at 2.37pm on Tuesday, September 15.

He was separated from a relative and reported to have run off down the alleyway beside the playground towards a nearby new-build housing estate.

A large scale search was launched in response involving numerous emergency services.

Thousands of volunteers from the local area and further afield joined the search overnight and into Wednesday.

However, Suffolk police confirmed a body has been found in Decoy Pond.

Formal identification is yet to take place but the family has been informed.

Superintendent Tom Pearse said: “These five teams this afternoon have sadly found a body of a child in Decoy Pond in Brantham.

“Formal identification is yet to take place. The family of Noah Woods has been informed of these developments.

“The discovery of the body is currently being treated as not suspicious but unexplained. The coroner will be informed of this development.”

What a fortnight it’s been for Nigel Farage. There have been crushing lows and giddy highs; joy crumbling into heartache; eye-popping success followed by stomach-churning disaster.

Let’s start with a recap. September 3 was the first day of Reform UK’s conference in Birmingham, which was billed as the moment the party would set out its plans for the first 100 days in power.

It was also the day Channel 4 decided to air that astonishing sting by undercover journalists posing as dodgy donors wanting to help the party out. Farage and co lost two top officials as a result, then spent the next two days firefighting and denying any wrongdoing.

By the time everyone was on the train home from the National Exhibition Centre, it looked like Reform was deep in crisis with no clear way out.  

Then, less than a week later, there was a reversal in fortune of historic proportions: two £36 million donations from Ben Delo and Christopher Harborne, a pair of crypto billionaires and frequent Reform backers.

Cue days of discourse around political donations, and hints from the government that at least some of the money may need to be handed back when new rules targeting overseas donors come into effect.

Amid all that speculation, the news dropped yesterday afternoon that Reform’s leader in Wales, Dan Thomas, had stepped down after being arrested on suspicion of assault and coercive or controlling behaviour. (He’s since been bailed pending further enquiries.)

That revelation conjured up unwelcome reminders of Nathan Gill, the party’s previous Welsh leader who’s currently in prison for pro-Russia bribery.

Simultaneously, it was announced that Senedd member Sarah Cooper-Lesadd had defected from Reform to Plaid Cymru. And three Reform councillors in Durham also subsequently quit the party.

Meanwhile, they released a really terrible phone game.

So yes – it’s been quite a fortnight for Nigel Farage. With all that in mind, you might have expected some sort of impact on his party’s polling figures.

But that hasn’t happened. Most of the main pollsters still put Reform within touching distance of Labour, even after the so-called Burnham bounce. According to YouGov, for example, the two parties have been neck-and-neck on 23% for three weeks.

More in Common chief Luke Tryl told Metro that we should ‘expect Reform’s floor to remain high’, because the ‘fundamental drivers’ of its vote – such as the sense the system is rigged – haven’t gone away.

As the polling boss points out, though, parties don’t get into government on the strength of their base. They must reach out to others – in Reform’s case, that includes some who may be more risk averse.

That was the intention behind the ‘100 days’ theme of the conference: projecting a sense of sober control and careful planning.

The ups and downs of this month so far may have caused a fair bit of damage to that effort. But then again, who knows where we’ll be in in another fortnight?

The incident happened at around 3.35pm on Saturday afternoon

A delivery driver was threatened with a knife during an armed robbery in West Belfast over the weekend.

At around 3.35pm on Saturday afternoon, September 12, a delivery driver was targeted in the Roumania Rise area at its junction with Servia Street.

The driver had been delivering parcels and when he returned to his van, found three men standing at it with the rear door open. One of the men approached the driver with what is believed to have been a knife, while the other two men removed parcels from the vehicle.

Following this, the three men fled the scene. Police have issued an appeal for information and witnesses of the incident to get in touch.

Detective Sergeant Barnes said: “Police received a report that at approximately 3.35pm on Saturday afternoon, 12th September a delivery driver was targeted in the Roumania Rise area at its junction with Servia Street.

“It’s reported the driver had been delivering parcels in the vicinity when he returned to his van to discover three men standing at it, and with the rear door open.

“One of the men, dressed in a black tracksuit and with his face covered, approached the driver with an object – believed to be have been a knife – while the two other men removed a number of parcels from the vehicle.

“All three men then fled the scene with the stolen goods – thankfully no injuries were reported.

“This would have been a frightening experience for the driver – that happened at a time of day when people would have been going about their everyday business.

“We’re appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw any suspicious activity, or who might have any CCTV, dash-cam or other footage which could assist with enquiries, to get in touch.

“You can contact us on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1177 12/09/26.”
