66 Years Ago, Frank Sinatra Launched One of The Greatest Record Labels Ever Made
Sixty-six years ago, Frank Sinatra changed the music industry forever by launching Reprise Records. It was an unapologetically bold move that redefined how the industry viewed, and later respected, artist ownership and creative freedom. Already a global superstar, Sinatra broke away from Capitol Records after growing frustration with feeling restricted and even controlled.
Determined that no other musician would feel the same, Sinatra built a label that truly valued its musicians. His bold creation later signing legends including The Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix and Joni Mitchell. It was a courageous, industry-shaking act that empowered generations to come.
Frank Sinatra’s Record Label Gave Him Creative Freedom
Up until 1960, Frank Sinatra was the ultimate crooner. He had starred in fan favorite movies like High Society and Guys and Dolls, and released Come Fly With Me, but he wanted more than a poster boy. Before paving his own way, Sinatra was signed with Capitol Records, but he felt constricted by the big corporation. As one of the biggest musicians on the planet, it was reasonable for Sinatra to want a sense of control over his music if millions were listening. He was no longer a newcomer, he no longer needed guidance. Sinatra had wits, and he was ready to use them.
Reprise Records was launched, and soon after, Sinatra released Ring-a-Ding-Ding! It was very clear that Sinatra was the boss of the label, and legend has it he soon garnered the nickname of Chairman of the Board. While he was CEO, the nickname echoed the ultimate commanding energy Sinatra had. In the first signing of Reprise Records, Sinatra made sure that his nearest and dearest in the community gained the right kind of representation in order for them to feel creatively fulfilled. This included Rat Pack members Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr., but also Bing Crosby, Duke Ellington, and, of course, Nancy Sinatra.
But it was all in the name of creative freedom, liberation, and autonomy. One of the founding principles of Reprise Records was for musical artists to gain full ownership of their work, including publishing rights. This bold move was what set Reprise up as a revolutionary label for its time, and one that still has a more artist-centered ethos than many others today.
Reprise Records Opened the Door For Other Legendary Musicians
Reprise was revolutionary in its music-first philosophy, but it was struggling to be a commercial triumph. In 1963, Warner Bros made a deal with the label, ultimately purchasing two-thirds to make Reprise a subsidiary of Warner Bros. In exchange, Sinatra would be a member of their film stable. Nevertheless, Sinatra remained the owner of a third of Reprise, keeping him a key figure of the label. The true key figure in this negotiation, though, was Reprise president Mo Ostin, who actually went on to chair Warner Bros. Records from 1972 to 1994. The deal ensured Reprise did not lose sight of its foundational principles, and it continued to be a label with musical artists truly at its core.
With Reprise’s cash flow rescued, and the increased powers of distribution and marketing from Warner Bros, Sinatra’s label was ready to make serious moves. The 1960s was a decade of rapid evolution, perhaps the quickest of the entire twentieth century. Mods quickly turned psychedelic, folk shifted into pop, and rock and roll transformed into heavy metal. To keep up with these turbulent times, Reprise soon ensured that their roster expanded from the familiarity of the Rat Pack to adopting the seriously big names of the ‘60s.
Frank Sinatra’s Biggest Hit of All Time Almost Never Happened
The iconic song that almost slipped away from Sinatra’s grasp.
The musical expansion of Reprise included signing Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, and The Beach Boys. The diversification of the label was crucial in Reprise gaining the success that it was beginning to experience. The musicians they represented were young and genuinely cool, and it was obvious through their work that they were afforded an unshackled approach to their writing and performance. Joni Mitchell wrote unapologetically from the heart, refusing to be filtered, Jimi Hendrix was brilliantly unruly, and Neil Young kept his raw acoustic roots close to folk.
By 1976, Reprise entered an era of dormancy, and the label was deactivated except for the discography of Sinatra and Young, who insisted the logo remained on their releases. Most of the artists signed to Reprise at that time ultimately moved over to Warner Bros, but this wasn’t the last chapter for Reprise. In 1987, Ostin announced the reactivation of Reprise Records, and it continues to operate. The label has been on a journey since its formation 66 years ago, but a dedication to prioritizing artists in a sometimes cynical industry takes courage. That courage, led by Sinatra, has truly paid off.

Blueface Denies AGAIN He’s the Biological Dad of Chrisean’s Son
Blueface
Chrisean Jr. Ain’t My Kid …
Get It Through your Head!!!
Published
Blueface is driving home the point he’s NOT the biological dad of two-year-old Chrisean Jr. — the son of his on-again, off-again girlfriend Chrisean Rock.
The rapper posted a message on X Thursday night, insisting “Jr is not my biological son RIP to his father Ronnie.” Blueface didn’t reveal who exactly Ronnie is … but Chrisean had an ex named Karon “Ronny Doe” Cann, who passed away in 2025.
In the X post, Blueface said he didn’t want to be discredited by being labeled an absent father, especially when he’s already very present in the lives of his 2 other children, he claims.
Blueface also said he tried to “fill in the blanks” because the child’s biological father is “no longer with us.” He went on to say he can’t “continue the plot” of masquerading as the dad, noting “it doesn’t feel right.”
Chrisean fired back on Instagram, writing that Blueface dissed her and her son by suggesting they’re “Dumb” on a livestream. She vowed to “never normalize that,” but she did not address Blueface’s claim that he’s not Jr.’s dad. She also posted, “Pray for Jonathan” — Blue’s real first name.
This is the second time Blueface has tackled this issue. In December 2023, he denied being the baby’s father months after Chrisean had given birth.
Then, in February 2025, Chrisean uploaded the results of an alleged paternity test to her son’s Instagram account, which apparently showed Blueface was the father.
The situation got even more confusing in November 2025 when Blueface called Chrisean Jr. his son on a live stream while answering questions about the paternity test.
What a mess!

Kandi Burruss Announced Her Departure From ‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ In 2024 After Nearly 15 Years

For those unfamiliar, Burruss announced her departure from “RHOA” in 2024 while walking the red carpet at the Grammy Awards.
At the time, she told Variety that it was time for a break after a 15-year run. She also hinted that the network’s delay in finalizing the season 15 cast played a role in her decision to move on.
“It’s been 14 seasons, and they allowed us to sit around for a little too long, but during that time I had started working on a lot of other things, and I got some nice big projects coming soon, so I’m super excited about those things,” Burruss said.
Burruss also shared that she felt pushed to walk away from “RHOA” after those in her inner circle challenged her to think about her future.

Burruss is no stranger to the Broadway stage, as she previously starred in “Chicago” as “Matron Mama Morton.”

Ben Stiller Slams White House for Tropic Thunder Social Clip
Ben Stiller spoke out against the White House for using a clip of Tropic Thunder in their latest social media post following the strike on Iran.
“Hey White House, please remove the Tropic Thunder clip,” the actor, 60, wrote via X on Friday, March 6. “We never gave you permission and have no interest in being a part of your propaganda machine. War is not a movie.”
On Thursday, March 5, the official White House X account posted a clip that included Stiller’s satire movie about the Vietnam War which also starred Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr. The post was a montage of other war moments from films and featured additional snippets from Braveheart, Top Gun, Superman, Transformers, Iron Man 2, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and more.
“JUSTICE THE AMERICAN WAY. 🇺🇸🔥,” read the caption.
Last weekend, President Donald Trump and the White House confirmed that the United States launched an airstrike on Iran which killed the country’s leader Ali Khamenei. Khamenei was 86. In a statement shared via social media on Saturday, February 28, Trump, 79, called Khamenei “one of the most evil people in history.”
“This is not only justice for the people of Iran, but for all great Americans,” he said at the time.
The following day, the White House gave an update on the conflict which Trump has referred to as “Operation Epic Fury.”
“Earlier today, CENTCOM shared the news that three U.S. military service members have been killed in action,” the White House said via X on Sunday, March 1. “As one nation, we grieve for the true American patriots, who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation… We send our immense love & eternal gratitude to the families of the fallen.”
Stiller is not the only figure in Hollywood to ask the Trump administration to refrain from using their intellectual property. Earlier this week, Kesha slammed the White House for featuring her song “Blow” in a pro-war video.
“It’s come to my attention that The White House has used one of my songs on TikTok to incite violence and threaten war [prior to the Iran conflict],” the singer, 39, wrote via her Instagram Story on Monday, March 2. “Trying to make light of war is disgusting and inhumane. I absolutely do NOT approve of my music being used to promote violence of any kind.”
Sabrina Carpenter also previously requested the White House to not use her song “Juno” on a video the administration used for the controversial ICE raids.

Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to Late Rob Reiner on His Birthday
The Princess Bride star Cary Elwes has shared an emotional tribute to the late Rob Reiner on what would have been his 79th birthday.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, March 6, Elwes, 63, posted a throwback photo of himself with the director.
“Today would have been your 79th birthday,” Elwes captioned the touching post. “Still hard to believe you’re gone. Missing you so much #robreiner ⚔️💔”
Rob and his wife, photographer Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead with multiple stab wounds in their Brentwood, California home in December 2025. They were 78 and 70, respectively.
Rob and Michele’s son, Nick Reiner, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances in connection with his parents’ death. He has pleaded not guilty and is currently being held without bond while he awaits trial.
After news of the couple’s deaths broke last year, Elwes shared his grief via social media on December 29, 2025.

“I was 24 when I first met Rob Reiner on The Princess Bride. And from that very first meeting I fell in love with him,” the actor wrote via Instagram at the time. “I was already a fan of his work so meeting him in person was a dream come true. As we began spending more time together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life. I also knew that by casting me as Westley he was giving me the keys to the castle.”
Elwes continued, “The first thing I noticed about Rob was that he wore his heart on his sleeve. This was a man who felt deeply. Whose heart was filled with love and compassion. He wasn’t impressed by how much money you had or if you had a privileged upbringing. He just wanted to know if you were a ‘good guy.’ He always tried to find the best in people. And if that person had problems he felt bad for them. He loved his family and friends immensely.”
In the lengthy post, Elwes went on to describe how painful the loss of Rob and Michele was and shared his gratitude for what they brought to the world when they were alive.
“Thank you Rob and Michele for sharing your life and art with us,” he added. “Because my heart still aches every time I think of you, I know the grief of losing you too soon will likely never go away. Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you.”

Kelsea Ballerini Posts Amid Chase Stokes, Morgan Evans Drama
Kelsea Ballerini seemingly reacted to the drama between her exes Chase Stokes and Morgan Evans.
Taking to social media on Friday, March 6, the country singer, 32, shared cryptic posts via her Instagram and TikTok accounts.
Over on Instagram, Ballerini shared an image that read, “And for the lady, perhaps a f**king break?” She used Lenny Kravitz’s song “It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over” to accompany the post.
Ballerini also posted on TikTok several hours later. In a video montage, Ballerini appears to be living her best life and dances around enthusiastically in some parts of the clip and poses in front of what appears to be a private jet in another.
Tellingly, the singer used Lady Gaga’s hit track “Telephone” as the accompanying music. The lyrics read, “Sorry, I cannot hear you, I’m kinda busy.”
Ballerini’s cryptic social media posts were posted the same week Stokes, 33, and Evans, 40, took aim at one another via Instagram.
After Evans made rare remarks about his 2022 divorce from Ballerini on the Tuesday, March 3, episode of “The BobbyCast” podcast, Stokes slammed Evans’ “masculinity.”
“This is about the most pathetic excuse of masculinity I’ve ever seen,” Stokes commented on an Instagram post shared by Bobby Bones, who was promoting his podcast interview with Evans.
Stokes, who has been dating Ballerini on and off since 2023, added, “Get a f***ing life.”
@kelseaballerini ✈️☀️🥂👯♀️🌇🎧
In the podcast interview, Evans claimed that the split from Ballerini took him “by surprise” and added that he was “not expecting” a divorce.
“That whole time is such a blur. It almost feels like somebody else, just from where I’m sitting now. I just look back and I’m like, ‘Oh, my God,’” Evans, who was married to Ballerini for nearly five years, said. “Yeah, it was just kind of a whirlwind, life-changing moment.
Bones, 45, screenshotted Stokes’ since-deleted comment and responded with an Instagram video of his own.
“If you’re going to come that hard, maybe you don’t want to take that [comment] down,” Bones said, noting that only a small part of their interview was about the divorce.
“I thought he came off really well. I thought he was very kind in his version of events. There’s three stories, right? There’s his story, her story and the real story,” Bones said. “This masculinity thing was just weird. Why would you challenge someone’s masculinity?”
Evans responded to Stokes’ sledge by posting a not-so-subtle jab at the Outer Banks actor via an Instagram post shared on Thursday, March 5.
“Feeling pretty masculine today,” Evans captioned the post. “Album out in 2 weeks!”
The social media post featured several photos of Evans engaging in stereotypically “masculine” activities, such as lifting a refrigerator over his head and looking underneath the hood of a car. In a separate video, Evans could be seen chopping a piece of wood.
Bones, who was inadvertently caught up in the drama thanks to his podcast, saw the funny side, commenting, “I laughed.”

The details of Ray J’s night out are unclear. However, the visuals are saying plenty to fans! In a short clip obtained by The Shade Room, the singer is seen moving his hips and alternating his hands while touching his head to an R&B song. He appeared to be looking directly at the camera recording and even stuck his tongue out at one point. Ray was dressed causal, rocking a white tee and a U.S. Army-branded beanie. It’s also unclear whether he was in the spot solo or with company and whether he was intoxicated or not.
The Roomies Weigh In
In 18 hours, over 3,400 Instagram roommates dropped their two cents on Ray J showing off his dance moves. Some saw a kiii, while others questioned why he’s in a nightclub while battling health problems. Others pointed out that if the singer isn’t concerned, the public shouldn’t be either. Ray has not addressed the resurfaced video.

“Hear me out – if Ray J was a woman…CONSERVATORSHIP 🗣️,” @jaraemilay said.
What Did Ray’s Mom Say About His Health?
Amid swirling questions, Sonja Norwood gave credibility to her son’s online posts about his health. She said on Tuesday that it’s gotten “out of hand” how many believe that Ray J is “faking his health.” Norwood confirmed that her son was in the hospital in January. Doctors later told him he had “cardiomyopathy,” a type of heart disease. She added that the blood flow to her son’s heart was 15% to 20% and a life-threatening condition.
“It has been told to him that if he does not take his medication, if he does not take medical advice, and if he doesn’t rest and stay stress-free… then he has a life-threatening situation,” Sonja Norwood said.

The 73% Rotten Tomatoes Cult Classic That Quietly Redefined the Modern Neo-Noir
When Paul Thomas Anderson premiered his latest film, One Battle After Another, the conversation quickly turned to his remarkable consistency as one of modern cinema’s most distinctive auteurs. Over the past two decades, Anderson has steadily climbed the ranks of Hollywood’s most respected filmmakers, earning multiple Academy Award nominations for films like There Will Be Blood, The Master, and Phantom Thread. Yet nestled quietly among these prestige titles is a strange, shaggy detective movie that initially puzzled audiences but has grown in stature over time: Inherent Vice.
Adapted from Thomas Pynchon’s novel, the 2014 film now feels less like an oddity in Anderson’s filmography and more like a stealth turning point for modern neo-noir storytelling. Upon its release, Inherent Vice received a mixed-to-positive reception from critics and audiences. The film currently holds a solid 73% score on Rotten Tomatoes, reflecting the divided response to its deliberately meandering narrative and eccentric tone. While some viewers found its hazy plotting frustrating, others praised Anderson for channeling the spirit of 1970s American filmmaking. The movie plays like a time capsule from the New Hollywood era—an offbeat, counterculture-infused neo-noir that filters classic Hollywood crime stories through psychedelic humor and a stoner’s worldview. In an industry increasingly dominated by sleek thrillers and tightly structured mysteries, Anderson delivered something looser, stranger, and more atmospheric.
What Is ‘Inherent Vice’ About?
Set in 1970 Los Angeles, the film follows private investigator Larry “Doc” Sportello (Joaquin Phoenix). Doc’s life takes a turn when his ex-girlfriend Shasta Fay Hepworth (Katherine Waterson) suddenly reappears with a strange request: she believes her wealthy real estate developer boyfriend is about to be kidnapped by his own wife and her lover. What begins as a seemingly straightforward missing-person case quickly spirals into a dense web of conspiracies involving drug cartels, corrupt dentists, mysterious organizations, and a shadowy syndicate known as the Golden Fang. The deeper Doc digs, the less clear the truth becomes.
As Doc drifts through smoky beach houses, neon-lit clubs, and foggy Los Angeles streets, the mystery only grows more surreal. Along the way, he crosses paths with a gallery of eccentric characters, including the relentless LAPD detective Christian “Bigfoot” Bjornsen (Josh Brolin), who serves as both Doc’s nemesis and reluctant ally. The film’s plot intentionally dissolves into a haze of half-remembered clues and overlapping conspiracies, reflecting both the paranoia of the early 1970s and Doc’s perpetually altered state of mind. Rather than solving the mystery in traditional fashion, Inherent Vice immerses the audience in the confusion and cultural disorientation of the era.
In Memory of Robert Duvall — The Collider Movie Quiz
‘Inherent Vice’ Is a Throwback to ’70s Unconventional Detective Dramas
Anderson’s whimsical direction places Inherent Vice firmly within the lineage of unconventional detective stories from the 1970s. Filmmakers like Robert Altman, Peter Yates, and Alan J. Pakula all helped reshape crime cinema during that decade by embracing ambiguity and moral complexity. Altman’s famously offbeat take on Raymond Chandler, The Long Goodbye, similarly presented a detective wandering through a disorienting modern world. Meanwhile, Pakula’s paranoia trilogy—particularly The Parallax View—captured the era’s growing distrust of institutions. Anderson’s film feels like a spiritual descendant of these works, trading traditional noir cynicism for countercultural melancholy.
Part of what makes Inherent Vice so distinctive is its ensemble cast and dreamlike atmosphere. Phoenix anchors the film with a loose, improvisational performance that perfectly captures Doc’s spaced-out but quietly perceptive nature. Surrounding him is a stellar ensemble that includes Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon, Benicio del Toro, and Martin Short. The film’s hazy vibe is further enhanced by a nostalgic soundtrack and a dreamy score from Jonny Greenwood. The result is a crime film that feels simultaneously whimsical and mournful—a goodbye letter to the fading idealism of the ’60s.
Inherent Vice helped redefine what modern neo-noir could look like. While many contemporary entries in the genre lean toward sleek procedural storytelling or brutal nihilism, Anderson’s film embraced confusion, humor, and atmosphere as narrative tools. Its influence can be seen in later crime stories that prioritize mood and character over strict plot mechanics. By resurrecting the loose, experimental spirit of 1970s detective films and filtering it through a modern lens, Anderson created something rare: a neo-noir that feels both nostalgic and forward-thinking. What once seemed like a strange detour in his career now reads as a quiet reinvention of the genre itself.
Inherent Vice is streaming on Prime Video in the US.
