On Monday, April 21, Telegram founder Pavel Durov posted on his channel, responding to fresh pressure from the French government to weaken encryption on apps like Telegram.

France had recently been pushing for backdoor access to messaging platforms. That means they wanted a secret way for law enforcement to read private chats — even if those messages are end-to-end encrypted.

But Durov didn’t hold back.
He said Telegram would rather exit any market than weaken encryption and risk users’ privacy. 🛡️
