Haaland Names Stars Who Must ‘Take Responsibility’
Erling Haaland has said that he and three of his Manchester City teammates must take more responsibility following their Champions League loss to Bodo/Glimt, with him labelling the result ’embarrassing’.
Pep Guardiola’s side made a disastrous start to the game as Kasper Hogh scored two goals in two minutes to put the Norwegian side in front on the night. And they proceeded to add to their lead in the second half as Jens Petter Hauge notched a third just before the hour mark.
Although Rayan Cherki got one back for City shortly after, matters went from bad to worse moments later as Rodri was sent off for two yellow card offences. Defeat sees City slip to seventh in the table, although they could drop further if teams around them record wins on Wednesday evening.

Haaland Names Three Teammates in Frank Post-Match Interview
Haaland was far from his best on his return to Norway, with the talismanic striker missing a big chance and not managing to register any shots on target over 90 minutes. And the 25-year-old made sure to vent his frustration in his post-match interview.
Speaking to TNT, the Norwegian international said that the team were well below par, before stating that he and three of his teammates were responsible for the result. Naming Rodri, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Tijjani Reijnders, he said that the senior members of the squad needed to do more to ensure levels remained high.
He said: “I take full responsibility together with Rodri, Gigi [Donnarumma], Tijjani [Reijnders] – us experienced players. I don’t want to blame anyone but we need to take more responsibility, because at the end it’s not good enough. We’re Man City, we can’t go around and not win games, it shouldn’t be like this. In the end, it’s well deserved.”
When asked if the team’s mindset was the issue, Haaland went on to say: “I don’t have the answers. I take full responsibility of not being able to score. I just apologise to everyone – every single Man City supporter, every supporter that travelled, because in the end it’s embarrassing.
“Honestly, I don’t know what to say because I don’t have the answers, and what I can say is sorry.”

Guardiola: ‘Everything is Going Wrong’
Pep Guardiola was also asked about the result and the team’s poor performances in recent weeks. City have managed just five wins in their last 10 games in all competitions, dropping Premier League points against Brighton, Chelsea, Sunderland and Manchester United prior to their loss against Bodo/Glimt.
The Spaniard said: “The results since 2025 are not good. In terms of the Premier League and now today.
“There is a feeling that everything is going wrong. Many, many details are going against us, that is a fact and you have to try and change that. But the players are there and are trying.”
