Michelle Williams is hitting the books again after putting college aside decades ago to pursue her music career.

The Destiny’s Child alum revealed that she is now a sophomore at Regent University, where she is studying psychology. Williams announced the news on Instagram alongside a photo of herself wearing a shirt bearing the Virginia-based Christian university’s name.

“Chiiiiiiiiile, your girl is back in school!!” she wrote.

Williams admitted she initially hesitated to make her return to college public. The singer said she had not even told some family members and friends because she feared she might not complete her studies. However, the 47-year-old is determined to see this through. “I’m going to finish, and I’m going to finish strong,” Williams declared.

Williams also poked fun at her choice of major, joking that she is studying psychology “because y’all need help!” She praised her professors and advisers before asking fans to pray for her “endurance and focus.”

The singer’s latest academic pursuit comes nearly three decades after her first attempt at earning a degree.

She graduated from Rockford Auburn High School in Illinois in 1997 before enrolling at Illinois State University. At the time, she chose criminal justice as her major because she wasn’t sure singing could provide a viable career.

Williams ultimately spent two years at the university before music presented another path, as she left school and began working as a backing vocalist, including touring with R&B singer Monica.

Man Arrested In Connection To Tasia Fortune’s Death

Jackson police said late Tuesday (Sept. 22) that they arrested 25-year-old Earnest Lloyd Jr. in the death of 29-year-old Tasia Fortune. As said, her body was found hanging behind an abandoned home in the city on Aug. 3.

Like Fortune and the first man arrested, 51-year-old Jarques Ratliff, Lloyd is Black. Lloyd appeared at a brief hearing on Wednesday in Jackson, Mississippi. Meanwhile, Ratliff was arrested earlier this month on murder charges. He pleaded not guilty and remains jailed without bond.

Tasia’s Mom Reacts To Second Arrest In Daughter’s Passing

Fortune’s mother, Christy Spivey, who attended the recent hearing, said afterward that she was ecstatic to see arrests made in her daughter’s death. She said that neither she nor several of her daughter’s friends knew Lloyd. Additionally, she cautioned that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

“My family is not the only family that this is affecting,” Christy Spivey said of the defendants’ families. “I feel for them as well. The only difference is that mine can never come back.” She added, “I’ll never truly have peace.”

A Kentucky native, Tasia Fortune had four children and had been living in Jackson for about a decade, relatives said. Spivey previously said her daughter struggled with homelessness in recent years, and that she wasn’t sure where her daughter was living at the time of her death. She said that before her death, her daughter had talked about starting a cleaning business and was trying to get her life in order.

Police Is Looking For A Third Suspect 

Mississippi police said in a statement that they issued an arrest warrant for a third suspect. However, they gave no details about that person’s identity or alleged link to Tasia Fortune’s death. They also said they expect to issue additional warrants.

After the arrest of Jarques Ratliff (the first suspect), Jackson’s police chief, RaShall Brackney, said Ratliff had an “association” with Fortune but didn’t elaborate.

Police haven’t suggested a possible motive for the killing or said whether they think race played a role. Still, the case has attracted widespread attention because the manner of death recalled lynchings in the Southern state.

Family Says They Discovered A Devastating Mix-Up

According to the family, things took a heartbreaking turn when they arrived at the funeral home ahead of Moore’s scheduled viewing. Her daughter, Bianca Robinson, said she was preparing to add her mother’s nails and lashes when funeral home staff opened the body bag — only for her to realize the woman inside was not her mother.

Robinson recalled noticing that a distinguishing mark on the woman’s toe did not match her mother’s. She told local outlet WXYZ that when she questioned the staff, she was allegedly told Moore may have been cremated shortly after arriving at the funeral home because two women had arrived around the same time. The family says staff suggested an identification mix-up may have occurred after Moore’s toe tag allegedly became wet and fell off.

Family Says They Never Received Moore’s Remains

And that realization reportedly left the family facing a heartbreaking reality: the viewing and funeral they had planned could no longer happen as expected. The family said they intended to hold Moore’s viewing and funeral before cremating her, but after discovering the wrong body, they said they did not have Moore’s remains or ashes.

In a video shared on social media, Don Lemon spoke out about the reported mix-up, expressing disbelief over how such a serious error could happen. “I mean, I’m sorry. How do you make a mistake like that? That’s just really unacceptable,” Lemon said, as he reacted to the family’s disturbing discovery.

Funeral Home Says It’s Heartbroken And Deeply Sorry”

The funeral home, identified as Hutchison Funeral Home, has since launched an internal review into the situation. Furthermore, Joseph Hutchison Jr., the funeral home’s vice president of operations, told WXYZ that the establishment was investigating the matter. And, in a statement shared to Click On Detroit, the establishment said it was “heartbroken and deeply sorry” for what Moore’s family experienced:

“We are aware of the family’s concerns and we will continue to communicate with them honestly and respectfully,” the statement from Hutchison Funeral Home revealed. “We have launched our own internal review to determine exactly what happened and we will deal with it accordingly. Out of respect for Ms. Moore and her family, we ask that their privacy be honored during this time. We will share more when we can.”

But when it comes to iconic sci-fi trilogies, the final entry in the Dune saga shouldn’t be the only title on your big-screen radar. Alongside this special 4DX re-release, you can celebrate Back to the Future with Back to the Future: The Complete Screenplay, a new book from Bob Gale. The special release will feature Gale’s personal shooting script, complete with revision pages, handwritten notes, deleted scenes, rare photos, sketches, production documents, and much more. “This is going to be really instructional about how movies are made, how scripts are written,” Gale said in an interview. “The mistakes are in there, the deleted scenes are in there, the stuff that we changed, stuff that we thought we were going to do that we didn’t do. It’s chock full of stuff like that.”

The show also moved beyond traditional menswear. Tweed midi skirts, black kilts, shimmering minidresses and long tunics appeared alongside leggings and leather details. The overall collection carried a rock-and-roll attitude.

A new video shows the moments before Arizona State hockey player Matthew Mayich collapsed during a controversial outdoor team workout last month, leaving him in the hospital with “zero chance of recovery.”

The video, obtained and published by Arizona’s Family on Tuesday, September 22, features Green Beret Tim Ziesel running the workout on the field outside ASU’s ice rink on August 20. 

“Those teams that have won, they’re soft,” Ziesel can be heard telling the players as they performed planks on the ground. “Because that’s what winning does to you. It makes you soft!”

Ziesel then commanded the players to perform push-ups, with some of the players noticeably struggling.

Shortly after the video was taken, Mayich, 21, collapsed due to a heat stroke. In an exclusive interview with Us earlier this month, the Mayich family’s attorney, Robert Carey, acknowledged “no good outcome is coming.”

A report issued by Arizona State University on Tuesday revealed temperatures at the time of the workout “ranged from 86 degrees to 89 degrees F with a relative humidity of 51 percent to 46 percent.”

During the workout, Mayich became dizzy and disoriented before suffering “exertional heat stroke that caused a lack of oxygen to the brain,” according to Carey. The attorney told Us he’s “confident” Mayich did not receive water throughout the nearly-hour long workout, which ASU’s report refuted. 

“ASU Hockey staff ordered short-sleeved, light-colored shirts for them to wear with shorts during the event, and the athletic trainer brought water for the student-athletes to drink as well as a cooler with iced towels,” the report said. ”A break was taken approximately 20 minutes into the event for the student-athletes to drink water.”

James Rund, ASU’s Senior Vice President, Educational Outreach and Student Services, added in the report, “All of the student-athletes who participated in the event had been medically cleared for athletics participation prior to the event. This included Matthew, who had arrived in Tempe from his home in Canada eight days earlier (on August 12) and been medically cleared by the team physician and the athletic trainer after a pre-participation physical examination.”

Despite the alleged precautions, the report acknowledged the ASU hockey team “did not submit a plan of training activities for review by ASU’s strength and conditioning coaches prior to the event.”

“What the report doesn’t say is what the players will tell you: this was a punishment workout,” Carey said. “Miss a count, your group runs again. The head coach set it up, stood there and watched it, and didn’t stop it when the signs were there. And when Matthew went down, there was no plan and no preparation, so he was treated in a way that hurt his chances rather than helped them.”

The lawyer continued, “The report does settle one thing. The coach said the workout was planned for ninety minutes and cut short at forty-five. ASU’s own timeline has Matthew on that field for more than eighty minutes, in a grueling workout with almost no water, with no acclimation to anything like it, eight days off a plane from Canada, and nobody doing their job on safety or ready for an emergency.”

Arizona State is scheduled to open the season on October 2 at Lindenwood. 

Collin Gosselin’s decision to join Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test was influenced by more than just one factor.

“I mean, a part of me for a long time was like, ‘I’m gonna prove my mom wrong after everything she did to me as a kid,’” Collin, 22, exclusively shared with Us before the show’s season 5 premiere on Thursday, September 24. “But at a certain point, it’s not for her — this journey, saying yes and going out in the jungle — this was for me.”

When Special Forces premiered in 2023, Kate Gosselin was the first celebrity contestant out of the competition when she was medically withdrawn in the first episode.

As season 5 kicks off this month, Collin is determined to complete more tasks than his estranged mom.

“Looking back, it’s been a couple of months, but I feel like I learned and grew so much, and I did this for me and for all the children who are part of the mission I’m on,” Collin explained to Us. “I just want to show them you can be strong. You can be a warrior and push through and keep going. That’s who I did it for. Not for her.”

Collin grew up in the spotlight when his parents, Kate, 51, and Jon Gosselin, appeared on the TLC reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8. When his parents divorced in 2009, Collin remained on TV thanks to Kate Plus 8.

He later moved in with his father full-time and began speaking out about the alleged abuse he experienced from his mother. (Kate’s lawyer shared in a 2024 interview with Fox News that she would not be responding to the allegations.)

Collin is expected to share his story about “truth, survival, resilience and finding my voice after years of being silenced” in the upcoming book titled In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood. 

While filming Special Forces, Collin was grateful to build such strong connections with his fellow contestants, including Ruby Rose. The bonds formed while filming pushed him to keep going.

“There’s nothing else out there besides the people around you,” he shared. “That bond we shared — at the end of the day we’d all sit on our cots and talk, and that’s what kept me going — that community is really all you have out there.”

When asked if Jon, 49, could ever join the show in the future, Collin made it clear that he doesn’t see the DJ traveling to the jungle to complete demanding training exercises led by an elite team of ex-special forces operatives.

“He wouldn’t do it,” Collin said. “After I told him everything when I came back home, he was like, ‘I’m glad I didn’t do that. I would never want to do that. Not for me.’”
