7 Great Prime Video Shows You’ll Wish You Watched Sooner

Published

on

Michael Dorman in Patriot Season 2

Prime Video might be the most underrated streaming service on the market and rarely gets the same attention as Netflix or HBO in mainstream conversations. However, it has quietly built a catalog filled with some of the most unique and rewarding shows of the last decade. In fact, many of the streamer’s best originals are the kinds of shows people only discover years later, only to realize how much they have been missing out on.

That’s because Prime Video has been taking chances on stories that other platforms probably wouldn’t touch because they feel too niche or experimental. If you’ve spent years scrolling past Prime Video originals without giving them a chance, here are the great shows on the streamer that you’ll wish you watched sooner.

Daisy Jones & The Six’ (2023)

Daisy Jones & The Six looks like a straightforward music drama about the rise and fall of a fictional rock band in the 1970s. However, the series is so much more than that. The story, based on Taylor Jenkins Reid‘s novel, unfolds in the style of a retrospective documentary, and that storytelling technique gives it a realism that the plot really needs. The series follows aspiring singer Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and The Six, a struggling rock band led by Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin). The group is on the verge of superstardom thanks to Billy and Daisy’s creative partnership. However, their growing feelings for each other seriously complicate the situation. Daisy Jones & The Six is an interesting look at the music industry, but it also focuses on the people behind the music. Billy tries to stay committed to his wife Camila (Camila Morrone) while navigating his chemistry with Daisy.

At the same time, the rest of the band is forced to live in the shadow of that dynamic, which slowly creates fractures that become impossible to ignore. The brilliance of the series is that there isn’t one defining moment that destroys the group. Instead, the breakup feels like the inevitable result of years of unresolved emotions. The show also does an incredible job of capturing the music scene of the 1970s. Even the soundtrack feels authentic to the time and is woven directly into the plot, to the point where it’s easy to forget that these aren’t actually rock records from back in the day. Daisy Jones & The Six‘s greatest strength is that it doesn’t feel like a series about a fictional band. It genuinely feels like a real piece of music history.

‘Patriot’ (2015–2018)

Patriot is one of the most unique spy shows ever made, which is probably why so many people completely missed it when it first aired. The series follows intelligence officer John Tavner (Michael Dorman), who is tasked with preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons. To do so, he takes on the identity of a mid-level employee at an industrial piping company and travels across Europe to carry out a covert operation. However, no part of that plan is simple. One mistake leads to another, and John finds himself in increasingly absurd situations that threaten the entire operation. Patriot approaches espionage from a different, completely unglamorous angle.

John isn’t the perfect super-agent who effortlessly completes impossible missions. Instead, he is exhausted, emotionally drained, and constantly dealing with one curveball after the other. Watching him desperately improvise his way through these situations is where much of the show’s tension comes from. Despite its heavy subject material, Patriot never feels bleak. The brilliance of the show is that every obstacle feels both completely ridiculous and entirely believable within the world it creates, while John’s deteriorating mental state keeps it all emotionally grounded. Patriot is a great spy show with high stakes and suspense, and at the same time, one of the most original stories on Prime Video.

‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ (2024–Present)

Mr. & Mrs. Smith takes the basic premise of the iconic 2005 film and runs wild with it. The series follows two strangers, John Smith (Donald Glover) and Jane Smith (Maya Erskine), who agree to work for a mysterious espionage organization that assigns them dangerous missions around the world. The catch is that they must pose as a married couple while doing it. At first, their arrangement is purely professional. They barely know each other and spend much of the early episodes trying to figure out who their partner really is. However, as the missions become more dangerous, their fake marriage gradually evolves into something far more complicated. What makes the show so engaging is that every mission doubles as a new stage in their relationship.

Underneath all the assassinations and undercover operations, the series explores the trust and intimacy that eventually develops between the couple. Over time, it becomes difficult for them to separate their professional partnership from their personal feelings. By the second half of Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 1, the emotional stakes become just as important as the espionage itself. Glover and Erskine share an effortlessly natural dynamic, which is integral to the narrative. However, what ultimately makes the spy series such a fascinating watch is that it doesn’t just recreate the movie but does something genuinely fresh with its beloved premise.

‘The English’ (2022)

The English is the perfect intimate Western for today’s age. The miniseries follows English aristocrat Lady Cornelia Locke (Emily Blunt), who travels to the American West in 1890 to seek revenge against the man she believes is responsible for her son’s death. Along the way, she crosses paths with former cavalry scout and member of the Pawnee Nation Eli Whipp (Chaske Spencer), who is traveling to Nebraska to claim land he was promised for his military service. The chance encounter gradually evolves into a meaningful partnership as the two realize their histories may be connected in unexpected ways. The English starts as a revenge story, but it keeps revealing new layers beneath that narrative.

Cornelia and Eli become entangled in a web of old massacres, stolen land, generational trauma, and the lingering consequences of violence committed years earlier. Nearly every person they encounter seems connected to a different piece of that puzzle, and the series gradually weaves those threads together until the audience understands how deeply everything is intertwined. Now, the show takes its sweet time to unravel this mystery, but that’s what keeps the audience hooked till the very end. Blunt and Chaske’s on-screen chemistry is easily the best part of The English. It’s what turns the show into a Western that feels epic in scope but deeply personal too. The series is one of Prime Video’s most overlooked gems, and deserves way more recognition than it gets.

👑
Tulsa King

⚖️
Mayor of Kingstown

You are a Dutton — or you might as well be. You understand that some things are worth protecting at any cost, and that the modern world’s indifference to history, to land, to legacy, is not something you’re willing to accept quietly. You lead from the front, you carry your family’s weight without complaint, and when someone threatens what’s yours, you don’t escalate — you finish it. You’re not cruel. But you are absolute. In Yellowstone’s world, that combination of ferocity and loyalty doesn’t make you a villain. It makes you the only thing standing between everything that matters and everyone who wants to take it.

You thrive in the chaos of high-stakes negotiation, where the money is enormous, the margins are thin, and the wrong word in the wrong room can cost everyone everything. You’re a fixer — the person called when a situation is already on fire and needs someone with the nerve to walk into it. West Texas oil country rewards exactly what you are: sharp, adaptable, unsentimental, and absolutely clear-eyed about what people want and what they’ll do to get it. You’re not naive enough to think this world is fair. You’re smart enough to be the one deciding who it’s fair to.

You are a Dwight Manfredi — someone who has served their time, paid their dues, and arrived somewhere unexpected with nothing but their reputation and their wits. You adapt without losing yourself. You build loyalty through respect rather than fear, though you’re not above reminding people that the two aren’t mutually exclusive. Tulsa King is for people who are still standing when everyone assumed they’d be finished — who find, in an unfamiliar place, that they’re more capable than the world gave them credit for. You don’t need a throne. You build one, wherever you happen to land.

You carry the weight of a system that is broken by design, and you do it anyway — because someone has to, and because you’re the only one positioned to do it without the whole thing collapsing. Mike McLusky’s world is for people who are comfortable operating where there are no good options, only less catastrophic ones. You speak every language: law enforcement, criminal, political, human. That fluency makes you invaluable and it makes you a target. You’ve made your peace with both. Mayor of Kingstown belongs to people who understand that keeping the peace is not the same as being at peace — and who do the job regardless.

‘Goliath’ (2016–2021)

Goliath is a compelling legal drama that everyone can enjoy. The series follows Billy McBride (Billy Bob Thornton), a once-brilliant lawyer who helped build one of Los Angeles’ most powerful law firms before his life completely fell apart. When the story begins, Billy is living out of a motel, struggling with alcoholism, and taking whatever work he can find. However, everything changes when he takes on what appears to be a straightforward wrongful death case involving a major corporation. However, as Billy digs deeper, he uncovers a conspiracy that reaches all the way back to his former law firm and some of the most powerful people in the city. The single lawsuit turns into a full-blown battle between ordinary people and institutions that believe they can get away with anything. None of that ever feels jarring, though, since Goliath steadily expands the scope of each case without losing sight of the personal stakes involved.

Billy is constantly forced to outmaneuver corrupt officials who have far more resources than he does. At the same time, he’s also fighting his own demons, which makes every victory feel truly earned. The supporting cast, particularly Patty Solis-Papagian (Nina Arianda), adds even more personality to the story, and her dynamic with Billy becomes one of the most interesting parts of the show. The series does an excellent job of blending courtroom drama, investigative work, and neo-noir storytelling to create a legal thriller that feels far more unpredictable than the average procedural.

‘Fleabag’ (2016–2019)

Fleabag is easily one of the most original shows on Prime Video. The series, created by and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge, follows a young woman known only as Fleabag as she attempts to navigate grief, family dysfunction, failed relationships, and the general chaos of her life in London. The premise seems simple initially. Fleabag runs a struggling café, constantly sabotages her own happiness, and uses humor as a defense mechanism whenever life becomes uncomfortable. However, it quickly becomes clear that she is carrying far more emotional baggage than she is willing to admit. The story gradually peels back the layers of Fleabag’s life to reveal why she is the way she is. She actually spends much of the series breaking the fourth wall and speaking directly to the audience, which initially creates the impression that viewers understand her completely.

However, the entire point is that she is hiding from herself just as much as she is from everyone around her. Her complicated relationships with her sister Claire (Sian Clifford), her father (Bill Paterson), and her godmother (Olivia Colman) provide some of the show’s funniest and most devastating moments, and that duality is truly where Fleabag shines. The highlight of the show, though, is Fleabag’s magnetic romance with the Hot Priest (Andrew Scott), which is genuine, hilarious, and heartbreaking at the same time. Fleabag is one of the most human shows ever made, and whoever hasn’t watched it is seriously missing out on some great TV.

‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ (2017–2023)

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is proof that a great character can carry a show for years. The series follows Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan), a perfect 1950s housewife whose life comes crashing down when her husband Joel (Michael Zegen) suddenly leaves her. While dealing with the heartbreak, Midge accidentally discovers a talent for stand-up comedy and decides to pursue a career in an industry that wasn’t really welcoming to women at the time. Initially, the whole thing feels like Midge’s attempt to regain control of her life, but it eventually leads her on an ambitious journey through New York City’s comedy scene and beyond. Midge begins performing in smoky clubs, opening for bigger acts, going on tour, while constantly butting heads with industry insiders who underestimate her. As opposed to her career that keeps gaining momentum, her personal life remains as chaotic as ever.

Joel never fully disappears from the story; her parents, Abe (Tony Shalhoub) and Rose (Marin Hinkle), struggle to understand her choices, and her fiercely loyal manager, Susie Myerson (Alex Borstein), becomes one of the most important people in her life. The show constantly balances these competing storylines without losing sight of Midge’s growth as both a performer and a person, and that becomes the heart of the narrative. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is technically a period drama, but the show’s fast pace and witty humor make it as relatable as ever. It’s charming, funny, and a surprisingly emotional exploration of what happens when a woman refuses to settle, and that makes it one of the most rewarding watches on Prime Video.

Love Island USA’s Kenzie Is Called Out for ‘Misleading’ Men

Published

on

Love Island USA

Love Island USA‘s Kenzie Annis had to address how she ended up in multiple love triangles in season 8.

During Movie Night on Thursday, July 2, Kenzie watched clips of her exploring a connection with Corbin Mims while coupled up with Caleb McDaniel. She issued an apology to Caleb for “misleading” him by not being honest about her interactions with Corbin.

“I do feel bad about that,” Kenzie said in a confessional after the other girls called her actions “f**ked up,” adding, “I feel really bad. I don’t ever want to make anyone feel bad. I feel bad that I led Caleb on.”

She continued: “I guess I just don’t know how to go about this in a good way. I’ve never dated two people. It’s not natural. It’s not normal for me.”

After Kenzie initially formed a bond with Zach Georgiou, she recoupled with Corbin — but then America stepped in and switched her partner to Caleb McDaniel. She was reunited with Corbin shortly before he headed to Casa Amor.

Love Island USA follows a group of singles who must pair off in order to stay in the show’s luxury villa. The contestants — referred to as Islanders — live in isolation in a villa under constant video surveillance. They must be coupled up to remain on the show and earn a shot at the $100,000 prize.

While the islanders are filming nonstop for weeks, viewers are watching daily episodes and casting votes that affect the couples and the fate of the contestants.

Before viewers tuned in, Peacock issued a message to remind the audience to be kind.

“The Villa runs on good vibes, and so does this community. We love seeing your reactions, opinions, and debates, but everyone deserves to feel safe and respected,” read their statement. “This is a space for fun, not negativity – so keep it kind, keep it positive, and remember: this is LOVE Island!”

Host Ariana Madix has also had to previously issue a message for those Love Island USA viewers who are taking things too far when expressing their frustrations with the show.

“I do want to say something to some of those people who are online,” she said during a June 2025 episode of Aftersun. “Don’t be contacting people’s families. Don’t be doxxing people.”

Ariana questioned the behavior she saw on social media.

“Don’t be going on islanders’ pages and saying rude things. You still have time to delete all of that because the islanders don’t have their phones,” she noted. “So we are giving you a chance because this is a fun, amazing and beautiful show. Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds Upstate Amid Taylor Swift Wedding

Published

on

As all eyes remain on New York City’s Madison Square Garden, where Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are reportedly tying the knot this weekend, Blake Lively was spotted well away from the action.

In photos published by TMZ on Thursday, July 2, Lively, 38 and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, 49, were snapped in Lake Placid, New York.

The images show Lively and Reynolds in upstate New York, nearly 300 miles away from MSG, as they cheered on their daughter Betty, 6, at a horse show at a local farm. (In addition to Betty, Lively and Reynolds also share daughters James, 11, and Inez, 9, and son Olin, 3.)

In stark contrast, other celebs, including Selena Gomez and Lena Dunham, have been spotted in New York City as Swift and Kelce’s rehearsal dinner reportedly kicked off.

As Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding day approaches, multiple sources have confirmed to Us Weekly that Swift’s once-close friend Blake Lively did not receive an invitation to the pair’s nuptials. “Blake understands why she wouldn’t be invited and that it would be a media frenzy,” an insider exclusively tells Us Weekly. “She also understands […]

Last month, multiple sources confirmed to Us Weekly that Lively did not receive an invitation to Swift and Kelce’s wedding despite the Gossip Girl alum once sharing a close friendship with the “Opalite” singer.

“Blake understands why she wouldn’t be invited and that it would be a media frenzy,” an insider exclusively told Us in June. “She also understands that she and Taylor don’t have the same level of friendship they once had. She isn’t upset about not being invited, but of course, she would love to be there to support her and Travis.”

Us previously reached out to Lively and Swift’s representatives.

Swift and Lively’s bond was strained after the Grammy winner was dragged into Lively’s legal battle between the actress and her It Ends With Us director and costar Justin Baldoni.

During the high-profile legal drama, personal texts between Swift and Lively were made public. Swift’s name also came up in court documents, when Baldoni claimed he was ambushed during a meeting at Lively and Reynolds’ NYC penthouse with Swift in attendance. In subsequent text messages, Lively referred to herself as Khaleesi from Game of Thrones and called Swift one of her “dragons.”

Lively and Baldoni, 42, reached a settlement out of court last month after the contentious 18-month legal fight.

Prior to their strained relationship Lively and Swift shared a tight relationship, with the “Fate of Ophelia” singer being given the honor of being godmother to three of Lively’s four children.

After Swift began dating Kelce in summer 2023, the couple spent quality time with Lively and Reynolds, including a double date at The Corner Store in NYC in October 2024.

Blake Lively Misses Taylor Swift Wedding Kickoff

Published

on

Blake Lively at the 2026 Met Gala Costume Art

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding celebrations are officially underway, but one notable absence is already generating as much buzz as the star-studded guest list.

While Hollywood heavyweights, music icons, and close friends gathered in New York City for the couple’s intimate rehearsal dinner, Blake Lively was nowhere to be seen.

Instead, the actress spent the evening hundreds of miles away with her family, fueling fresh speculation that her once-close friendship with Swift has reached an undeniable breaking point.

As celebrity guests descended on New York City for the first night of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s lavish wedding festivities, Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds were noticeably absent.

Rather than joining the glamorous rehearsal dinner, the couple spent Thursday supporting their six-year-old daughter Betty at a horse show in Lake Placid, New York.

The disparity couldn’t have been more striking. While Swift’s famous friends arrived dressed for an elegant evening, Lively kept things casual in a navy tank top and denim shorts, with her blonde hair loosely clipped back.

The photos obtained by TMZ, also showed Ryan Reynolds embracing a low-key look, wearing a white T-shirt, khaki pants, and a tan hat. Their absence stood out because Swift’s opening celebration was hardly short on space.

The singer reportedly welcomed around 100 of her closest friends for an intimate first-night gathering before Friday’s massive celebration, which is expected to host roughly 1,000 guests.

According to a Daily Mail source, “Madison Square Garden holds more than 20,000 people. If Blake isn’t there, nobody can blame a lack of space.”

Lively’s Absence Raises More Questions About The Friendship

As the guest list continued making headlines, insiders suggested Blake Lively’s missing invitation was impossible to overlook.

“The guest list is so massive that Blake’s absence becomes impossible to ignore. People will notice immediately,” the source said.

The insider added, “Taylor could invite practically everyone she’s ever known. That’s why Blake not getting an invite would speak volumes. This isn’t about logistics or capacity. If Blake is left off the list, it’s personal.”

The timing makes the situation even more significant considering Taylor Swift has long been considered part of Lively and Reynolds’ extended family.

The pop superstar is godmother to the couple’s three daughters, James, Inez, and Betty, and has even honored the children by referencing them in her music.

While Lively spent the evening with her family, Swift celebrated alongside many of the people who remain central to her personal life.

Reported bridesmaid Selena Gomez arrived wearing an elegant black gown before joining the festivities. Supermodel Gigi Hadid also attended with boyfriend Bradley Cooper, while Swift’s longtime friend Ashley Avignone accompanied them.

Music producer Jack Antonoff, one of the Grammy winner’s closest collaborators, was also photographed heading to the celebration after leaving the Bowery Hotel in a sharp suit.

The guest list showcased Swift’s closest relationships, making Lively’s absence even more noticeable. According to one insider, “The bigger the wedding gets, the worse this looks for Blake.”

They added, “There will be movie stars, athletes, politicians, and music royalty in that arena. When Blake isn’t among them, that becomes one of the biggest stories of the night and Taylor knows it.”

Swift Reportedly Torn Over Lively Wedding Snub

Despite everything that has happened, recent reports claimed Taylor Swift was struggling with one deeply personal decision involving Blake Lively.

As The Blast reported, insiders alleged the “Cruel Summer” singer still felt the emotional weight of their fractured friendship despite deciding to distance herself from the actress.

One source claimed, “Even though it was Taylor’s decision to end the friendship, it’s still very painful,” adding, “She and Blake were so close for so many years – so of course she misses her – and now here she is getting married and not even inviting Blake to her wedding.”

The insider also alleged that there was an element of guilt at play, noting there was once speculation Lively “was going to be Taylor’s maid of honor and now she’s not even getting an invite, which is just sad.”

Despite the reported heartache, sources believe both women may eventually repair their friendship.

The apparent distance between the longtime friends reportedly traces back to Lively’s legal dispute with Justin Baldoni.

Although the lawsuit was settled earlier this year, sources suggest the fallout surrounding the case left lasting damage.

Swift became unexpectedly involved after she was subpoenaed before that request was eventually withdrawn.

Her connection to the controversy stemmed from “My Tears Ricochet” appearing on the soundtrack for “It Ends With Us,” the 2024 film starring Lively and Baldoni.

Court filings also revealed text messages in which Lively referred to Swift and Reynolds as “my dragons” during exchanges with Baldoni.

The situation escalated further when Baldoni filed a $400 million countersuit accusing Lively and Ryan Reynolds of defamation. However, that lawsuit was ultimately dismissed.

Let the festivities begin! Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s nearest and dearest have started arriving at their reported wedding rehearsal dinner.

Swift and Kelce, both 36, are rumored to tie the knot at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, July 3, in front of around 1,000 of their loved ones but a smaller group is reportedly gathering on Thursday, July 2, for a rehearsal dinner, per multiple media outlets.

Per Page Six and ABC News, around 100 individuals will be present for Thursday’s dinner, with social media offering a sneak peek at who made the guest list.

Among those famous faces spotted en route to Madison Square Garden — which Us Weekly reported is being used as a meeting place for guests — on Thursday were Swift’s longtime producer Jack Antonoff and her close friend Lena Dunham. Antonoff, 42, and Dunham, 40, went through a very public breakup in 2017 after five years together. (Dunham and Antonoff attended the event separately. Jack was seen heading to MSG with his sister, designer Rachel Antonoff, while it’s not clear whether Dunham was joined by her husband, musician Luis Felber.)

Lena Dunham

Thanks to a partially rolled-down car window, a fan documented Dunham en route to MSG on Thursday.

The Girls creator’s attendance at Swift’s rehearsal dinner — and presumably the wedding — is no surprise since the “I Knew It, I Knew You” singer reportedly served as a bridesmaid when Dunham wed her husband, Felber, in 2021.

Jack Antonoff

The 14-time Grammy winner was photographed getting into a black SUV alongside his sister Rachel near Madison Square Garden on Thursday. Jack’s fiancée, Margaret Qualley, did not appear to be with them as of publication but could be traveling to the wedding festivities separately.

Selena Gomez

Designer Fernando Jorge confirmed that Taylor’s longtime bestie was wearing their jewelry to the rehearsal dinner. Gomez also shared an Instagram Story where she applied some Rare Beauty lipstick in the back of a limo shortly before the dinner.

Swift was in attendance when Gomez wed her husband, Benny Blanco, at the Sea Crest Nursery in Santa Barbara, California, on September 27, 2025. Swift was also present for a rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding.

Bradley Cooper

A photographer caught the smiling A Star Is Born actor on his way to the event, where he will likely join girlfriend Gigi Hadid.

Adam Sandler

The Sun shared footage of Kelce’s Happy Gilmore 2 costar exiting an SVU in the underground unloading zone at Madison Square Garden.

Ashley Avignone

A longtime friend of Swift’s, the stylist was photographed in the driver’s seat of a car on the way to Madison Square Garden.

George Kittle and Claire Kittle

San Francisco 49ers player, George Kittle and his wife Claire Kittle, were seen outside a New York hotel on Thursday.

Ross Travis

Kelce’s close friend, Ross Travis, opted for a stylish black top and a hat in the same shade, He accessorized with gold chain necklaces, gold bracelets and a pocket chain.

Other Notable Guests

NFL commentator Greg Olsen, Kelce’s friend Aric Jones and Fox Sports’ Charissa Thompson were also observed in the vicinity of MSG on Thursday, per Extra.

Love Island USA Narrator Pokes Fun at Islanders Being Removed

Published

on

Love Island

Love Island USA‘s narrator Iain Stirling found a way to joke about the show losing multiple Islanders after they had to be removed from the villa.

The Thursday, July 2, episode showed Melanie Moreno planning to sleep in Soul Ties — until she saw the villa’s famous owl. Melanie moved to another place for the night while the owl settled in.

The next morning, Iain addressed the owl’s absence. “For personal reasons, the owl has left the village,” he quipped.

The Love Island franchise began in the U.K. in 2002 before expanding worldwide with various spinoffs, including Love Island USA on Peacock. Each season, a different group of single Islanders are challenged to pair off in order to stay in the show’s luxury villa for a chance at the $100,000 prize.

Love Island USA is all about coupling up — so which Islanders are currently together and which have already called it quits in the villa? Peacock’s popular dating show returned in June 2026 with contestants Aniya Harvey, Beatriz Hatz, Bryce Alakai Dettloff, KC Chandler, Mackenzie “Kenzie” Annis, Melanie Moreno, Sincere Rhea, Sean Reifel, Trinity Tatum […]

Season 8 has had its fair share of drama — both while filming in Fiji and off screen. Earlier this season, Vasana Montgomery was cut from the show after resurfaced social media posts showed her using a slur.

Casa Amor bombshell Alannah Keyser also got pulled from the season after facing backlash for a resurfaced video that allegedly showed her using a racial slur. She broke her silence on the scandal on Saturday, June 27.

“Hi everyone, I’m coming on here to address some things that have been circulated online. I do want to begin by addressing the video of me singing along to a Roddy Ricch song that contains a racial slur. I’m sorry to whoever has seen that video and has been offended by it. That was never my intention,” Alannah said on TikTok. “The video is from six years ago and that word is just not in my vocabulary anymore.”

She continued, “I’d also like to address the screenshots that have been going around online that have been falsified. What has been shared does not reflect the truth and it has never been in my character to discriminate against anybody’s skin color. I do want to say directly that I do not support racism or discrimination of any kind and I never have.”

Similar issues arose during season 7, with Yulissa Escobar leaving days into the experience last year after clips of her using racial slurs on a podcast circulated online.

Season 7’s Cierra Ortega also faced backlash for using a slur in her own resurfaced social media post. She was pulled from the villa and later issued an apology for her past behavior.

New episodes of Love Island USA are released six days a week — except for Wednesdays — on Peacock.

Denis Villeneuve’s Darkest Film Is Streaming on HBO Max and It’s Nothing Like His Blockbusters

Published

on

Jessie Buckley as Lucy in I'm Thinking of Ending Things

An inexplicably eerie pan over a city skyline. A nude pregnant woman looks straight into the camera. A quote is shown onscreen: “Chaos is order yet undeciphered.” It’s a striking way to open Denis Villeneuve‘s simple yet mind-bending 2014 psychological thriller Enemy especially considering that megastar Jake Gyllenhaal heads it up. But while he’s known today for blockbusters like the Dune trilogy, Blade Runner 2049, and the upcoming James Bond series reboot, Villeneuve began his English-language film career with the one-two punch of crime thrillers Prisoners and Enemy, released a year apart and both starring Gyllenhaal. While Prisoners was received rapturously by critics, Enemy dives so deeply into symbolism and Lynchian surreality that it left many audiences at the time baffled.

It’s inconceivable today that the director would release something as idiosyncratic as Enemy, but audiences are lucky he did. If you watch the film now on HBO Max, where it’s currently streaming, the eerie film shows Villeneuve’s flare for visual storytelling, which he would continue to hone throughout his career, pairing it with a visceral finish that stands as one of the most startling endings to any thriller ever made.

‘Enemy’ Turns the Classic Identity Thriller Into Surreal Horror

Enemy stars Gyllenhaal as two identical men (or is there really just one?): a college professor focusing on totalitarian societies and a small-time actor. While a traditional thriller would build this up to the revelation of a big secret, in Enemy, the encounter between these doppelgängers triggers a descent into madness. But even that madness — and the film’s exploration of the men’s shared fear of commitment to their partners — is rendered vividly and visually, with hallucinatory imagery and, well, a lot of spiders (arachnophobes are strongly discouraged from watching Enemy, as fantastic as it is.)

From the first moments we see college professor Anthony (Gyllenhaal) and his girlfriend Mary’s (Mélanie Laurent) relationship, it’s clear that something’s off: She goes to bed while he grades papers or watches a film, and the one time they try to make love, she cries out and pushes him off of her. Once Anthony discovers, while watching a movie, that he has a double in an actor named Adam (also, of course, Gyllenhaal), he becomes obsessed to the point of stalking. This is followed by sexual confusion and frightening dreams (including a kaiju-esque image that’s unfortunately spoiled by the film’s poster).

Villeneuve Seems To Be Going for David Lynch … Until The Final Reveal

In case the shadowy underground club, complete with a secret key, doesn’t clue you in to the fact that Villeneuve is paying homage to David Lynch here, the presence of the magisterial Isabella Rossellini as Adam’s mother will leave no doubt. After her unforgettable roles in Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart, Rossellini only needs a few minutes of screen time in Enemy to establish her eerily powerful presence in Adam’s life. Add to that the film’s disconcerting score, brutalist architecture, and oddly mannered dialogue, and Enemy is one of the most Lynchian films that the master director never made.

However, it’s the final moments of Enemy that stick with virtually everyone who sees it — and move it from Lynchian territory into something even more surreal. After Mary and Anthony die together in a car wreck after a night of identity swapping, Adam dresses as Anthony and goes to the actor’s home. He calls out to Helen, Adam’s wife, while she’s in the bedroom and, after receiving no reply, walks in … only to find a massive tarantula that hisses and climbs the wall in apparent fear of him. It’s a genuinely frightening moment in its matter-of-fact surreality. Perhaps even creepier is Adam’s resigned expression as he looks at Helen/the spider.

Enemy resists a simple beat-by-beat interpretation, though many have tried online. From a commentary on life within the totalitarian societies Adam lectures about, to the presence of his mother, to his and Anthony’s shared fear of women, every and any explanation can fit with the horror of that final shot. But no explanation equals the pure shuddery impact of that final shot.

Here’s What Benzino Previously Said About Having A Relationship With Coi & His Grandchild

Shortly after Coi and Trippie Redd confirmed they were expecting in 2025, Benzino opened up about taking on grandpa duties. During a podcast interview, he shared that he thinks Coi becoming a mom might give her a whole new level of respect for him as a dad. He also said he hopes their father-daughter relationship doesn’t affect the bond he wants with her child.

“Nobody really understood my relationship with my daughter before she was a rap star. Nobody was there, regardless of when me and her mother split apart. Believe me, that baby gon’ need its granddad. It’s important for me to get my message to that baby. Regardless of whatever we’re going through, that ain’t got nothing to do with the grandbaby.”

Benzino made it clear he holds no animosity toward or Coi or Trippie, and was looking forward to showing up as the best grandfather he can be. “Granddad’s here! I got nothing but love in my heart,” Benzino added.
