There are few movies more quotable than fantasy movies. These grand stories, full of rich imagination, set in grand fictional worlds with complex magic systems and mythical creatures of wonder, typically lend themselves to fun, memorable dialogue. Oftentimes, these lines of dialogue go down in movie history as some of the medium’s most iconic, cementing fantasy as the perfect place for quotes that are inspiring, or funny, or badass, or all of those things at once.

Whether it’s a huge fantasy franchise like the Harry Potter movies, or a one-off classic like It’s a Wonderful Life, the most quotable fantasy movies usually couple their memorable lines of dialogue with colorful, vibrant characters and engrossing world-building. ‘Conan the Barbarian’ (1982)

Based on the sword-and-sorcery hero Conan created by Robert E. Howard, one of the biggest icons in the history of pulp magazines, Conan the Barbarian represented Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s breakout role as a leading Hollywood action hero. By proving that the sword-and-sorcery genre could be big, brutal, and serious, Conan became one of the R-rated fantasy movies that changed the genre forever.

There are plenty of reasons why it has been one of the most widely beloved fantasy and action movies of the ’80s for years, not least of which is the quotability of the script co-written by Oliver Stone and director John Milius. Dialogue throughout the movie is relatively sparse, but that stoicism is precisely what lends so many of the script’s most memorable lines such dramatic weight.

‘The Emperor’s New Groove’ (2000)

Often, it’s fantasy comedies that end up going down in history as some of the genre’s most quotable films; and often, it’s family comedies that end up having the most memorable dialogue. Case in point: Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove, one of the first movies the House of Mouse released after the end of the period now known as the Disney Renaissance.

Originally envisioned as a dramatic epic musical, Emperor’s New Groove ended up transforming into the delightfully comedic buddy film that allowed it to become one of Disney’s biggest animated cult classics. From Kuzco and Pacha’s hilarious banter to the deliciously villainous lines delivered by Eartha Kitt‘s Yzma, the movie is full of snappy dialogue that has endured with the rise of meme culture in the years following the film’s release.

Sam Raimi‘s The Evil Dead didn’t just catapult the young director’s career; it altogether revolutionized low-budget horror filmmaking. Its sequel, Evil Dead II, proved to be every bit as inventive and successful. And with Army of Darkness, Raimi brought the franchise squarely into dark fantasy territory with an even more overt sense of humor than ever before.

Precisely thanks to that sense of humor, Army of Darkness is one of the most fun horror movies of all time, as well as one of the most quotable. ‘Labyrinth’ (1986)

Directed by Jim Henson and starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly in what’s perhaps both their most iconic big-screen roles, Labyrinth received a mixed critical reception and underperformed at the box office upon release. In the years since, however, it has come to be recognized not just as one of the biggest Hollywood cult classics of the ’80s, but also one of the most irresistibly entertaining musical movies ever made.

Whether it’s the songs or the spoken dialogue, Labyrinth is filled to the brim with quotable lines that have been a paragon of Internet pop culture for years. The dialogue and song lyrics themselves are already abundantly bombastic in isolation, but the way Bowie and Connelly deliver those lines with gleeful theatricality elevates the entire film even further.

‘Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory’ (1971)

One of the most brilliantly subversive family movies of all time, Mel Stuart‘s Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory may have been hated by Roald Dahl upon release (then again, not that Dahl ever approved of any cinematic adaptation of his work), but cinephiles throughout the years have never stopped considering it one of the most magical family movies ever made.

Reasons to love Willy Wonka are abundant, and the iconicity and memorability of its dialogue is certainly no small reason. It’s primarily the lines delivered by Gene Wilder as Wonka himself that have gone down in history as some of the fantasy genre’s most commonly quoted, but pretty much the entire script penned by David Seltzer and Dahl himself is full of unforgettable lines of dialogue.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl’ (2003)

Based on the iconic Disneyland attraction, the Pirates of the Caribbean series proved that, when they put enough love and passion into it, Disney could really make an awesome movie out of any concept. The first film is Curse of the Black Pearl, where a blacksmith teams up with an eccentric pirate to save his love from the pirate’s former allies, who are now undead monsters.

Curse of the Black Pearl is one of the best and most entertaining pirate swashbucklers in the history of movies, packed with creativity, humor, great action, and some genuinely scary moments. What’s most memorable and fun about the whole film, though, is arguably the presence of Johnny Depp’s bombastic Captain Jack Sparrow, who has most of the best quotes in the series. Curse of the Black Pearl is wonderfully written, and that includes some super strong dialogue that bolsters the story, world, and characters remarkably well.

‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ (1946)

Frank Capra‘s It’s a Wonderful Life is so much more than just the quintessential Christmas classic. Part endearing rom-com, part profoundly moving character drama, part complex exploration of depression and suicide in men, it’s far and away one of the best movies of Hollywood’s Golden Age. It’s the story of George Bailey, a frustrated businessman who thinks the world would be better off without him. So, an angel is sent from Heaven to show him what life would have been like if he had never been born.

A huge part of what makes It’s a Wonderful Life one of the most uplifting drama movies in history is the outstanding screenplay, which has an emotionally riveting story, an engrossing protagonist, and a formidable villain. It also includes some of the most quotable dialogue of this era of Hollywood, from Clarence the angel’s delightful bits of wisdom to George and his wife Mary’s many romantic conversations.

When Pixar released Toy Story, the first-ever fully CG-animated feature film in history, the animated film industry changed forever. There are very few fantasy movie franchises more popular, better-known, or more beloved than the Harry Potter films. Throughout these eight magical movies, fans got to grow up alongside this orphaned boy who finds out that not only is he a wizard—he’s an awfully powerful one, too, destined to become the only person who can stop the evil Lord Voldemort from rising to power in the Wizarding World.

As much as it’s known for its endearing characters, thrilling moments, and many entertaining storylines, all eight Harry Potter films are popular for their delightfully fun dialogue. There aren’t many movie moments more magical than hearing “Some…BODY” and the kick in the door that opens the story of DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek. Winner of the first Best Animated Feature Oscar ever, it’s a fairy tale comedy about an ogre who, after his swamp home is taken over by fairy tale creatures who have been evicted by a mean lord, must go on a quest to rescue a princess in order to get his land back.

Shrek has everything that anyone could ask for in a family movie. Plenty of fun moments and amusing jokes to charm the little ones? Check. A surprisingly even larger number of hidden adult jokes and clever deconstructions of the fairy tale movie genre? Check. Some of the greatest, most quotable lines in animated movie history? Definitely check. Awesome music, hilarious jokes, and a number of emotional moments make Shrek one of the best animated films of the 21st century, all memes aside.

All eyes are on Nintendo, and specifically, The Legend of Zelda, as the year enters its final stretch. While Grand Theft Auto VI is undoubtedly the blockbuster gaming release of the fall, set to land with a seismic impact on November 19, the company could still change the landscape of the season fairly notably depending on when it officially dates its Ocarina of Time remake. Tuesday, September 8, should finally answer when the much-anticipated game will arrive this year thanks to a special 40th anniversary Nintendo Direct celebrating a milestone year in Zelda’s history. However, even before the future of the fantasy adventure series is explored, one release is already dated to commemorate the special occasion.

Earlier this year, Nintendo unveiled The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — Secrets of the Zonai, a new hardcover artbook full of illustrations, insights by the creative team, and Hyrule history from the surface to the sky islands and the titular Zonai themselves. Spanning 472 pages, the book primarily shows the perspective of the developers, with exclusive “behind-the-scenes sketches, notes, rough designs, concept art, and recollections” from throughout the process of bringing the game to life. However, over 80 pages are dedicated to expanding the lore of Tears of the Kingdom, specifically unfurling the past of the Zonai civilization leading up to the beginning of the Breath of the Wild sequel. The cherry on top of this collection is new interviews with producer Eiji Aonuma, director Hidemaro Fujibayashi, and art director Satoru Takizawa, going further in-depth on the creation.

The wait for Secrets of the Zonai won’t be much longer, as it’s locked in to hit store shelves on October 20. Pre-orders are already open for either the standard hardcover at $59.99 or the Hero Edition, which features a few extra goodies, including a green slipcase containing the book with a special green cover, an art print featuring Link with the sages, a cloth map of the depths, and a replica of the Secret Stone of Time. Picking up this version courtesy of Dark Horse Books will be costly, though, coming in at $119.99.

What Else Is Expected at ‘The Legend of Zelda’s 40th Anniversary Direct?

Between Secrets of the Zonai and the anniversary direct, Nintendo still has a lot left in store as The Legend of Zelda‘s 40th birthday year comes to a close. The upcoming presentation, however, should have a lot to say about where the franchise is going in the near future. Ocarina of Time will undoubtedly be a big part of their showcase, but it’s also likely to be where Nintendo provides a new look at the upcoming The Legend of Zelda movie from Wes Ball. Last month, the rest of the main cast was revealed, with Uli Latukefu joining Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason as the evil warlock, Ganondorf, alongside Yvonne Strahovski, Dichen Lachman, and the late great Sam Neill in his final role. With the film due to be released on April 30 next year, a trailer isn’t out of the question. It remains to be seen if the gaming giant will also tease a proper new game for the Nintendo Switch 2 era, considering it’s been three years since Tears of the Kingdom.

As the 30th season of The View approaches, cohost Ana Navarro is admitting she’s neglected her usual self-grooming habits.

“You all, The View begins September 8 and here’s the problem, I have done no self-grooming or self-care for almost a month and a half. So, I’m asking you for a little grace and time to get myself together, like, maybe give me a week after I go on live TV,” Navarro, 54, told fans in a Saturday, September 5, Instagram video before sharing nitty gritty details from her beauty to-do list.

“You see this? This is gray hair that I haven’t been able to color. You see these eyebrows? They are like the tails of squirrels, I have not had them plucked or waxed in over a month. You see these nails? There’s, like … a half inch growth going on here that I haven’t been able to take care of,” the political journalist and commentator hilariously revealed.

She continued, “Upper lip … Botox … lip filler … none of this is happening. This is how I’m going to go on TV [on] September 8. I am just forewarning you.”

In other season 30 news, former host Rosie O’Donnell may return to screens as a guest throughout the series. O’Donnell, 64, claimed on the Monday, August 3, episode of “The Tangle” podcast that ABC are “bringing back all the hosts.”

She added, “And you know, I’m pretty proud of that show, what it’s become and how it really speaks to the people and to politics. [It] was not the case when I first joined.”

A return was later clarified by her rep who told Entertainment Weekly that a “formal ask” from the network has not been issued to O’Donnell.

Rob Reiner has received a posthumous Emmy for his role in “The Bear,” several months after his tragic death at 78 years old. The late actor and filmmaker won Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys, marking his third Emmy and breaking a record previously held by his father, actor and screenwriter Carl Reiner.

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards were held on September 5 and 6, celebrating specialized performers and production professionals whose work helps bring TV productions to life.

On the second night of the prestigious event, late filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner was posthumously awarded for Outstanding Guest in a Comedy Series for “The Bear,” nearly nine months after his death on December 14, 2025. He was honored with a standing ovation from the audience.

Reiner bested nominees Michael J. Fox (Shrinking), Brett Goldstein (Shrinking), Hamish Linklater (Widow’s Bay), Christopher McDonald (Hacks), and Connor Storrie (Saturday Night Live).

Reiner’s win marks the first posthumous Emmy for an on-camera performance since Puerto Rican actor Raúl Juliá won in 1995 for the drama film “The Burning Season.”

Presenter Wendi McLendon-Covey accepted the award on the filmmaker’s behalf, saying, “We all wish he was here,” per Deadline.

The Filmmaker Broke His Father’s Emmy Record

90 Day Fiancé fans should prepare themselves for another wild and unpredictable tell-all special.

TLC released the official trailer for the shocking 90 Day Fiancé season 12 reunion on Sunday, September 6, and once again the drama is palpable.

As the cast heads to New York City to meet and mingle, Catie Norboe is put in the hot seat after she enjoys a few tequila shots during a night out. At one point she tells a man — who is not her partner — that she’d “love to make out.”

“Don’t you think he’s embarrassed by you kissing other people?” Ashia Montgomery asks Catie as she sits alongside her partner, Josh Atkins.

Not taking the questioning well, Catie begins snapping at Josh before walking off in tears.

“I can do whatever I want. I don’t have to listen to you,” she says. “I think I do better on my own. I don’t want to talk to them ever again.”

Shea McGuire and Annabelle Chua are also forced to answer some tough questions. During the tell-all, host Shaun Robinson asks Shea what his relationship is like with his ex-wife Nicole today.

“I spoke with her on the phone a couple of times,” he replies calmly.

Viewers will soon find out how true that statement is when Shaun brings out a surprise guest.

“Well, there is some behavior of Shea that was inappropriate,” she claims. “Please welcome Shea’s ex-wife, Nicole.”

When Annabelle asks Nicole why she is here, she replies, “He’s not a faithful man. I have all of these things that I can show.”

Despite the tough round of questioning, the cast is able to have a little bit of fun. Raşit Kebabci’s partner, Mallorie DeGrange, tries to lighten the mood when she asks the ladies to play an innocent game.

“I’m going to give you three names,” she says. “You have to say, ‘f***, marry or kill: Rasit, Mido, Edward.”

Catie is quick to participate — and not name her partner — when she replies, “Marry Edward, f*** Mido because he’s hot and sorry I would [chuck] Rasit.”

Cameras also roll when Raşit Kebabci meets several of his costars for the first time.

Mido doesn’t appear to be exactly thrilled to meet the outspoken reality star, while Thomas claims he gets just a little too close.

The 90 Day Fiancé season 12 tell-all begins on TLC Sunday, September 13 at 8 p.m. ET.

Andrew Garfield expected conversations about class struggle when he signed on for “The Uprising.” However, what he may not have expected was becoming part of the debate himself. 

The actor found himself facing criticism online after remarks he made during a Los Angeles screening of the historical drama spread across social media. 

While Garfield was discussing the film’s themes of inequality and power, some viewers argued that his comments rang hollow coming from one of Hollywood’s highest-paid stars.

Set against the backdrop of England’s 1381 Peasants’ Revolt, “The Uprising” explores a period of social unrest that followed the Black Death. 

The story examines how crushing taxes imposed by King Richard II’s government to finance the Hundred Years’ War pushed ordinary people toward rebellion.

During a question-and-answer session at a Los Angeles screening, Andrew Garfield and director Paul Greengrass discussed what they hoped audiences would take away from the project. 

When asked what message he wanted viewers to leave with, the 43-year-old said he hoped the film would resonate beyond its historical setting.

“Well, first I hope they come and see it, first thing,” Garfield said in a video uploaded by The Movie Report, adding, “Secondly, I hope it’s galvanizing. I hope there’s some awakening that people feel … that we all feel like our own struggles are being reflected in the struggles of these characters from a distant time and place and that it could be directive.”

Garfield plays a fictional character known as Ploughman, while Cosmo Jarvis portrays real-life rebel leader Wat Tyler, one of the most prominent figures associated with the uprising.

The discussion took a different turn when Andrew Garfield added a remark that quickly became the focus of online conversation.

“And I hope that if any billionaires watch it, they’re scared sh–less,” he stated.

The comment immediately attracted criticism from social media users who questioned whether the “Spider-Man: No Way Home” actor was the right messenger for anti-billionaire rhetoric. 

Critics pointed to Garfield’s own financial success and the role wealthy investors and studio executives play in financing major film productions.

Among those responding was former Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt, who challenged Garfield’s statement in a post on X. “You mean…like the billionaires who greenlight your movies and stroke all your multi-million dollar paychecks? Or they good?” Pratt wrote.

Pratt followed up his criticism by noting Garfield’s recent casting as OpenAI chief Sam Altman in the upcoming film “Artificial.” “Ironically, Garfield just got paid like $5M for playing billionaire Sam Altman in Artificial,” he added.

Spencer Pratt wasn’t the only public figure who took issue with Garfield’s remarks. Several commentators argued that the Hollywood star’s comments conflicted with the realities of modern Hollywood.

Rick Davis, an associate pastor at Providence Church in Virginia, questioned the direction of the project itself. 

“When I first heard they were making a period film about Wat Tyler, I was pretty excited. But the more Andrew Garfield talks, the more it sounds like it’s just going to be socialist garbage,” Davis shared per Page Six.

Substack columnist John William Sherrod also weighed in, writing, “Hilarious that world-famous, multi, multi millionaire Andrew Garfield is cosplaying as a put upon member of the working class.” 

Meanwhile, Tablet Magazine chief technology officer Noam Blum added, “More billionaires were involved in making this than will probably ever watch it.”

A few days before Andrew Garfield’s comments at “The Uprising” screening, another set of remarks from the actor drew attention for a very different reason. 

While promoting the historical drama, Garfield revisited an idea he first raised more than a decade ago: the possibility of a gay Spider-Man. 

Rather than introducing a new argument, he reaffirmed a position he originally shared in 2013 during the promotion of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” 

Looking back on that earlier conversation, Garfield said he still believed the character’s appeal came from the fact that anyone could see themselves behind the mask. “I just still believe that anyone can be in that suit,” he explained to Entertainment Weekly, while discussing the superhero’s enduring popularity. 

Garfield’s comments revived discussion about statements he made years ago when he openly questioned why Peter Parker could not explore his sexuality. At the time, he even floated the idea of Michael B. Jordan portraying a male version of Mary Jane’s role in the story. 

The conversation also showcased how much the Spider-Man universe has evolved since Garfield last headlined the franchise. 

While no live-action Spider-Man has been portrayed as openly gay, Marvel introduced Web-Weaver, an openly gay Spider-Man variant, in the comics in 2022.

Away from the debate surrounding “The Uprising” and the renewed Spider-Man discussion, Garfield also offered a more personal glimpse into how he copes with the demands of his work. 

The star admitted that filming Paul Greengrass’ gritty historical drama took a significant emotional toll, making it important for him to find ways to decompress after long days on set. 

Speaking to PEOPLE at the film’s Los Angeles premiere on September 2, Garfield revealed that his preferred method of unwinding is surprisingly simple. 

“I watch dumb movies. I watch dumb TV shows. I have a lot of dumb things,” he said before quickly clarifying that one favorite does not belong in that category at all. 

“Right now, always, the Paddington movies,” Garfield explained. He immediately corrected himself, adding, “But they’re not dumb! They’re incredible movies.”

The snaps arrived one day after Cameron, who began dating Gallagher in 2024 after meeting on the series’ season 9 charter, broke her silence over her ex’s arrest. Us confirmed last month that Gallagher was arrested and charged with “assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentionally chok[ing] a person without consent and common assault,” according to a police memo.

“Hey guys, I just want to say thank you so much for the support you’ve shown for Kayden and I,” Cameron wrote via her Instagram Stories on Saturday, September 5. “It’s been a tough season, but I have been using the past few months to quietly heal and rebuild for little man and myself.”

She continued, “I really appreciate the love you have sent our way, especially while everything that’s come to light, and I’m really working on finding myself again and moving forward.”

The police report obtained by Us further stated that neither party sustained injuries. Gallagher was eventually granted conditional bail. It is not clear how he pleaded. Gallagher broke his silence surrounding his arrest in an August 26 statement to Rolling Stone. “I’m not claiming I was perfect. I wasn’t. I made mistakes and I will take responsibility for my own actions,” the statement read before adding that he would “not accept being portrayed solely through one person’s account of a relationship when there is another side and evidence relating to it.”

He added at the time, “I have contemporaneous video footage from the night in question, as well as messages and other records, which I believe provide important context.”

Just one day before the Emmys, Phaedra confirmed her romance with CT during a Friday, September 5, episode of SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live. Without divulging many details, the Bravolebrity coyly hinted that their red carpet debut would not be a platonic outing because they’ve “been out” a handful of times.

Phaedra and CT met while filming 2024’s second season of Peacock’s The Traitors, quickly forming a close bond. While watching the pair tackle the hit murder mystery competition, fans and fellow contestants alike believed the duo had a sizzling connection.

“I ship it,” their costar Peter Weber exclusively told Us at the time. “I think they’re really cute together. They had some good chemistry. Who knows what the future holds with them?”

“Posting about the Lindsay Clancy trial in the same breath as a brand partnership was completely insensitive, wrong and out of character for me,” Hirsch, 37, wrote in a Sunday, September 6, social media statement. “I should have known better, and I feel sick that I didn’t see that in the moment.”

Hirsch claimed in a since-deleted social media caption on Friday, September 4, that Polymarket “predicted the verdict would be not guilty” via a sponsored post for the betting site. The influencer added, “Are you surprised? #Polymarketpartner.”

Lindsay has admitted to strangling her kids to death before jumping from a second-story window in an apparent suicide attempt. She is now paralyzed from the waist down. “As a mom, this case has really affected me,” Hirsch, who shares two kids with husband Yaron Weiss, added on Sunday. “I’ve been following it so closely, talking about it constantly and feeling heartbroken over every part of it. I became so consumed that I completely lost perspective and didn’t stop to think about how grossly inappropriate it was to discuss something this tragic in that context.”

Hirsch further claimed that she “made a terrible judgment call” by sharing the sponsored content in the first place.

“I feel so f***ing awful about that. I know deleting it doesn’t erase it,” she concluded. “Believe me, I’m horrified by the choice I made and please know this lapse in judgment does not represent who I am as a person, I am so deeply sorry.”
