Marvel recently released one of the most successful movies in franchise history with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but another film near the top of that same list is finding renewed success on streaming. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, has grossed well over $2 billion at the global box office. Holland and Bernthal also had key roles in Christopher Nolan’s new highest-grossing movie, The Odyssey, which has helped both of their career box office totals exceed $4 billion this year. Marvel Studios started the year strong with the new TV release of Wonder Man, but the show was canceled after only one season after initially being renewed. Marvel’s Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali was also canceled around the same time.
When you think of the most successful Marvel movies of all time, obviously one of the first projects that comes to mind is Avengers: Endgame — it’s one of the highest-grossing movies ever. However, the movie that set the stage for Endgame was Avengers: Infinity War, and while it didn’t earn as much at the box office as its predecessor, most critics and fans would agree that Infinity War is a much better movie. Marvel is officially returning to the world of Avengers movies later this year with Avengers: Doomsday, and fans are doing all the prep they need to get caught up. Avengers: Infinity War has surged back into the Disney Plus top 10 as one of the most-watched movies in the world, along with Endgame. Both films are must-watch masterpieces before the MCU returns to event filmmaking later this year on December 18.
How Much Did ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Make at the Box Office?
Avengers: Infinity War is one of the few movies in history to make $2 billion at the global box office, but it looked for a while like it might not reach that milestone. The movie made $678 million at the domestic box office, but it was in international markets where it truly shined, earning more than $1.36 billion during its entire run. The film also features an all-time great villain performance from Josh Brolin as Thanos — rumors indicate that Brolin will return as Thanos in Avengers: Doomsday, but this has yet to be officially confirmed.
