I bought everything from Mrs Hinch’s new Home Bargains range
I USUALLY fill my trolley with jumbo size cleaning products and multipacks of sweets whenever I visit Home Bargains – but not today.
I’m here to check out cleaning influencer Sophie Hinchliffe’s, (aka Mrs Hinch) hotly anticipated new home range – well some items are SO popular they’ve sold out in minutes, others are simply not worth the hype.
It’s no surprise that Mrs Hinch has launched her first ever home range – she’s previously teamed up with Tesco for an F&F clothing range, and a cleaning product range with Home Bargains, so branching out into homeware seems an obvious next step.
She’s following in the footsteps of celebs including Stacey Solomon Rita Ora and Holly Willoughby, who have all had special ranges with high street giants including Asda, Next and Dunelm.
Mrs Hinch’s range includes tableware, basket storage, lamps, bedding and candles and launched in stores two weeks ago – but fans have mixed reviews.
Some shoppers have called the range “a bit beige” and “soulless”, while others have said its “lovely” and “well worth it”.
I’m here in my local store in Maidstone, Kent, to see for myself whether it’s worth the hype or one to miss.
Two items to buy… and two to avoid
Mrs Hinch’s range is at the back of the store and there’s all-sorts – tableware, basket storage, lamps, fake flowers, bedding, glassware and candles.
The colours are mostly neutral with cream, beige and a touch of blue and black – so won’t likely be your cup of tea if you’re looking for statement pieces.
Home Bargains advertises the range as “thoughtfully curated pieces for every room”.
Many of the items feature a signature elegant ‘H’ on them.
And whilst I like a bit of colour, I was drawn in by the simplicity of Mrs Hinch’s display – great for creating a calming ambiance.
I start loading up my trolley and one of the first items I choose is a small glass vase with some fake flower sprigs – it’s really pretty, perfect for a coffee table, shelf or by the bed.
There’s no scent but perfect Spring vibes and a good price at £7.99.
The candles and reed diffusers smell divine, subtle and refreshing and both look way more expensive than they are, thanks to the good quality jars and wooden lids, so I snap up one large candle for £7.99, one small for £3.99 and a £4.99 reed diffuser.
If I didn’t know I would have thought these were designer items.
The double duvet set is £22.99 and comes in one neutral, striped design. I’m not super impressed by the price as shops like Habitat are selling prettier designs for around £15 this month – and you can even get a posh John Lewis bedding set for less.
But it does feel super soft and I like the neutral, stripey tones.
The £19.99 knitted blue throw is also soft and cosy and the colour would blend in most rooms of my house – so I throw one in the trolley.

The beige photo frame is a bargain at £1.99 and I love the big, blue striped cushion for £14.99, which now sits pride of place on my bed.
The £9.99 lamps are perfect on my bedside tables, too. Whilst beige and simple, they have an elegant look. I did have to buy the bulbs extra, but once in situ, they give off a lovely warm glow.
The items have really updated the look of my room, which was getting very tired and dated.
The tableware is exceptional quality. Beige in colour, each of the dinner plates, side plates and bowls is unique and made with a reactive glaze finish, a special ceramic finish that makes each piece unique, and it makes them look super posh.
A similar plate at John Lewis would cost you £7 or £4 Dunelm, but these are £3.99. In fact, a similar 12 piece set at Dunelm costs £40 but if you picked up 12 Mrs Hinch’s items, it would total just £35.88.
If you want a bog-standard plate though, you’ll find cheaper items at Tesco. If you want something that looks a bit more designer but on a tight budget, Mrs Hinch has got this spot on.
If I were you, steer clear of the ribbed wine glasses, £4.99 for two, and tumblers, £3.99 for two.
You could pick up cheaper ones at a supermarket and these had a slightly plasticky feel that I didn’t like.
I bought two wine glasses and two tumblers, which I later returned.
There were a couple of items I couldn’t get my hands on, including a £2.99 glass tealight holder which went viral and quickly sold out.
These are now being sold on Vinted and eBay for up to £39.99 – £37 more than the original retail price.
Personally I think she’s done a fab job. But if you want to get your hands on any of it, you’ll have to be quick.
There’s only seven items left in stock online and if you want anything else you’ll have to visit your local store.
You can’t check stock online but you can ring your local store to see if they have an item before you make the journey.
Given how little is left on Home Bargains shelves though, I doubt we will have to wait long for Mrs Hinch’s next range.
Lynsey’s verdict:
- Ditch: Ribbed wine glasses and Ribbed tumblers
- Buy: Ceramic dinner plates and candles
