» UK AI Sector Struggles as U.S. Startups Lead the Way 🚀 | by CoinGen | Coinmonks | Apr, 2025

Hey tech enthusiasts! 👋
Let’s talk about something that’s making headlines in the AI world — the UK’s AI sector is losing steam, while the U.S. is racing ahead at full throttle. Despite all the government plans and bold ambitions, things aren’t quite adding up for Britain’s AI dream. Let’s break it down in plain English.

The UK government, led by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, wants to make artificial intelligence (AI) a big part of the country’s future economy. They believe AI can boost jobs, solve real-world problems, and help the UK become a global tech leader.

But here’s the problem… it’s not working out that way (yet).

Funding for British tech startups has dropped to its lowest level since before the pandemic. Meanwhile, over in Silicon Valley, investors are pouring billions into U.S. AI startups.

According to recent reports:

  • U.S. startups raised over £65 billion in 2024
  • UK startups only raised £16.2 billion
That’s four times less than the U.S.!

In fact, 57% of all global venture capital in 2024 went to American startups. The UK? Just 4.8%. Ouch.
